spub · 13/06/2006 11:50

Hi gang -
a bit cooler today in Scotland, thank God. Didn't have to sleep in only my enormous pants with the window open and fan going full tilt last night!
DD is being a madam and I'm struggling not to lose my patience. Think she senses that her days as an only child are numbered!!
We're having a barbie for 14 mates on Sat night as I guess it might be our last hurrah for a while!
My ladybits are still throbbing and I'm definitely feeling a lot of pressure down in my groin. Made up by birth CD at the weekend so I can have the songs of choice on in the operating theatre! Decided I wouldn't need Salt n Pepa's "push it"!!!!
Hope you're all well and that the ankles are vaguely visible.( I get cankles in the evenings when my calves and ankles morph into one big blob!!!)
Take care!

Annie29 · 13/06/2006 11:51

Morning everyone,

Anyone twinging today???
Had a really bad night last night, the heat was unbearable, despite DH's purchase of two fans. I was just laying there, til I could bear it no longer, I had to get up and sit right in front of the fan, then I came over all queasy, and had to leg it to the loo, where I threw up all over the seat/wall/floor... whoops! Several times... tried to clean it up best I could (which wasn't very good!!) and then went back to bed, where DH woke up and tried to make me comfy, bless him by turning the fan on me. Eventually dozed off half sitting up, for around 3 hours, then had to get up to wee again...
Don't know what brought that on.
Feel a bit funny still today, but ok really. It was bucketing down this morning here in London, but it's still roasting.

DS is being adorable these days! He's getting so cheeky and boyish, he's 14months now, but he's also getting really cuddley, and actually kisses us on the mouth. He knows where 'baby' is (belly button!) and kisses baby too!! very sweet... I can't believe how number two can be anywhere as gorgeous, but I'm sure time will tell.

Well hope you ladies are ok today and taking it as easy as poss. Thanks to Bloss and KZ for covering for me yesterday, I skived off nice and early around 3.30. Might do the same today!! No bosses around this week. Well, if they can skive, don't see why I can't.

No bags packed yet. Still plenty of time...
Good luck with scans, girls.

Have a good day, say close to the fridge...

Annie

What i meant was, STAY close to the fridge. Saying "close to the fridge" won't be of any use to anyone...

Annie29 · 13/06/2006 11:54

LOL spub, at cankles!!!!

kbaby · 13/06/2006 12:24

Ive been back in hospital again. I went in on Sunday with severe stomache cramps. It hurt everytime I or baby moved. They said my temp and heart rate were up and babies was upto 190bpm so they put me on an iv and took wee sample. Everything came back clear but today I have developed 7 big spots so im off to the gp's as I think its chicken pox. The hospital was dreadful again and I waited 9hrs to be given a bed and considering I was dehydrated and needed an IV urgently(according to the consultant) it still took them 3 hrs to do it.

Thank god its so much cooler today.

I cant decide how many bags to take either, last time I took 1 for me and 1 for baby but this time I seem to have loads more stuff and cant fit it all in.

spub · 13/06/2006 12:35

Bloody hell KBaby - you're having no luck at all. Can't believe you had to wait all that time. Dreadful. Hope it's not the pox though it's doing the rounds here along with scarletina!
Annie, sorry you had such a crap night. I hate throwing up at the best of times but when you can't really bend over cos of the bump then it' sounds much more nasty than usual.
Off to the cinema to see summat crappy this afternoon with some friends whose kids are also in childcare til 4pmGrin & evil mother emoticon.
Looking forward to jelly sweets and popcorn.
Hope all well.
(37 weeks today)

HumphreysCorner · 13/06/2006 12:36

kbaby-things are a bit rough for you hun. Hope it isn't chicken pox in this heat. Take care hun ((xx))

Annie-the heat just doesn't help and I think we all feel a bit nauseous at the moment. Keep dinking water and eating little and often. ((xx))

Girls-my hairdresser has sent me a text to say she has had her baby boy-ha, the string test is still 100% accurate. La la la!!!! Grin

Bye for now

Anopheles · 13/06/2006 13:45

kbaby, wishing you lots of luck at the doctors. Hope you will be ok now. You've had it very rough.

Thanks HC and spub, I'm feeling much better now. Seems like nothing when compared to what's happening to kbaby. I know we're all suffering in the heat.

Oh yeah, I've just changed my name for the laugh, though it's only in my own head really that I find it funny...

Still me, Annie 35+5

nixnoo · 13/06/2006 13:52

Please remind me which way round the string test goes? I always forget!!

kbaby - hope things are OK?

I went to MW yesterday and requested a group B Strep test which she did straight away, although I have to say I was quite unprepared for what it entailed.... vaginal AND anal swab! whimper. But at least it is done, and I can rest easy. Well, if you ignore the swollen feet (The cockney rhyme "Plates of meat" has never been more appropriate).
And then the MW was quite sweet, telling me I had such a lovely bump: good shape, no stretch marks. And I said "Except for all the mozzie bites!" cos I was attacked the other night by them. She looked very concerned and said she would have to take blood incase it is a rash casue by liver problems rather than bites?!? I am glad she is being cautious BUT - yikes - I have the biggest bruise on my arm now.

Sorry for the waffling! I think the heat has affected my brain.

Am off for a massage in a bit - ahhh bliss.

Salt n Pepa's "push it" made me LOL! Can you imagine?

Also battling to hoist myself out the bath, are we going to get much bigger?

Hello gals

Should have called the thread Puffy feet anonymous (sp)!

getting squeezy feelings in my bits and really bad crampy pains its really weird.
Went to hospital again today, and the result of the 24hour wee was that my protein was rising, and today my wee was only +. have to go back tomorrow to see the consultant

Good new thought - i found out my blood group!!!
its been in my hospital notes, but noone told my midwife that i see at the GP surgery....O+, which i suppose makes sense, as my mum is O- and was told when she had me it might be dangerous to have more babies (that and her horrendous pre-eclampsia)

looks like im more like my mum than i realised (god dam..)

agalch · 13/06/2006 18:20

Hi ladies

Nice here today without being too boiling.I don't have any aches/pains at all.The worst i can complain of is the frequent weeing day and night.

Baby is still brech despite my best efforts at positioning the little monkey.I have a reflexology appt on thurs before i see the mw.I hope to get 3/4 sessions in before im 37 weeks.

Really need to pin my mw down about when a c/s would happen if baby is still breech and ecv isn't successful. If its 39 weeks i will have to tell my mindees parents i will have to finish a week earlier than planned.

Anyway, hope all you girls keep well and i'll let you know how the reflexology and mw appt went.

Take care
xx

AggiePanther · 13/06/2006 18:22

Poor you kbaby - sounds rotten :(
HC -I reckon something might be going on there - you've only got a little while to go haven't you ...how exciting!!
Just heard from my friend down the road (she's on the june thread) that her waters have broken so they're going to induce her tomorrow ..I'm so excited for her...plus I'll have a little baby to practice on! :)

janeOT · 13/06/2006 18:26

RAIN AT LAST......Pure bliss!!

RANT ALERT
Saw my MW today for my birth plan, what a waste of time! Didn't listen to anything I said, sure sign of things to come during the birth! so much for empowering women and their labour experience! AND on top of all that completely contradicted herself regarding my placenta and what will happen if its still low lying on Thurs so I guess I'll just have to wait and see!!Angry

Glad thats off my chest!!
Cheers, hope your all OK and having better experiences during your countdown to B-day! Smile
Speak soon

puddytat99 · 13/06/2006 18:39

Kbaby - Take care of yourself hun, sounds like you're having a really terrible time.

HC - Just did the ring test (me, DH, then DS) all 3 got it going in a circle, so a Girl!!! I'll let you know.

Went swimming today and felt so much better (grin) Can't believe I'm almost 37 weeks now. Taking just 1 bag, which is more or less ready now. Also went shopping to buy DS's girlfriend a birthday present. She's 12 this week and he'll be 12 next Friday.

Off to see mw to discuss birth plan on Friday. Hope I have better luck than you did Jane.

Been feeling the same as most of you. Really swollen feet, still got my ankles so far. Have been getting lots of twinges and living in the loo, which doesn't help my IBS. So have the pains from that too, which isn't much fun.

Hope you're all feeling a bit cooler today. Take care of yourselves and your bumps.

IamBlossom · 13/06/2006 19:30

Evening oh fat ones.

Much cooler here today with rain this evening, so that's been a relief. Have felt KNACKERED all day though, not being helped by DS waking every morning at 5.50am. I meant that's just unsociable. He does make up for it marginally by having a 2/5 hour kip at 10am every morning I suppose but by 11a, I'm knackered and ready for bed!

Took him swimming this monring which he loves, and then packed him off to nursery for the afternoon, so managed to get chores done, including making a shepherds pie (if you knew me you would know how out of the ordinary this is - i don't do cooking) and squeezed in three episodes of Sex in the city....Grin

Just done loo roll test and am 9 squares. I hope I don't get much bigger, sitting, lying, walking, all very uncomfortbale now and I've still got 6 weeks to go!!! Shock

KBaby you poor thing, you are going through the mill. Annie your vomfest doesn't sound like much fun either. Hugs.

No swelling here thank god, yet I should say, although didn't get any last time either....

Right off to try my own cooking, let you know if I'm still here to tell the tale tomorrow.

Bloss

Straightforward · 13/06/2006 19:48

Evening all!

Been reading you regularly but haven't had much time to post of late, so here's my (not so brilliant) news: baby is lying oblique transverse and seems to be stuck there. MW will check again next week, then book me in for a scan to see whether there's room to do an ECV(sp?), but she said there often isn't with this sort of lie. Meanwhile, my chinese dr has given me 'teabags' of herbs to put in a footbath every night and some stick things to burn over points on my foot, which apparently will help things move.

If none of this works then it looks like I'll get a c-s, which at first sounded quite convenient, but I just dread the prospect of being able to do bugger all for the 6 weeks of the summer hols with restless DD around... Convenient birth followed by hospital stay and long, potentially painful recovery, or several hours of squeezing a very large thing through a very small hole? Oh the choices available to us!! Will someone please invent a matter transporter (in manner of Star Trek) within the next few weeks?!?!?

Chat2Ali · 13/06/2006 19:51

Finally managed to catch up on all yer posts! Hearing how close some are to labour makes it all seem so soon. Frankly in this heat the sooner LO comes now the better, but still have 5 weeks to go...

I feel like I've been on another planet with the parents here. Yelled at step-dad last night when DH and I were preparing dinner and he was sitting watching us work and boring us by talking about himself. I told him this is NOT a hotel and he needed to help if he was going to hang out in the kitchen. Then after dinner I had to remind him we don't have a waiter here to clear up his plate for him. FFS, they are s'posed to be here to look after me, so having to make sure he gets given dinner pisses me off. Mum is still in York with her sis until tommorrow, so hopefully he won't bug me as much when she's back.

Chat2Ali · 13/06/2006 20:04

Straightforward - LOL at matter transporter. I think you just might be on to something though - the next advancement in childbirth after the epidural!

PinkDolly - Where did you find the raspberry leaf tea? I went to 2 healthfood shops last week and didn't find any. Mind you, I was busy with other chores like buying clothes to wear to a wedding and getting ready for parents to arrive, so didn't stay to ask the busy staff in the shops. Must go back and get some.

Parents are going on a trip next week, and I fully intend to try everything on the list for bring on early labour. DH excited about sex and nipple stimulation. It has been a bit of a dry spell for the last little while Wink

KZ - I am with you re: this heat. I think its worse because London is so damp and humid. Also, in Sydney you can hang out in any Westfields to stay cool. Yesterday I looked online to see what was on at the cinema, as I planned to hibernate in a cold dark place for a while, but there was NOTHING on that appealed to me. Mind you, I am so tired lately I could just go to any thing and have a bit of a kip. It would be worth the money. I wonder what they'd say if I turned up with my pillow? LOL

kbaby - hope you are feeling better soon, and same to Annie.

(((hugs)))to all
Ali

maewest · 13/06/2006 20:22

Evening all, nothing interesting to report, feel so far behind some of you (33+5). DH has cooked dinner 2 nights in a row, so nice to put my feet up. Just worked out that if I take next Friday off work (wedding anniversary) that I only have 12 working days left. Bit scary actually!

sunita123 · 13/06/2006 21:10

Good evening ladies,

Kbaby hope you are felling better.

Straightforward - Hope that baby turns for you.

Aglach - hope that your baby turns soon too.

I went to the hospital for a tour last weekend - The MW showing us around said that they were closed for women in labour. Closed?

Apparently if you rang up saying that you are in labour, they would try to send you to another hospital in the area for your delivery.

Anyway I've had my scan today. Baby is engaged. So I can stop worrying about having a CS. Also spoke to the Consultant, (Very nice lady - Why can't all MW's be like her?) Spoke to her regarding my concerns of getting to the hospital in time. She suggested a Homebirth.
Anyone here had one?
Is it messy?
What happens if when the time comes you have complications?
Is it too late to be thinking about a homebirth?(I'm 35 wks)
Was the fact that the hospital was really busy on the weekend a reason for the Cons. to suggest a homebirth?
Hmmmmmmm.
Methinks I will also ask the other MNers.

Anyway, look after youselves ladies.

Suni

Good evening everyone,
Never usually get time to post as always seem to spend ages catching up with everyone's news. But thought I would join in with the M/W rant. Whenever I go to seem mine (and I have yet to see the same person more than once) they always write "feeling fit and well" but today when I turned up with a list of ailments as long as my arm thought I would get a sympathetic ear. But no! Got a tube of piles cream literally thrown at me and an entry in my notes saying "all is well" From where I am sitting (very uncomfortably), all is not well!
DH is out tonight watching football and then is off to Germany tomorrow for three days to watch more, then off on Sunday doing London to Brighton bike ride so I am beginning to think he is deliberately trying to avoid us.
But enough ranting ( not good for the blood pressure) main thing is LO seems to be cooking nicely (bit too nicely in fact as consultant reckoned it would be another 9 pounder!) and it is a bit cooler today and I am booked in for a pedicure tomorrow - despite not being able to see my feet anymore!
REally getting excited waiting for the first birth announcement from this thread - sure it won't be long now.
Sleep well.
