elizabuff · 02/05/2006 10:06

Inducing you this week bugs? That really does make it seem imminent! Have I missed out on the reason why?

vbab78 · 02/05/2006 12:27

I need a little bit of advice ladies regarding nursing bras ... Is it around 35 weeks (now) I should go and get fitted OR would you wait to see how breast feeding goes before buying them?

Laura032004 · 02/05/2006 13:11

Personally I'd leave it as late as possible to get measured for nursing bras. Alternatively, get some less fitted ones that are more like crop tops. \link{http://www.figleaves.com/uk/nsf/qwiseranswered.asp?searchhandle=DADADJDHDADADDDGDIGCDHDJGDDHGEDFCNDJDHGBGCCNDEDJDDDECNGBGFGBDECNDCDGDJGCDGGBDDDHDADEDEDJDADADADBDADADADADEGCHCGBHDDADADADEDADADADADADADADBDFDADADADBDADADADADADADADADADADADADBDADADADADEGCHCGBHDDADADADBDB&answerhandle=DCCDDDDIDCCDDHDGDI&answerhandleback=DCCDDBDIDJCDDDDGDA&originalquery=Bras&answer=1&answer=1&answer=1&answer=1&answer=DCCDDDDIDCCDDHDGDI&answer=1&answer=1\Bravado bras} are a good option, as they fit across a range of sizes, and are very good for early days.

I bought a couple of crop top style ones (you can also get a cheaper version (much!) from Asda), and a couple of M&S ones. Then after my boobs had settled down after the birth/engorgement I got measured again and bought a few more expensive ones. HTH :)

blobsmummy · 02/05/2006 14:13

Yippee for a new thread!! Smile

My stats:

me: 26
DH: 26
Live: Medway, Kent (wonderfully close to Bluewater!)
Due: well, I'd know if they stopped changing their minds - currently 13/06, but could be end of May (please, please, please, please let it be end of may! There's a lot of us hoping for may Smile) Expecting DD
Birth planned: natural as poss., gas and air, massage, yelling at DH etc etc

Been to midwife today and baby is in the correct position, so I've got my bags all packed and the nursery is all decked out - we're ready for lift-off!!

Welcome elizabuff. Vbab - hope everything works out alright over the next few weeks - this baby lark is stressful enough without the added pressure. I'm in the unfortunate position that I'd LOVE my IL's to go on hoilday when the baby is due, but they are refusing to leave the country! I showed MIL the nursery last week and she burst into tears - in fact, she cries at any mention of the baby - thinking of banning her from hospital to see DD until she can pull herself together a bit - it's not a pretty sight Grin.

Got diagnosed with SPD today Sad which is making life a bit more difficult. Goddness knows what I'll actually be like at the birth, I'm groaning and moaning enough as it is just walking up stairs. It's finally made DH realise though that I really am not finding this very pleasant any more, so he keeps making me sit down and rest - bless!

Sorry, I never seem to be able to write a short posting.... Grin.
I'll shut up now!

slinkstah · 02/05/2006 14:36

those bravado bras are really confortable, you can get them half price from surestart btw

waswondering - you're not alone. Whenever DP pulls up at the local petrol station I have to get out of the car to have a sniff. I make him take a trip there even if its only for a fiver's worth. Am thinking I may be slightly obsessed! :)

mrsbabookaloo · 02/05/2006 17:38

Hello. This might be the thread where it all starts happening!

My stats again:

Me: 32 tomorrow
DH: 35
first baby
Live: SE London
Due: 04/06/06
Birth planned: in hospital, but natural as I can manage: definitely want to use the pool.

vbab: thanks for asking about nursing bras: i'd been feeling confused about it too. Thanks for the advice Laura.

Bugs: how come they might induce you this week? Hope everything's OK.

LilacBump: I have a birthing ball: I try to sit on it at home instead of a hard chair, and it's better for you than slumping back on the sofa - although I still do plenty of that! I can't seem to get the hang of leaning over it, like you're supposed to in labour: it hurts my boobs!

I had a breastfeeding workshop today at the hospital. Felt a bit daft with the doll at first, but it was good to practise getting the baby in the right position, and by the end I was quite attached to my dolly!

diddle · 03/05/2006 10:35

oh my god bugs, THIS WEEK for induction!!!! thats very soon, how exciting.

Happybebe - hope all is ok with your little one Smile good luck for the scan.

lilacbump - our hospital has birthing balls on the maternity ward, loads of them, and i think they're fab so will probably use one, can imagine me bouncing around like i'm on a space hopper round my room Grin
Its lovely and sunny here in the midlands today, woudl be lovely for baby to come on a day like this.

Vbab - i have bought one nursing bra already, just so i knew i had one, but think i will go int he next week or two to be measured for one, although my boobs are gonna get bigger i would imagine the nearer the date comes, as they'll start producing milk, but I'm sure mothercare will know whats best to do. i'm going there tonight so will ask and let you know.

blobsmummy - love your birth plan, esp the yelling

Mrsbabookaloo - happy birthday to you Grin hope you're having a fab day.

I do have an obsession with smells too, but not nice smells. I seem to be able to smell gross damp, weird gone off chicken, all through my house, which is awful, nobody elee can smell it though. Its flippin annoying.

i've been to our local ante-natal classes this morning. it felt a bit weird being there as i've already had a baby before but it was such good fun. we all laughed so much and i did learn some new things.

OP posts:
blobsmummy · 03/05/2006 14:24

Waswondering - my DH did some painting last night in our cellar - paint fumes make me happy Grin. I too finish work on Friday.

Thanks everyone for the info on nursing bras - very useful. I've started making a little colostrum already (well, the left boob has - not quite sure what the right one is doing!), but bizarrely, my boobs have actually shrunk a little in size. My body seems to specialise in doing the unusual at the mo, just to keep me on my toes Wink.

Have started to feel less scared and more impatient/excited about what's ahead of us. My only fear is that you'll all be on June post-natal thread and I'll be here, left behind and all by myself!

I've got my first antenatal class tomorrow evening. I'm glad LilacBump that you had a good time - so many people have tried to tell me not to bother going, but if other people there are prepared to have a laugh, then I can imagine that we'll have some fun. Must remember to ask about birthing balls...

It's all sooooo exciting!! Smile
