Happy new thread everyone

Heinz- so sorry to hear of your friend, I hope she recovers.

we had such a hot weekend here, it was truly horrible in the 40's couldn't do anything but lie inside in the darkened house, with fans blowing madly.
we were no where near the bushfires but terrible tradedy how many dead here.

we went to a art ball on weekend, first time out with 2 kids, was good fun, i had a very noticible bump in my formal frock ;i'll have to post pic.

how was everyone else's weekend, cold i imagine?

Uki · 09/02/2009 09:01

meant to say without kids

mamamila · 09/02/2009 09:16

hi everyone, good title!
i have a huge gourd shaped bump..
has anyone ever used those support belt things during pregnancy? i had terrible PGP last pregnancy, from about 16 weeks. i'm wondering how to avoid it/ postpone it

thought i was coming through the nausea but had terrible day yesterday, migraine and queasy all day.
i constantly have a horrible taste in my mouth, since new year. still can't face cooking most days, everything makes me feel queasy and i don't enjoy the taste of anything but have been managing to eat big blocks of dairy milk...
scan today at last, hope i remember the £ coins

mamamila · 09/02/2009 09:19

hi uki,

i'd definitely swap the arctic temp here, -7 at the weekend and the 1/4 gas bill just arrived, £350! the heating's on full blast we're dressed for arctic and we're still freezing

OonaghBhuna · 09/02/2009 09:30

Thanks for the new thread, like the title!

I need some heat its so cold. Although took the kids out on their bikes yesterday. We were all wrapped up as if we were going skiing!
It was good fun.
This morning both Dds have colds so its going to be a long day...........

Uki · 09/02/2009 09:32

Mamamilla-arn't you in tanzania? can't be with that temp, wow -7 is quite cold. i have no nausea but tiredness is still really bad. not quite the same though

Hi All

Hope everyone is well and keeping warm. Was off the board for a while as was trying to keep myself calm about first scan! Scan was last Weds, and baby is well and healthy and due date confirmed for 8th August.
Hubby and I are so excited. Now we know the little one is well we can actually start planning and possibly buying bits and pieces.
Sick of wearing the same pair of jeans all the time (they were my fat jeans and are all I fit into. Already have a decent sized bump - need maternity clothes and fast. And new bras....again.

x

BumpVLump · 09/02/2009 16:41

Hi all,
I know the feeling MammaDani- I have had the same pair of jeans on for weeks now!
Got a letter today saying my bloods came back as anaemic so going to try and get some tablets from them tommorow. Anyone else had this so early on? I have been very tired and a bit breathless but figured it was just being pregnant...also Ive heard the supplements get you really blocked up and I really don't need that!

OonaghBhuna · 09/02/2009 18:18

I would definately recommend spa tone for iron. Its in liquid form and you can put it into fruit juice in the morning.I take it as iron tablets give me a bad tummy.

SpecialOffer · 09/02/2009 18:48

Just wanted to pop in, had writen a huge post but DS just managed to delete it in one swoop....

Will update later - LOVE the title BTW!!!!

lifesaboxochoccies · 09/02/2009 19:15

hi everyone, love the new thread title!
not really much to post so its just a quick drop in on the new thread from me, hope you're all doing well x

nuttygirl · 09/02/2009 19:56

Another vote for Spatone! You can take one or two sachets per day. I tend to drink it on its own then drink a glass of orange juice cos I think it makes orange taste funny but I don't mind the taste of it on its own iyswim.

Not much to report here. Dd doing really well with potty training - just an odd accident like when she sat herself on the potty wearing her skirt and pooed .

Well I seem to be walking better but still sore in bed. Have tried the pillow between me knees thing but it didn't seem to help. Not sleeping well at all at the moment (uncomfy & can't seem to switch off) and it's giving me bad headaches.

Anyway dh has run me a bath so best go get in it!

BabyBump2B · 09/02/2009 20:15

Hey everyone! Couldn't find you all for a minute!

LOVE the new thread title!

Been a bit quiet here - not much going on with the bump (aside from its size) and just been stressing about DH's layoff and what exactly we can do about it.

Heinz - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend - please keep us posted. What a horrible situation!

Kitkat - I have exactly the same thing with sweet things. Horrid sacchriney (sp?) taste in my mouth!

Have a wee question about weight gain. I'm now 14 + 1 and haven't gained anything which I'm partially excited about because I usually put weight on by looking at food but wondered if its actually a bad thing? I am slightly overweight so need to keep it in check but don't want to put baba at risk!

LittleFairySmile · 09/02/2009 20:54

Thanks for the new thread, and good title too!

Nuttygirl (comments from last thread) the reason we're thinking of hiring an IM is that DH and I don't want to be deceived by community midwives with their own agendas. We don't trust NHS staff not to get scared at the first minor problem or fail to give us the full picture and set off a cascade of intervention. I want to know that if I accept intervention it is totally necessary. DH still a bit uncomfortable with doula route (and we spoke to many doulas) as they cannot comment on how I'm doing or give a medical opinion. We can't afford an IM really either, but DH says the cost of avoiding the problems I had with my state of mind in the months after having DS is invaluable.

ScummyMummy · 09/02/2009 21:14

Hi everyone. Would like to join you on this shiny new thread. Lurked a bit on your old one but get all superstitious in early pregnancy so didn't post. Am 14+4 now so feeling more confident, esp after nice 12 week scan where the baby looked pretty fab to me and the scanners seemed to think everything was developing normally.

I'm returning to all this baby malarky after a long gap- have nearly 10 year old twins.

Baby2bump- I don't think you need to worry about lack of weight gain, esp. if you were a tiny bit overweight to start with. The pregnancy book I am perusing says that average weight gain is about 1lb per week from 2nd trimester. We're only just into the 2nd trimester really so I'm sure there's nothing to worry about. I am in the same boat- a few pounds heavier than optimum at conception and haven't put any weight on yet either. I'm hoping that the baby is speeding my metabolism up massively and I will end up my ideal weight immediately after the birth! (fat chance, I suspect)

kitkatqueen · 09/02/2009 21:49

Hi All, Love the new name!!

Heinz Thanks for bagsying me the next thread name LOL! Hope yr friend is doing ok.

babybump2b I agree with scummymummy I have put a bit on and lost a bit etc since I fell pregnant and now at 12+6 I weigh exactly the same as I did b4 I got preggers! The last 3 times I had gained about a stone by now so really keeping my fingers crossed that I don't put on loads this time!! Thanks also for mentioning the weird sweet taste thing - its driving me nuts!! I want chocolate!!!LOL!!

Uki You look absolutley gorgeous!! Very cute children!!

I have to say yet another vote for spatone for iron deficiency - If u r in the uk u can get it from boots. The gp prescribed stuff just made me v ill.

Spk soon.

LFS - thanks, hope you didn't think I was being too nosey or anything! I know what you mean about avoiding the problems after the birth. I'm hoping to avoid those this time round too.

BB2B - Not entirely sure about weight gain here. My bmi at my last appointment (same day as scan) was the same as when I first saw mw but they measured me at over an inch taller .

BumpVLump · 09/02/2009 23:13

Thanks for all the advice on Spatone ladies, I'll be off to Boots tomorrow then! Why bother with the doc when you have MN eh?
Welcome to Scrummymummy.
