1stMrsF CONGRATULATIONS on twins - how lovely It's so exciting! I was secretly hoping someone on the thread would have twins.

Congrats to everyone else who's had good scans & nuchal results.

Not had time to post for ages due to being completely snowed under at work. I've 'come clean' in the office now. Lots of people have come up & asked to see scan pics - quite fun to be the centre of attention for a short while (just hope all goes ok now!) and I don't have to feel so self conscious about my huge belly - I can let it all hang out, woo hoo!

Yesterday I was working up to telling my oldest friend the news. We've been friends since we were 12 and though we've always kept in touch & been out for birthdays etc sometimes we let it slip a few months without contact. Anyway we'd fell out of touch for a while, so I decided to hold out til I went public and was about to get in touch when I had a text from her saying her mum had died suddenly the day before - no idea why and she is absolutely devastated. I didn't want to go on about myself at such an awful time, so haven't told her my news for now. Trouble is, although I'm sure she will be happy for me & DH I don't think she was very pleased about us TTC as we're the last of her friends to be childless. All in all feel very, very for her but also a bit awkward. Difficult one.

Jael- I am a bit worried like you! I am 26 and have a dd who is 8 months, perfectly healthy etc. I think all this talk of Nuchal test has made me feel like I should have one.. but we didn't with dd because we ttc for 2 years and we couldn't have not had her even if there were problems, we have talked about the possibility this time and whether it would be fair to impact dd1 life with a child that need more attention and whether we could act on the results.
I love my dd1 so much but I couldn't terminate this child if there were problems on the grounds of her getting the right amount of attention, if you get what I mean

I think we have a very low risk so lets tough it out together!

I hve had stomach spasms today, not painful just feels like my stomach is turning itself inside out! Feeling very tired too as dd1 has started waking at 6am which is a bit of a shocker!

Congratulations 1stMrsF - You have been doubly blessed! . We have identical twins on my Dads (who is also an identical twin) side and they are truly fascinating!

I have my scan tomorrow. Can't wait! I don't I am going to be able to sleep. I think this baby is the size of an elephant, because I am consuming so many calories but not gaining any weight, very strange according to my GP! I guess I shouldn't complain

Hello all on the new thread. Like the name.

I feel like a bit of a celebrity! Thank you for all the kind messages. Dandylioness it did cross my mind that it might be twins this week, but only because I suddenly started showing and my mum kept telling me that there are twins in the family (my paternal grandmother had twin siblings and there are some on my mother's side too apparently, but quite a way back). But I dismissed the thought really, and didn't really think that it would turn out to be true - and then it did!

The sonographer said she thinks they are both girls, but that they can be wrong at this stage, so we will wait until the second scan in December before we start making any real plans.

DH is very proud of himself for having scored twice

I keep bursting into tears today for no good reason - and I am not a crier (didn't even cry when Goose died in Top Gun ).

Also got into a big fight with DD1. She ran outside her gymnastics class without me, and was running around and then when I told her off once I was outside, she started running round the car park. Had to physically pick her up, put her over my shoulder and put her in the car, at which point she screamed in my face, kicked and tried to close the automatic door on me. I lost it and smacked her on the knee, and I don't really beleive in smacking and don't do it - so now of course I feel like a horrible parent, so guilty and convinced the other parents in the car park will report me to Child Protective Services

I just seem to have such a short fuse with them at the moment and I feel awful about it. Anyone else being awful the their poor children?? Please??

Girls - do you think my mum was out of order...get this...
I picked the kids up from her yesterday tea time and on my way I got a sandwich from the co-op - I was absolutely starving hadn't eaten much all day. So walked into mums and had my sandwich. She turns round to me half laughing and says... "I can just see it - you're going to be a right porker by the time you have this baby!"
my mum of all people!! HOW DARE SHE?! I think she was half joking but half not.
So I lifted my shirt up and said "Er, I don't think you can tell actually and the midwife weighed me and I've lost weight".
I was so offended. I weigh 8st 9lbs for goodness sake.

Feeling a bit fed up. Lots of little things getting me down. mum hasn't helped. feeling really tearful.

My fuse is a shorter on the days my MS is grotty... not so much patience for the usual toddler dramas. I feel bad after I've shouted at / been a bit sharp with him but hey ho just doing my best to not loose it altogether on those days.

If my DS was running around the car park and not listening I'd have slung him over my shoulder too. I'm sure she'll have forgotten the knee slap already... it'll be you dwelling on it for days! Don't berate yourself about it it's not like you make a habit of it you were just shook up by the whole episode.

divedaisy - you just made me giggle. Was reading about your scan (fab, congrats to you too) and read the bit about your baby having a 'rugby shaped head' and 'being very active' - I read this as it having a 'rugby shaped head' and 'being very attractive'!!!! Hee hee, just thought how amazing that the sonographer thinks your fetus is a particularly pretty one! Then realised my mistake
Made me chuckle anyway.

Sorry, haven't been on really much but am so busy with work at the moment and then am brain-dead by the time I've got the girls to bed, eaten etc. Early night for me.

agooboo - just read your post - must have cross posted. Poor you - your mum is defintely out of order for saying that to you. That was really thoughtless (and wrong) of her. I'd be tearful too. I expect she thought she was being funny and didn't mean to upset - not that that makes it any better. Bet you're gorgeous and still will be at 9 months gone

agooboo my mum has a habit of making what she says are joking comments that drive me crazy... but somehow they always come across as if she's partly serious. Do you think we'll be that annoying to our kids?! I hope not...

FiKelly - I hope not too! what is it with mums and tactless-ness? I don't think my mum hears what she says half the time.

mrsevs - I sympathise - the number of tantrums my two have had and they are guaranteed to be in a public place. Sometimes I think it is just a battle of wills and they test you to see how far you'll let them go.

have my next mw appt tomorrow and have to bring dd1 and dd2 , that should be interesting trying to keep them calm through the visit. just couldn't find a babysitter.

I have been very short to my DC lately- especially when I'm tired/hungry . I feel so sorry for them and wonder what the neighbours think. Bedtime on my own the other night (DH late back) was a low point but managed to turn it round so that they didn't both go to bed in tears . They are still very young and I don't really remember anything before the age of 5, so I'm hoping they will forget grumpy mummy quickly, as I want them to have a happy childhood.

Agooboo- my mum also has a habit of saying things that are a bit thoughtless. I was always a bit of a tomboy whilst my sister doesn't go out of the house without makeup on. On my wedding day (well my wedding blessing day as I got married with a few friends in Barbados) my mum looked at me and said something like "oh you look beautiful. I didn't realise I had 2 beautiful daughters." Grrrr

And to think you weight less than 9 stone! You should have said you hadn't eaten much all day

{I often have a sandwich on my way to get the kids from nursery even if I have eaten well . But i am getting a bit porky}

MrsEvs, i've been on a short fuse too. i imagined kicking my tantrumming toddler today. of course i didn't really kick her but think it would be so easy to lose it, wouldn't it?

i need to watch what i say to her though, as my sarcasm and negativity could damage dd1 nearly as much as physical. i do catch myself and try to be as positive with her as possible. but sometimes I'm tired and she's so difficult or she's mean to her little sister that I lose my temper.

So Mrsevs, don't worry, this is normal. you are human and parenting is a difficult job but we're doing the best we can.
