My monthly doctor's appointment is in two days. There, I will see a bit about my options - register to antenatal classes, and get in touch with the one MW who speaks English. I speak French but this MW is apparently very good so I will play the Foreigner card

And I will go from there. I was speaking to an English friend today, and she said she delivered without epidural and without a tear BUT then was knocked out with anesthesia and given a huge episiotomy just to deliver the placenta

How's everybody's (in)digestion? I suffered badly in 3rd trimester with both previous pregnancies, but this time around I am not quite 17wks and already getting heartburn and reflux. I'm not eating in the evening but still throwing up at night AND have constipation, so my whole system is completely rubbish at the moment! Hope others are enjoying a blooming and serene 2nd trimester...

I'm off to get some Gaviscon .

Oh, damn, ermintrude I am sorry to hear that. I've had some small bits of heartburn, but nothing too bad, and constipation seems to have cleared up with a bit of half caff coffee!

Just turned 42 yesterday and struggling to come to terms with it, so thought I should update my age correctly so I am not in too much denial. Does this make me the ancient-ist?

Due 5 months today - but that still feels an eternity away.

Hey guys the heartburn is a real bum at the moment... my mum said its because the baby must be hairy! lol that made me laugh and I dreamt of a REALLY hairy baby arriving... lol

Loving all the advise for maternity leave... being my first time and not having much of a bump yet I'm not sure how i'll feel nearer to the time!

But hope to leave 3 weeks before EDD - 2 weeks leave and one week maternity. Probably take 9 months leave and return to work flexibly.. 3 days at work and 2 from home! That would mean nursery for 3 days baby would either be with family or nursery or with DH who is also on a contract so wont have any leave But I think he will take leave just to be with me... which would be nice!

Lol sweetbroody, think your mum meant full HEAD of hair I've only ever had the odd bit of heartburn and all my dcs were bald, so you never know

Hello borriebear nice to see you on here.

I'm sat in my classroom with 32 top set Y9s in silence doing their exams... I should be using the time to plan next week's lessons, but I'm browsing Mumsnet.... mmm... bad teacher! Had to put DS in nursery today as FIL's chemo is taking its toll and he really too poorly to have a 2 yr old tearing down the place. They were adamant that they wanted him to stay, but for FIL's sake, DS is better off in nursery. The head has said that he'll pay for it tho, so it's not going to put us out of pocket. I only do a day a week suppply for the school so it'd be pointless me paying over 30 quid of a days wages to have him in.

Oh well. Sorry to hear about the heartburn and the backache, I've only had a few days of heartburn this time round. Last PG I was swigging back the Gaviscon like it was bourbon.....
