Hi all,

Really nice weather here still, really lucky it kicked in as I finished work, perfectly timed!!!

Good luck to ladies who are having shows and pains!

HC - I hear you on the 4-5 times a day pain in the bum (almost literally) barely want to leave the house now!!!

Oh as for nappy bags in hospital, I was thinking about that yesterday I'm not going to bother thats what the clinical waste bins are for!!

Anyhow going to go back outside for a bit I think, make the most of it Grin

Speak soon

Hi,

Ive spent the last 2 days in hospital as I started contracting in work on wednesday. A bit scary as im only 33 weeks. They put me on a monitor to measure them and gave me steriods for the babies lungs and some tablets to stop the contractions. I also had to speak to the pediatritions on the scbu about what would happen. Thankfully everything has stopped and im home now. I had only just packed my bag and fogotten loads of things so at least it gave me time to think of what else needed packing, ie toothpaste, hair bobbles.

Whoever said antibacterial wipes were needed. You were right, one toilet I had to use had blood all over the handbasin.
The wards are boiling so Im taking a flannel to dip in cold water, magicool stuff, loads of drinks and lots of spare change for the vending machines.

Ive decided to stick with the main hosp for the birth. Even though they were so short staffed. One lady on my ward(I was put in the c section maternity ward) her baby was in scbu she asked in the evening if she could go and see him as she hadnt seem him and wanted to say good night and they told her she couldnt as they were short staffed. Its terrible. I didnt get much sleep as the babies kept crying and the midwifes keep the lights on until 12pm.

They scanned the baby this morning and its got loads of hair already. You could see it sticking up on the scan. Its tummy is also measuring 36 weeks!!! so its going to be a fatty.

Twirl · 09/06/2006 21:47

Kbaby, welcome back. You poor thing, it must have been a real shock for you. I'm so glad you are back home now - the little one must have decided to hold on a bit longer which must be a big relief. Postnatal wards aren't the best are they, for cleanliness or rest! Have the doctors said what caused the contractions?

Hello!

Just got back from hospital!
Went in, they werent really bothered abvout my show or anything, as my blood pressure was 150/105, when it is usually 120/60!
Also protein in my wee was +++ (if that makes sense)

So had to stay in...

They let me go today, but i have to pee in a jug, and take it back tonight after the football (thats what the doctor said!!)

So i feel ok apart from monster feet and im STARVING!!

Good to hear from you Koshka, hope you're feeling ok now. Good luck later!!

HumphreysCorner · 10/06/2006 12:12

koshka-pleased to hear from you. That BP must be the highest ever. With DD I went to the MW on the Thurs before due date of Sunday and BP was up and there was protein in my wee so was admitted for monitoring. Let me go at 5pm then labour started the following morning at 3am. Hope your next wee sample is fine. ((xx))

Annie-too busy getting a suntan to have a baby-lol!

Take care all

Frustrating - have been having probs with our tinterweb connection, so haven't been able to get onto MN. Koshka, glad to hear you're ok, and Kbaby.

It is boiling in Bristol today. Went to look round the delivery suite today, there must have been about 30 people on the tour, so there was lots of shuffling in and out of rooms. Also they kept us waiting for about 20 mins and was starting to feel a bit icky as hosps have to be the most overheated places in the world! If my blood tests come back normal next week I'm def still pushing for a homebirth. The unit was fine, but it's still not my home IYSWIM.

Going to pick my mum up from the station soon, she's staying over for my 'baby shower' tomorrow, which should be good fun.

Oh well, off to sit by the fan and crunch ice cubes (my new hobby :))

pinkdolly · 10/06/2006 19:54

Evening ladies,

Koshka and Kbaby glad to hear that you are doing ok. Must have been a bit of a scare.

Regarding my DD2 running into me the other day, I am ok now. Baby was kicking all day and still seems to be kicking a lot so I know she is fine. My tummy is a bit bad tho, feel like I've been winded and been having strongish braxton hicks on and off since then. I dont think it's anything to worry about, just jarred myself when she hit me.

Also got funny pain in my left leg (radiating from my groin), so think I pulled something there aswell. That's a good excuse to get DH to do lots of housework while he is home this weekend.Wink

I weighed myself again today. For the last 4 weeks I have been 11st 2, today I am 11st 1. Saw MW on thursday ands she says baby is right size so it's me not getting any bigger. Would like to shout yippee but I think this has happened to others on here and they have caught up. So hedging my bets.

Was 12st 4 at end of my first pg, wots the chance i'll be less this time?

Well, I am shattered today so am gonna take myself off to my lovely bed. Nite nite girls.

bumpybel · 10/06/2006 20:38

Evening girls...

Kbaby... hope everythings still fine with you and Koshka... you rest up.

These period type pains are doing my head in. I can go about four hours with nothing and then a run of crappy period pains on an off for ages. If it was PMT i would be feeling very sorry for myself, but because it seems to be to do with the baby, each time i get one I wonder what it means! The midwife says that it can be a good two weeks that i'll be like this and its just my body preparing, but it's not knowing what to expect on a day to day basis that is wierd now. Contemplating using tens machine to try and help back ache and midwife says that would be ok, but i dont want to start using it if the pain is going to get lots worse.. i might want to save it for big pain!! What do you guys think?

DH is working afternoons and nights this weekend and I've ordered him to keep his mobile on at all times, as even though she said it could be a couple of weeks, I dont know what to expect.... ow is the time when I could do with a large bacardi and coke!

MummyToToby · 10/06/2006 20:41

keep having period like pains and feeling like i need to poo again. don't suppose it will amount to much. had this last weekend with backache and severe diarrhoea and it all went quiet. i think when i am actually in labour i won't believe it. i'll be convinced its baby out to trick me again! MW said on friday baby has gone down into the pelvis but she didn't say how much engaged he was grrrr. meant to ask but forgot in the middle of her ringing up about some bloods, which they STILL haven't finished with. they don't seem to see the connection between pregnant lady and time running on... another week of them faffing around is quite a lot when i have less than 4 to go!MW was not impressed with them to say the least lol.

bumpybel · 10/06/2006 20:42

.. On the braxton hicks front.. i thought i was having them a couple of months back, when my tummy went like a heavy boulder every so often... but now they seem to make my whole tummy (upper and lower) go really really hard.. (not painful) so am wondering if the other things were braxton hicks at all!

bumpybel · 10/06/2006 20:45

Mummyto toby.. whats your due date again? Thats spooky.. I had diarhorrea (sp?)on thursday and lots of poo since... but nothing more than period pains and back ache. I'm 37 weeks on tues.

jom · 10/06/2006 21:49

Wow, it all seems to be starting! Although nothing to report from here. (Except huge swollen feet) Who's going to be the first?? Good luck everyone and try to take it easy. Smile

Twirl- I had a similar thing on my DD but I was only 23 weeks then so the doctors wouldnt try to stop anything. Luckily again they went on their own but I did notice that my BH increased throughout the rest of the pregnancy esp if I walked too much etc.

kayzed - Tbh they felt the same as bh just a bit stronger, they feel as if a belt is being pulled around your tummy and you can feel the tightness rising. They didnt feel like the contractions I had with DD but the monitor was recording them as contrations.

HumphreysCorner- They just suggested taking it easy and to go back in if I get them again and they are frequent Ie 1 in 10

koshka1984 - Im glad everything is ok.

bumpybel- When I went in to hospital on Wednesday I called DH at 12pm and eventually at 4pm I managed to get through to him because his phone had been switched offAngry def make sure your DH keeps his on.

I cant beleive that some of you are so close to delivery. Where has all the time gone?
I think im one of the last as im due end of July.

kbaby · 11/06/2006 10:56

Is it only me or is anyone else feeling really fed up with everything.

Yesterday I just wanted to get into bed and cry all day. Poor DD is getting the brunt of it as im so snappy with her, I was boiling hot, DH was peeing me off because im fed up of going around after him and tidying up. Yesterday I took DD to a party while he was to gloss the doors and I came home to find him sleeping on the settee.
I dont think I can cope with another baby. I feel as if im just chasing my tail by trying to keep the house clean and tidy.

bumpy - i'm 37 weeks on friday. so you're due on the 4th?

as kayzed said could be baby engaging. has your mw said yours has started to engage yet? i told mine about the pains and then when she felt baby she said he had started to go down into the pelvis.

Annie29 · 11/06/2006 13:15

Good luck to you all having aches and pains. Tis true the last month is very hard, but we're nearly there!!
Kbaby, you will cope when the new baby comes, don't worry. Try and forget about keeping the place spotless, it's not as important as looking after yourself these last few weeks, specially in this heat. Take advantage of everyone!!
Had some sharp pains too this morning, but not contractions or anything, just needed to sit down really. Had an extra couple of hours sleep as DH took Ds in the other room, instead of letting him jump on the bed with us as he usually does! Poor DH has a sore head today, not that it's not his own fault... He hasn't been on a proper session for a long time, but he really went for it yesterday! Couldn't sleep for his snoring last night.

Oh the heat...

Hope everyone is taking it easy today, it's too hot to do anything other than eat ice-cream.
