For those of us due February 2007 and moving from the first to the second trimester ...

We've made it this far - only another 6 months to go! (Gulp!)

wahaay!

(despite being 12+5, i won't feel like i'm reached 2nd semester until i've had scan which isn't til 13+5... that should make 2nd semester go quicker for me though)

julezboo · 17/08/2006 13:46

YAY - I never thought in a million years I would get here!!!!

I felt normal this mornign when i woke up, for a whole half an hour before i started gagging again! I want to bloom x x

Hope everyone else is ok

Julie (13+3)

Hi there - thanks for setting up the new thread! Congrats to all making it this far.

To continue the names discussion, IMO a really good test of a name is whether you'd be prepared to yell it at full volume across a packed playground. If you're remotely unsure, it's not the right name.

Also, first time round, we kept our choice of names secret (in RL) cos' couldn't face people saying "Oh, Oscar, (for example) yes that was the name of the bully at my school/ the spotty boy next door/ my awful first boyfriend..." etc. At least when you present the name with the baby people have to pretend to like it and usually after a while they get used to it. Plan to do the same thing this time. We haven't started talking names yet at home though, somehow still feels a bit soon for us.

Other news is that I've now reached 16 weeks and am beginning to feel bubba moving around inside . It's the best best feeling and puts everything else in the shade. Hope everyone else will be feeling theirs soon.

CurrantBun · 17/08/2006 14:59

Although I started this new thread, I won't technically feel I've "passed" the first trimester until after tomorrow's nuchal scan and bloods. If everything's OK tomorrow I'll be shouting it from the rooftops - will be great to finally be able to tell everyone. We've told our parents, a couple of close friends and I had to tell a couple of people at work because I felt so ghastly for a couple of weeks, but will be nice to tell DH's brother and sister, our other friends etc.

Also, when does the first trimester officially end? At the end of week 12, or at the end of week 13?

I felt the baby move last night babydriver!
I felt a funny butterfly feeling on my right side and thought it might be a bit of wind, but I didn't pass any and it didn't quite feel like that anyway. It was a couple of minutes after I recognised the feeling and knew it was the baby kicking. Hasn't happened again though so maybe it was the way I was lying. Dead exciting still, even 3rd time around.
I now look very pg even to people who don't know me. I've started to get the looks from people in the supermarket..., you know, the ones we give to pg women where you only look at their bellies!
Bought all my bedding etc from M&P half price in the sale!! woohoo, got everything out of the loft to sort and wash etc. Just need a mattress for the cot bed which I'll buy next month I think. Bought a little outfit too, again half priced and too irresistable to say no.
Take care everyone, hope you're all doing ok and I'm breathing a huge sigh of relief for all of us who are now safely round the corner so to speak.
15+3

shanks313 · 17/08/2006 15:57

Just got back from my scan and everything is fine with baby

We saw the heartbeat and he/she was asleep on its front with its leg curled under and can see its fist.

The date has been put back,Im 11 weeks and 2 days which makes the due date 6th March.

Risk of Downs at 1-3000 and risk of chromosome defect 1-9000 so brilliant news all round.

So now I may not be having a February baby,I dont know which thread to be on lol

CurrantBun · 17/08/2006 16:06

shanks, great news! Mine's tomorrow and I hope my news will be as good as yours.

I have a feeling mine will be put back to early March too as it's 26/02 based on LMP (28-day cycle), and I know my cycle is at least 32 days. Based on when I believe I ovulated, I think my EDD will be early March as well.

The question is, do we stay or do we go??

maazaa · 17/08/2006 16:17

Afternoon

I am having a bit of an off day...bit queasy and "full" feeling. Felt a bit woozy at Sainsburys. And now very disappointed that much wanted almond macaroon turned out to be crunchy not chewy. I think I need more activity in my life!!!!

Well, thanks CurrantB for starting the thread - and a fine, sturdy subject title at that. Well done Shanks! How cute was that! As for staying or going, it's difficult but I suspect that those of us who have a late Feb EDD could roll into March, especially us first timers (is it true they are often late first time?). I am 22.2.07 so there's a chance I could end up being March.

Sorky and BabyDriver I am so ! How exciting to feel the baby move!!!!! I can't wait but I wonder whether I'll recognise it, being first time and so many weird stretchy things going on. Is it enough for your DPs to feel it too or just you at this stage?

sorkycake · 17/08/2006 16:25

Just us at this stage which I admit makes it all the more special . Dh didn't feel the kicking until well past 20 weeks. Usually for a first baby it's identifiable about 17-19 weeks, often when you're at rest and it will feel like a fluttering sensation rather than a kick.
Of course about a month later it will be trying to kick your internal organs to mush and not only can it be felt, but it can be seen targetting your liver!
I once tapped my bump at 36 weeks whilst in a restaurant with a spoon because she wouldn't stop hoofing my ribs and it was so painful!

titchy77 · 17/08/2006 17:22

I'm 14 weeks today and dont feel any better yet and dp has been driving me mad for the last 2 days though hes not actully been doing anything wrong just been getting on my nerves!!hoping its hormones as i've never felt this irritated by him before and i hope it will pass!! glad we're in the 2nd trimester, 1st trimester felt like it went on forever!!

maazaa · 17/08/2006 17:40

You have my sympathies Titchy. My poor DH has cooked and cleaned for the past two months and been very lovely but is still victim to my outbursts! One occured when I was driving and he was making "suggestions", arghhhh! I stopped the car, roared crying and stomped up to bed on return to the house!

Another is the superhuman hearing that I've developed where I bristle at every rustle of a crisp bag; chew-chew-chew of a sweet, followed by return of the hand to the rustly bag; scratch-scratch-scratch of the leg. The worst is snoring! As I'm on hols at the moment, my sleep pattern is all out and I'm dozing in the day, not getting off until 1am sometimes. He's naturally tired and starts to snore and I make HIM get up and go to another room. I am eeeeevil witch and must be stopped..... Please tell me this is normal??????

sshhh · 17/08/2006 17:41

just popping in to report my first heartburn of this preg - lovely!

i didn't get it until the third trimester last time.

oh woe is me!!!

maazaa · 17/08/2006 17:42

Bummer, Sshhh - did it come after eating or drinking something in particular? Roll out the Gaviscon....eugh!

sshhh · 17/08/2006 17:55

came just b4 i posted. i had just finished a piece of buttered baguette ( a wee snack to give me the energy to make dinner!).

i'm feeling more worried now than at any point in my pgre so far - i just need my scan to assure me everything is ok. I've just heard that a friend of a friend had a missed mc recently at about this time.. it has really unsettled me. Ah well. Scan is a week today.

titchy77 · 17/08/2006 18:49

I feel the same shhh i would love another scan just so i know things are progressing o.k, my next one is not untill i'm 20wks dont know whether to pay to have another private one, i have a doppler which gives me reasurrance but still worryed!!

babycheese · 17/08/2006 21:48

Thanks for setting new thread up CurrantBun, hope everyone is ok tonight.

Sshh have also had several early incidences of heartburn already, it is great you get past the sickness and then along comes the indigestion!!!

Thought I felt a movement just before my bath last night but not sure. Can't remember when daughter first moved she was a fidget bum even up to the night she was born and I know she moved quick but seems so early ( 15 + 1)
Probably was wind but it won't be long ladies and the bubba's will all be moving

Yippee can't wait thats when it starts to get nice

babycheese · 17/08/2006 21:52

Oh sorry maazaa was meant to say in my other message that my daughter was a week early and my friend had her 1st on due date so might be sooner than you think. I was really shocked when I went into labour everyone was telling me that I would be late as my mum was 2 weeks over with me.

Rule is that those bubba's come when they want and my little one was just too excited and wanted to get out!!

shanks313 · 18/08/2006 04:49

Its 4.45am and Im awake although tired.

Woke up at 4am needing to pee and with incredible hunger. We ate late last night about 9.30 and since 4am I have eaten a packet of crisps and half a packet of cookies and Im still incredibly hungry.

I dont know what to do now lol.

Tommy · 18/08/2006 10:01

hi guys - nice new thread

I got my appointment for my 20 week scan for the 13 Sept when I'll be err....17 weeks pregnant.
Do you think they are making up for the fact that my 9 week scan was done at 12 weeks?!

Starting to feel less sick and tired now (thank God)but still not complely sympton free. I tend to start feeling sick around 3-4pm which is relly weird especially if I've been feeling OK for the rest of the day.
Hope everyone is OK - we've been away for 3 whole days so I' feel like I've missed a lot

CurrantBun · 18/08/2006 10:15

Have my first scan (nuchal) this morning and am getting nervous. Have never even had a blood test in my life up until now, so will also find out what that's all about at the same time.

Just really panicking that:
a) I'll have had a missed miscarriage and the baby is no longer alive, or
b) we'll be really high risk for Down's and will then have to go through more tests and wait around for the results, and cope with all the stress that entails.

I think I just need to calm down!

Tommy · 18/08/2006 11:06

good luck currantbun. It's such a worrying time isn't it?

julezboo · 18/08/2006 11:29

good luck currentbun, Im sure everything will be fine! Let us know when you get back!!!

sorkycake · 18/08/2006 11:36

Just wanted to say 'good luck' currantbun!

wickymum · 18/08/2006 11:51

Hi guys

I felt my baby move this morning am 15+2. It was very strange it brings back load of memories.

Babycheese, have asnwered your message on the other thread.

Also mention there has anyone experienced any dizzyness. I had this yesterday morning and the midwife advised me not to be on my own. It was very scary. I never had this with my 1st pregnancy.

wickymum · 18/08/2006 11:57

Currentbun I hope its all good news and you have come back feeling totally amazed.

By the way Sshh I have been taking Gaviscon because of heartburn and wind in my tummy sinse 8 weeks. I never had heartburn untill my third trimester 1st time round.

I am being told by other people that I am large for 15 weeks. I blame the stomach muscles.
