Strangest places you've breastfed

Ok, it was me on the water bus in Venice. It was me with the screaming, hungry baby who popped out a boob and fed him while the boat bopped up and down on the waves.

You would have done the same, right?

Weirdest places you've had to feed?

Since this thread has been reactivated, I shall add leaning over the car seat in a multi-story car park, going through airport security, boarding a plane... all in the same journey

I BFed DD1 again at Silverstone at the weekend- same child, different grandstand Grin I might see if I can work my way around the whole circuit before all my children self-wean.

On a little rowing boat in the pond in Regents Park in London. We were both wearing life jackets as well!
DH managed to get us stuck in some plants and stranded but at least DS2 was not going hungry while we awaited rescue.

Also strange was in the soft play area of a caravan park where everyone else appeared to be feeding their toddlers coca cola in baby bottles. I really didn't fit in there.

Sat in a show garden summer house in Makro with an employee guarding the door

Zipitydooda · 25/08/2011 22:50

Why did you need a guard on the door?

birdofthenorth · 25/08/2011 23:01

In a polling station during an election campaign!

And in school governors meetings.

And in the baby pool at Centre Parcs.

And on the tube (& trains, buses, planes)

And all the time in church.

And at the vets, being sniffed by several curious dogs!

CreamolaFoamFan · 26/08/2011 20:43

In a lava tube in Lanzarote (Cuevas de Los Verdes). There is a guided tour through tunnels formed some hundreds of years ago by a volcanic eruption. The boy was wailing loudly through the commentary, so shoogled him across in his sling for a few minutes of blessed silence.

In the fitting room at h&m on regent street

catbus · 26/08/2011 21:31

Don't think anywhere is particularly strange breastfeeding!

Whilst boiling pasta, whilst bollocking kids on street, whilst sewing on a machine, whilst doing a bloody complicated bhangra dance at a wedding, whilst on the loo, whilst on the phone to the taxman, whilst at a funeral...and the list goes on..

crazycatlady · 26/08/2011 21:45

All the usual places, restaurants, hairdressers, shops, tube etc...Two recent favourites:

In the passenger seat of the car while two blokes fitted a roof box to the top of the car in the pissing down rain.

On the side of a rugby pitch watching DH play.

In a shoe shop, in the back of my parents car whilst on the motorway (both strapped in) and sitting in the long grass halfway up a mountain in Austria. The last wasn't strange, but beautiful, relaxing and very 'natural'.

CrazyRandomHappenstance · 19/07/2012 11:35

in a cave Grin

seasaltbaby · 19/07/2012 20:04

Whilst getting my legs waxed
In claridges whilst having posh afternoon tea, as you do.
On top of a mountain in the lakes

Love the thread!

MrsCF · 19/07/2012 20:15

At seven months the only way my daughter would feed for about a month was to lay down, which generally was fine most of the time. We went to the zoo for the whole day, I ended up taking a pop up tent so she could feed!!!

Happygirl77 · 20/07/2012 12:13

Fed all 3 dc in church on a weekly basis (also at weddings and christenings)
While rushing to get dd1 from school , dd2 clutching my other hand
Frequently in the school playground
At the opticians'
At the osteopaths'
In many shop changing rooms
On several planes
At the cinema (Night at the Museum, Ice Age 2 and The Muppets)
Under a solitary tree in the New Forest
Up a mountain in France
Also while answering the front door - to the postman, neighbours, charity collectors... Smile

arthurfowlersallotment · 20/07/2012 12:24

At a Baptism preparation class, in front of the priest :o

moajab · 20/07/2012 12:46

Lots of times in theatres, church services, school assembelies, on beaches, park benches, buses, trains etc.
Perhaps the strangest (well a man walking passed commented that he's never seen it before) was in the ball pool of our local soft play. It was one of the most comfortable places I've ever fed - all the balls support your arm while you cradle babies head and the side is nice for leaning against!

FireOverBabylon · 20/07/2012 12:54

In a sling in woodland. We'd stopped our walk for one proper feed but he was still grisly so I just put the sling on under my coat, wrapped it around both of us and let him feed as we walked. No odd looks from other Sunday afternoon walkers that I noticed.

MIssmatching5ocks · 20/07/2012 12:58

In a nun's outfit that I'd specially designed to be bf friendly (with a muslin for the veil bit too!) at NYE.

MIssmatching5ocks · 20/07/2012 13:01

Also while becoming a God parent. Not all my bfing is religious Hmm Don't think it particularly weird though. If God exists he designed the equipment!

lunabay · 20/07/2012 13:01

I call it extreme breastfeeding

dawntigga · 20/07/2012 13:04

in every single major and minor supermarket, for some reason The Cub use to get hungry at the smell of human food ;)

PetaO · 20/07/2012 13:13

Expressed in the changing room of the new bath spa. Heard people wondering what the noise was!

ShipsCat · 20/07/2012 13:14

Should have added at the tiller of a sailing boat while on watch to my previous post. DH was very impressed Smile
