Thanks :)

Sunshiny morning at last :)

jersey · 06/06/2006 08:25

Morning, thanks koshka a nice quick thread Grin.

I was told yesterday that my bump looked low, I'm wondering is this means the baby is starting to engage. At the midwife this afternoon so will ask her then, alhtough she will prob. say can't tell as that seems to be her standard response.

Also going to findout if I can use the midwife led suite at the hospital this time, as wanted to with DS but due to PE had to be monitored with consultants standing by. Last visit to hypertension said they thought that if everything stays ok they didn't see any problem. Need to find out if we need to provisionally book it or just request it when I go into labour.

Bump is still very active and braxton hicks most of the day. Anyone else having them almost constantly some days? Had to check what they where Blush as I didn't have them last time around.

Back later.

pinkdolly · 06/06/2006 09:12

Morning gals!

Hope you are all keeping well.

Just a quick question for those homebirthing mummies.
Have you got a hospital bag standing by just in case?

And do you have all the stuff ready yet? My midwife is coming around on thursday to have a chat about my homebirth. But I like to be organised.

Think I am going to have a rest today after my massive clearout yesterday, could hardly move when I got up this morning.

Have a good day and enjoy the sunshine.

Morning ladies

Excellent-a new thread bringing us closer to D-Day Grin

Having quite a few cramps myself and I deffo didn't have them last time. I keep thinking this is it especially as I am permanently pooing (sorry TMI).

Have taken DD's wee sample to the Drs so will see if I hear anything. I still think she has had a reaction to sun lotion as her rash is exactly where I put lotion on. Will try and buy some sensitive skin lotion tomorrow.

My fundal height at 34 weeks was 32 which is on the 50th centile-was on approx 60th so my baby must have slowed down but the MW said all was fine.

DD at MIL's today so going to put my feet up as they did swell slightly yesterday.

jersey-hope your MW visit goes OK.

pinkdolly-make sure you rest today.

Byee for now and love and hugs to all.

Thanks for the reassuring comments folks. I have random fits of paranoia and its good to have somewhere I can express my concerns without feeling silly!

I will see my midwife a week today so I will talk to her about my weight then if I still havent gained any more! I've put on 9kg in total which is according to the books is Ok, but I'm so used to having to battle with my weight and was expecting to gain lots more. Especially as my healthy eating only lasted as long as my morning sickness :) But can I look on the bright side! oh no...

hope everyone is feeling better for seeing the sun

deblaca · 06/06/2006 10:10

my m/w said i was 3/5 palpable - so the little fella's starting to settle in there
NO braxtons as yet - kinda waiting for them to happen as I know they will (its just a matter of feeling them or not)
Pinkdolly - if i do manage to plan for homebirth I was thinking I'd have a hospital bag ready also ....... i thought it would be handy to have to hand either way!
My builders reckon they'll be finished in 2 weeks (can i have a collective positive vibe that it'll happen please)

entrophy - i've put on 11 kgs (thats at 35+3) but i've been scroffing like a ....... (something that eats alot! - said while licking the sugar off my lips from the doughnut i've just eaten and that followed a choccy bar for breakkie) .......

have a good day xx

IamBlossom · 06/06/2006 10:46

MOOOOOORNIIIIIING! Can you tell I am loving leave?

Just been swiming with DS who has now crashed leaving me two blissful hours to Mumsnet.

Anyone else doing ante natal classes second time round? i am going to one tonight with my first timer sister, more for moral support for her really, as her OH isn't going, but I reckon a bit of a refresher can't hurt....

How many pounds in a kilo? I've put on exactly 2 stone this pregnancy, and am 33 weeks tomorrow. Put on a bit more last time I think, although maybe I'll have a surge in these last few weeks, although if I remember I actually lost a bit at the end last time....

It is SUCH a gorgeous day down here in Hampshire, absolutely beeeyootiful.

Hello lovely July mummies

No Braxton Hicks here - didn't have them last time either - should I be Envy or just grateful?!?! Don't like to miss out on stuff!

Feeling rather huge and running out of things to wear in hot weather (already) - not really worth buying more stuff for just 6 weeks though! Just measured myself and I'm 9.5 sheets of loo roll (but feel much bigger). I don't own scales (threw the tyrannical things out years ago) but would be interested to know how much I've put on - will search out friends' bathrooms! I know I was 13.5+ stone just before I had DD though (I'm 5'10") - comforted myself with the fact that I weighed the same amount as Venus Williams at the time!

Really must get my head round packing this hospital bag, but just can't seem to do it. Am I in denial?!

Annie29 · 06/06/2006 11:16

Morning girls and bumps!

What a gorgeous day!! No boring meeting today, so my pelvic floors have to wait, but instead I told the long route into work and stopped off at Knightsbridge for a bit of shopping! I was only half an hour later than usual!! It was lovely walking up in the sun though. I only bought sunglasses and some body butter from the body shop (where I was persuaded to buy some bronzer as well, I know have a tanned pinkish left forearm and right hand... the rest of me is still white as a sheet!).

Entropy I wouldn't worry too much about your weight, I read somewhere that the mother doesn't tend to put weight on for the last month, though the baby puts on half a pound a week! Eek! I lost weight as well, but MW wasnt' bothered, so I'm not worried.
8 and a bit sheets of loo roll this morning.

HC, so glad it's not German measles that your DD has. Hope she gets better soon.

MummytoToby, try not to let people scare you! Anyone who's had kids already (guilty myself) is always rushing to offer advice and say what drama happened to them, but take it all with a pinch of salt, what will be will be, you'll deal with your own birth just fine. We all do!

Haven't had any Braxton Hiccups yet, didn't have any last time. Is this a blessing?

Have people really got their hospital bags packed already? but but but but....

Have a lovely day now girls, take it nice and easy! Enjoy that sun

Hi again.

I packed my bag last night as suddenly thought I should really get around to it. Discovered I was missing a few bits so have made a list for the next shopping trip.

Packing DS's tonight, although the inlaws can allways pop round and get anything is needed as they only live around the corner.

Be glad you don't get BH's as I am finding them very uncomfortable Shock.

nixnoo · 06/06/2006 12:48

Hi all,

Thanks for the new thread!

I have been getting LOTS of Braxton Hicks too, also LO is moving a lot today - more or less constantly sice I got up. Is there ever cause for concern because the baby is moving too much?!

Have concerns about the care I am receiving as I don't know about much of the stuff you all talk about. Centiles??? Not a clue. Weight? Haven't been weighed since first appt. Am now 35 weeks.

Although I did have an appt with dr yesterday and I asked her about Group B Strep. Sge said you normally have symptoms of it - like slightly yellowy / smelly discharge - eeeuw.

My friends threw a big baby shower for me on the weekend, was lovely. the all chipped in and bought me things I need insteadof laods of clothes which was great.

I havent packed my bag yet either! Kinds thought it would be a good thing to do between contractions to pass the time? Perhaps that is tempting fate for a super quick delivery?

oh, it is chocolate time! Grin

Preg head alert. About to go to my midwife appointment and thought I would just check my notes for the date. Errrmmmmmmmmmmm its tomorrow Blush!!!

Twirl · 06/06/2006 16:00

Afternoon ladies
Jersey - lol at your preg head. Mine is just as bad, just had the plumber round to fix the boiler and couldn't remember why I had booked him despite having no hot water! He must have thought I was an idiot!!!
Nixnoo - I had no 'symptoms' of group strep B and have been told that you wouldn't have any as it is a perfectly normal bacteria that lives in your body...
Saw the midwife this morning and it was my first visit at home which saved me the trek to the surgery. Despite the fact that I probably won't be having a homebirth anymore they will still care for me at home and then be present at hospital for either my induction or caesarean (will see the consultant of thurs to argue for c/s). Midwife agrees I should have c/s now because spd is so severe. For info, they advise all homebirthers to have a bag packed for 2 reasons (1) just in case you have to go to hosp; (2) so they can find your bits and bobs easily...

don't say that kayzed ... we're willing the lo to stay in there (until the house is in a fit state to bring him into) ...... he's only 2/5's in there so not engaged (as such!) and i am a first timer and am 35+3 (can you sense the slight mania at the thought .......)

spub · 06/06/2006 21:40

Hi gang,
Glad all are well and nice to get on a new thread!
Am now in day 2 of my mat leave and it's fab! C/s booked for 30th June so I'm trying to make the most of Mons, Tues and Weds til then when dd is at nursery!!
Had to spent £70 on 2 pairs of linen maternity trousers - started this pg in size 12 mat wear and am now in size 16.......but so glad to have the trousers just now; it's so hot and they are as comfy as jammies!
My bag is mostly packed - still need to track down peppermint cordial (any ideas?)and stuff like oat biscuits and dried apricots to snack on.
I think I may ask for a private room for the first night, at least. Not sure I'll be up for a 4 bed room with a bunch of strangers immediately post op!
Am also having braxton hicks, very breathless and feeling huge and uncomfortable. Not long to go!
Hope to get online a bit more now and be more of a converationalist! Meantime, take care all of you.

Twirl · 06/06/2006 21:45

Hi spub, good to hear you are well. Have you tried a health food shop for peppermint cordial? I think peppermint tea is supposed to be good for cs too. Quick question, were you able to chose the day of your cs or do the hospital just tell you?

jersey · 07/06/2006 08:11

Morning. Right midwife def today Blush!

Spent all last night with strong Braxton Hicks, DH wanted to know if they where real contractions as they where that strong, but eventually stopped so guess not.

Baby kicking already this morning, too energetic for me! Don't know about anyone else but wasn't it hot last night!!!!!!!

Wondering if all this activity and strong BH's mean the baby might come early? Anyone any ideas? Might put a question on the preg threads just out of interest.

Oh well suppose I had better look like I'm working!!!!!!!

dangirl · 07/06/2006 08:57

Morning Lovely LadiesSmile

I love this weather!! Soo nice that the sun is finally out and it makes it a whole lot easier to entertain DD.

35+4 today. Can't believe it. It really is coming soon nowShock

A friend of mine had her 1st baby yesterday. 6/6/6. She was joking that it would probably become that day about a week earlier. All went well apparantlySmile

I have had LOADS of BH practically all the way through this pregnancy!! They don't concern me anymore and also they are not painful. The clever people say not to worry so...

I really could do with another pair of maternity summer trousers but don't really want to spend the money at this stage. Would rather spend it on something nice afterwardsSmile If I can get to the shops that is...

8 1/2 loo sheets and gained ca 12-13 kg.
Still haven't packed my bag but think I have got most things in one drawer anyway. Not sure what to actually wear for the event. Think I will like something on the top half for at least the first stage.

Hope all are well on this beautiful day! EnjoySmile

Hugs from
Trine

HumphreysCorner · 07/06/2006 09:33

Morning ladies

Have one of those headaches from hell accompanied by swollen ankles. Did think that the next time I got this headache that it would be 'time'. Getting obsessed now by looking for shows. Seeing the MW tomorrow (deffo jersey Grin) so will see what my BP is. Perhaps it is down to the hot weather.

DH going to start papering the nursery tonight-whoopee! He keeps saying that the room seems to be taking a long time-well, it is all his own doing. Trouble is he is itching to go out on his bike because of the lovely weather. Nooooooooo!

I am wearing a nightie again for the birth like last time. Bigger size than my Wallace & Gromit one that I attempted to wear and which the midwives took off me due to the intense heat.

Still 9 1/2 sheets of loo roll so I think that is the most I am going to be. 13st 4lb and that is now after cereal, toast and tea and in jeans. Was 13st 6lb last week so have lost some weight. Did cut out toast but need it to soak up the headache tablets. Have put on nearly 2 stone. Don't understand kg girls-soz.

dangirl-congrats to your friend. Smile

Right, got shopping to do today so byee for now.

Love and hugs to all.

jersey · 07/06/2006 09:52

Hi HC, I have some swelling and headaches as well, suspect its the heat. Haven't been weighted for a while but when last checked nearly 1.5 stone gained Shock.

Congrats to your friend dangirl. Wasn't 6lb 6 born at 6:00 was it??? Grin.

nixnoo · 07/06/2006 10:00

A tip for those who want some summer trousers but don't want to spend much money this late in pregnancy:

I went to Primark and just bought some linen trousers 2 sizes bigger than my pre-preg size... only £6, 100% linen, sits below the bump. And I alsoo just got some t-shirts that are big there too, £4-6 and long enough to cover the bump.... bargain! (and "quite" funky!)

enjoy the weather ladies! feeling decidely sluggish today

35+3

x

IamBlossom · 07/06/2006 10:38

Nixnoo I also bought loads of stuff at Primark first time round and it was great, dead cheap.

I have however bought two pairs of maternity cut offs from DP this time round, one khaki one cream, and they are fabulous and cool. COULD not inflict shorts on anyone else although have been lent some, I look like Humpty Dumpty in them, some standards have to remain. Was VERY cross yesterday, when DS upended his spag bol on the cream pair though - had to count to ten several times, and managed not to shout.

Went to ante natal with my sister last night, topic was signs of labour, I have to say that I found it really helpful despite learning nothing new. It brought back lots of memories of the first time round, and reminded me how frequent contractions should be (1 every 2-3 minutes lasting 60ish seconds) before you go to the hospital but that you can ring any time for advice. My pet fear this time and last was rocking up at the hospital to be told to go home, which they reiterated last night does happen alot, particulary for first timers. I remember seeing a couple camping out in the tv room last time, who flaty refused to go home, which was ridiculous as she was clearly not in established labour but I can understand how she felt. I was 6 cm dilated by the time I got in last time and definitely feeling it, had to keep stopping on the way from the car to have a contraction and moan, until some thoughtful soul brought us a wheelchair....

Other stuff they were talking about included waters breaking and their different colours and to use a pad to catch the flow so they could look at (and smell!!!!) the evidence when you went in! There really is nothing dignified about this business is there? I must say though that I came away DEAD excited about the imminence of it all and the fact that I am really going to have another little sproglet, hurray! All the mess and muck and pain is soooooo worth it, oooh I might cry!

Right i'll shut up, have a good day everybody!
