Hi how is everyone doing? I have my 16 week midwife appointment today. Got my scan appointment for the 22nd march

CherryPie3 · 18/02/2010 12:17

oooh, kcoffin I've got my 16wk check today (at 17wks but hey) what time is it? Mines at 3:50pm xx

OP posts:
kcoffin27 · 18/02/2010 12:23

mines at 3:10. do you have a scan date yet? I didnt realize I had to book it myself, I was waiting for an appointment so phoned the docs and was told I had to make the appointment for the midwife. Why dont they tell you these things, lol.

mrsZaC · 18/02/2010 12:28

man you guys are getting all your 16 wk appointments done and I've not even had my booking in appointment , only a few more days to wait though .

That's awesome vix sounds like great fun, gorgeous stuff on your sites don't think I could work with my DH, as much as I love him. Brilliant news on your scan, your pics are lovely

zonked and hungry today, not a good combo as I can't summon up the energy to leave the office to go to get food! and headaches are back

bouncingblueberries · 18/02/2010 12:31

Oh my god Vix I love the swimsuits on your site. Now why are there no maternity ones? Hmm? Gap in the market me thinks!

vix206 · 18/02/2010 12:32

Thanks mrsZaC

I also woke up with a headache today, tried one of those cool forehead strips for the first time - they are brilliant! I think it was just because I slept badly through excitement about the scan. Its hanging around a bit but nothing too bad, I'm finding it hard to motivate myself today though and I have a lot of orders to pack so I'll have to get on with it after lunch!

Just out of interest, when I came out of my scan they told me to book the 18/20 anomaly scan at the front desk. But they said there were no appointments available and that I would just have to ring up after 30th March and chase for a cancellation. Is it just me or is that a bit rubbish?!

vix206 · 18/02/2010 12:33

blueberries, I know - these swimsuits are gorgeous and fab for up to 6 months pregnant and then after the baby because they have so much support, but after 6 months you'd probably need a maternity swimsuit.

I'm making the most of mine while I can, the ruching totally hides my little bump along with many other sins!

mrsZaC · 18/02/2010 12:34

vix that sounds rubbish! surley they should be able to fit you in as a matter of importance!

vix206 · 18/02/2010 12:39

Yes, apparently not! I wasn't very impressed either to be honest.

CherryPie3 · 18/02/2010 12:39

kcoffin My scan is 11th march when I'll be exactly 20wks, my scan appointment came through the post but I knew I had to make the mw appointment - but only because with my first I remember waiting and waiting until she rung me on my mobile and said 'why haven't you been to see me'

Vix Thats well and truly rubbish!! I'd be stamping my foot and claiming pregnancy hormones were at fault - not me!! How many weeks are you now?

CherryPie3 · 18/02/2010 12:43

kcoffin that was meant say 'first baby', just read it back and it sounds like I mean my first appointment. Sorry (can I blame baby brain )

OP posts:
Chulita · 18/02/2010 12:55

Are we seriously getting through a thread a month? What on earth do we talk about??

Aussieng · 18/02/2010 12:56

Some of your Dr-midwife systems sound rubbish and really hard work. After confirming my PG with the Dr, I was directed to reception to make an appointment for my bookng in and everything since has happened seemlessly regardless of whether it is the MW, the hospital or the consultant and the only effort required from me is to turn up at the appointments.

Great pics Vix - glad all went well. Hope you others have good appointments today.

kcoffin27 · 18/02/2010 13:00

cherrypie I had my scan through the post aswell but i will be 21 weeks when I have it. I know what you mean about the baby brain im forever doing and saying silly things, lol

I have also been suffering from bad headaches that last for days. I tried the 4head stick thing but that does't work

CherryPie3 · 18/02/2010 13:07

When I get headaches I use the sticky pads that you put in the fridge. They're good for all kinds of things - I take them on holiday and allsorts!!!

OP posts:
pamplem0usse · 18/02/2010 14:34

vix that's properly rubbish..... can you not have your scan at a different maternity unit?
CherryPie thankfully I'm fairly shameless!!! I can't believe they didn't take a sample at your booking in though!! It's odd how differently different areas do things........ Even more embarassing the midwife told me to clean out the sample pot and bring it back with me next time.... and handed me the pot full of my wee. Nice. But when I went to book the next appointment the receptionist gave me a new one. So I was left carry my wee around town! Lovely!

bouncingblueberries · 18/02/2010 14:37

girls, just found this link on another thread:

lifebegins.channel4.com/birth/types-of-birth/natural-birth/water-birth/asuka-gives-birth/

it is the most amazing thing! Very rare to be that calm and chilled out I'm sure, but just had to share.

CherryPie3 · 18/02/2010 14:52

Pample I thought it was a little odd too, mainly that she booked me in without confirming that I was actually pregnant . Could have just wanted the attention
Think I would have thrown the old sample away if the mw had given me it back!! Last time the mw used to dip-stick the sample then empty and wash the pot before returning it to me.

10 minutes til I finish work - not sure if I'll have time to come back after the appointment being that my mw rarely sticks to her schedule!! I probably won't even see her until half 4!!

Is anyone else getting impatient? I want it to be July now! I want the 3rd tri big bump and delivery date looming, I can't wait.....I'm soooo excited!!!

OP posts:
mrsZaC · 18/02/2010 15:13

wow berries that clip is soo beautiful, such a serene labour! Please please please let mine me like that!!!

cherypie I'm getting impatient too.. but then again, I think i might need some time to prepare too I'm sure time will fly by soon enough.

bouncingblueberries · 18/02/2010 15:15

I know! isn't it amazing! My first labour wasn't quite so calm, did ok but didn't feel as much in control as I'd like to. This time round though, I'm aiming to be as calm and serene as that!

Aussieng · 18/02/2010 15:29

CherryPie - I'm getting impatient but I have to admit that I keep thinking of maternity leave - 6 lovely weeks all to myself in early summer (my favourite part of the year) - not of having the baby

I have protein in my urine fairly constantly so fortunately MW tends to always send my pot off to the lab so I always get a new pot thank goodness. Until now I have pointed out that these readings are normal for me - I may not bother next time.

Has anyone had a water birth or not been able to have one due to the facilities already being in use> I'm very keen as I tend to use baths for a lot of aches and general stress relief too but am quite pessimistic about the chances of the birth pools actually being available on the day (don't really know where that pessimism has come from since I have no experience of such matters).

bouncingblueberries · 18/02/2010 15:33

aussie I didn't manage to get a water birth last time as both birth pools were in use (possible only the rooms that were in use though). Bit more hopeful this time though as with a bit of luck I'll be in the midwife-led unit, where there are more than just 2 pools.

But to be honest, when I was actually in full blown labour I didn't give two hoots whether the birth pools were free or not - just wanted the baby OUT!

pamplem0usse · 18/02/2010 16:40

very jealous of all of you ladies who are looking at water births. My maternity unit doesn't have any at the moment and only one room that's large enough for you to bring your own (which we can't really afford to do anyway). I considered changing where I give birth, but the maternity unit sans birthing pools is 10 minutes away and the others are 45 minutes +, longer in rush hour.
I'm thinking I might ask them if I can just get in a bath for a while!! But then slightly paranoid about the likely cleansliness of bathing facilities!!!
