By the way, I just go laalalaalalaaa when you guys talk about epidurals/pain relief etc. I really didn't enjoy having one when I had DS but I had to as they had put me on a drip and all sorts and I had lots of complications. Ended up with even more severe migraines for years afterwards too. Didn't have one with DD1 and much preferred the whole experience. If I can get away with it this time, I'm going to try and avoid having one (obviously can't predict how things will go!). Gas & Air me up all the way!!!

Hello new thread! Great title, my lovelies. I have a growth scan this pm (was measuring a bit small) but am not worried as LO is doing serious somersaulting and moving around and bump has definitely grown...

I'm just glad to see the sun this morning, particularly as it's not too warm. It's making me cheerful. On the down side, it reminded me that I'm going on holiday on Saturday, so I thought I'd spruce myself up a bit with a DIY bikini wax (sorry if TMI!)... Oh dear. Much comedy. Gave up very quickly. Have tried to reassure myself that if I can't see past my bump, dh probably won't be able to either .

Dal ? not checked your other thread re hypno stuff but will do. I have started listening to my relaxation CD and that?s been so effective that I did actually manage to fall asleep to it last time which is perhaps not the intended effect but does show that I?m relaxed!

BigSea ? not sure exactly where you are but clearly in or near to one of the flood stricken areas. I just hope you?re managing ok and that the worst is over.

Canadianmum ? really glad to hear your growth scan was positive ? your lo may be upside down but at least he or she is the right size!

Toadstool ? I?m absolutely horrified at how you are being treated.

MrsB ? glad you are enjoying new Harry. I am saving it for when I start maternity leave in a week! It?s going to be my first treat!

Hannahsaunt & PLP ? funny you mention packing bags ? one of the girls at my NCT class last night said the midwife assistant doing her hospital tour told her off for not having a bag packed at 34 weeks! My view on this is one is dicatated by sods law ? I just KNOW that if I pack a bag now it?ll be sat in the hall until precisely 42 weeks. So I?m not going to ? not yet anyway. I was sort of hoping that packing a bag would give me something to do in early labour anyway. As long as I?ve got all the bits I need packing them shouldn?t take long.

Although.....new midwife is big advocate of home birth and we are going to discuss at my next appt next week. Am open to ideas for this as it was always my intention to avoid going to hospital for as long as possible. We?ll see.

Well I live in right by the Thames and we have a flood warning still at the moment so fingers crossed I don't get home from work to loads of water sloshing round my hallway. I am the eternal optimist....

Just looked on the BBC pg calendar website to see what it said about being 32 weeks - apparently I should be well into my maternity clothes by now. Yes - well in and almost out the other side!!! Am able to pass some things on already to SIL who is 12 weeks.

HH - where do some of these utterly stupid comments come from? None of my tops/ bras fit almost immediately after falling pregnant - they almost doubled in size overnight! well into maternity clothes by 32 weeks?? gee thanks for that!

Hi all, lovely new thread! Hope you are all well, I'm dreading Friday in case I'm told that LO is still measuring further ahead than she should be, I have no idea what happens if this is the case, do I get induced a few weeks early or something?

The weather today is lovely, no rain, some sunshine but still not boiling hot, I'd be quite content with this all summer!

Dal anti d and bloods will be fine just not overly enjoyable! my next ones are in 2 weeks on the same day as my garden shed is being replaced landlord finally agreed to it after a year of hastling! It's got a big hole in the roof and is completely rotten and has mice! But is the only storage for pushchairs/bikes!

MrsB i'm sure the bikini wax isn't that bad you did make me laugh!

Anywho, hope you're all coping! I'm having more bad days than good at the moment, but did have a split second this morning where I was actually looking forward to having this babe! LOL Then I came round from sleep properly and my hips kicked in, DD started shouting at me and I realised that it was nearly 10 am and I was STARVING LOL
What a good start to a day where I have nothing but housework to do (blows raspberry)

It's Ok, DH is due home any minute, I shall start poking myself in the eye now and make him feel guilty for going off to work every morn and leaving me with, what feels like, tons of housework and a 2 year old to chase round LOL

Aw I wouldn't do that to him, he's a saint, right? (Pokes eye rapidly!!)

So, anyone got any ideas on how to entertain 2 year old? Without spending any money? Tough innit?!! LOL

The weather has been lovely today, nice and sunny but not too hot. 'm off on holiday on Saturday too, I'm hoping we have some ok weather. Anyone know what it is like in Cornwall at the moment? Guess we will have to pack wellies and waterproofs just in case.

I am a quarter of the way through Harry Potter I keep managing to grab half an hour before bed, and am just about to have another read now, before I have to go pick ds up from nursery.

Just been out with my mum, she actually graced me with her presence for once and I managed to buy some more tops at Dotty P's - 2 were £6, 1 was £3, bargain

MrsB - lol at the bikini wax, I have no chance of seeing whats happening down there, so I got DH to sort me out the other night, he actually really enjoys it... not sure why he did go a little too short though the git... just because I couldn't see what he was doing :rolleyes:

Just posting to say that the growth scan was absolutely fine - LO has managed to catch up brilliantly and is now on the 50th percentile. He spent his whole time with his arms across his face so that we couldn't get a decent look at him obviously...

Hi everyone... lovely day here too, I'm knackered cos I took advantage and did about 4 loads of washing and drying on the line, I was in and out of the garden all day long as things were drying so quickly!

Holly - great news about your growth scan.

MrsB - I managed to take chunks out of my thighs trying to shave off the stragglers on my upper thighs on holiday, I couldn't see a thing down there, just feeling my way round, not good Be careful with that wax!

On the subject of hospital bags... My sister said she didn't bother packing one when she was in labour with her first, she packed once her contractions started as she knew she had hours to go and it took her mind off things. She had bought everything in advance, so it was just a case of gathering it all together. Maybe I'm being a bit blase, but I'm thinking of doing the same.

And on the subject of epidurals... considering I'm such a pain wimp, I'm totally fine with needles, I think it's just because it's such a quick sharp pain. It's anything that goes on longer that I'm not good with. I've got terrible veins, really hard to find and when I had a knee op a few years ago the anaesthatist took about 8 goes to find a vein for the canula... eventually he managed to get in at the side of my wrist (ouch!) and his comment was "sorry about that, here's your reward a double martini" as he pushed in the anasthetic! I managed a chuckle before dropping off! I guess I've had so many operations and blood tests I'm immune to the needle thing now.

I hope you're all enjoying the evening sunshine.... I'm back to work tomorrow after nearly two weeks off, bleurgh!!! Still only three weeks left, that's about 10 shifts according to my calculations.. Yipee!!!

Much envy for those of you ging on your holidays! thank you for your supportive messages, they're helping me through a truly bleak period. Still, free of epidural and catheter today, starting to hop on the zimmer frame,physios behaving themselves. On the up. Bub checked again yestrday, seems 'happy'. Hpe the NHS food is agreeing with her! hoing to re-enter the world either tomorrow or Thursday. The only problem (needle alert!) is that I'll have to give myself daily injections to prevent blood clot, in the upper arm. And I do have a needle phobia!!!

MrsB - two words, bikini trimmers! They are the way forward - no way wax is coming near my bits right now!

Chatty - thanks for the reassuring words re the anti d- am sure it will be fine, just read a thread on here where it made a poster feel vile, but think that is the exception rather than the norm!

Morning all. Last day at work today - tra la la la la!!! Actually, I'm really going to miss all my colleagues, and I'm not coming back to work after mat leave, so I'm actually quite sad. But in the short term, I'm not going to miss trudging up to London every day. DH breaks up today as well (he's a teacher), so at least I'll have some company over the summer - though I think he's going to miss his normal peace and quiet !

MrsFish - frankly, I'm speechless. I wouldn't let DH anywhere near me with a wax strip. Knowing men's proclivities (and lack of practice), I'd probably end up with a wonky Brazilian .

Dal - dumb question, but what the blazes is a bikini trimmer?? Is it a pulling-out-the-hair job, or more like a men's electric razor? And why haven't I got one??
