Welcome Yummymummy24 & congratulations!

Trinity - so pleased that your scan went well

Dana - I'm really sorry to hear about your mum. Post on here all you want about it, I hope we can all give you lots of support. You will also get some from the people that post on the Health forum I'm sure. It's lovely that you can feel the baby kicking - and it won't be long before your mum can too.

Gosh Lilac - how terrible that the infection is still there. They really need to help you to get on top of this. Can they give you stronger a/b's? Have you tried the alternative type treatments?

bubbly1973 - we're in Helston, which is down near the Lizard. Miles from anywhere! I'm not from here though - DH is in the Navy, so we've been stationed here since Aug 04. I've never been to Mevagissy - you know what it's like when you live somewhere, you never make the most of it! We tend to frequent lots of child friendly play parks!!

Hope everyone else is well - there seem to be a lot of people on the stats list who haven't posted for a while.

laura, have you been to keynance cove? its the turning just before lizard point, its one of the best beaches ive ever been to,

thank goodness for a new thread by the way

Laura032004 · 06/01/2006 22:31

No, we tend to go to Church Cove which is a bit closer to us. Even though the Lizard is only about 10 miles away, it can be quite a long drive. I've just looked at some photos of it though, and it looks gorgeous, so we'll have to have a look next time we're down at the Lizard

yay a new thread!

i went to the doctor yesterday and it had all been a misunderstanding. the lady at reception had given me the results of my previous sample and the results of the latest one will come back on monday. still in pain though, but trying to manage with paracetamol.
DP isn't very supportive as he is a man. heh. when he had a cold last week it was the end of the world. but when is pregnant fiancee has one illness after another it's annoying because he has to help out more. he doesn't seem to get that being pregnant my body is mostly concentrating on making this baby grow rather than healing me.
anyway, hopefully i can stop moaning about this soon. thank you all for your support with this. i really just want to be healthy for the next 5 months.

Yummymummy24 · 07/01/2006 20:06

Yummymummy24 · 07/01/2006 22:36

hi bubbly, been to gp with rash he said its a viral rash put moisturiser on it so when i went to mw showed it her. She said she'd never seen one before like it, i'm getting refered to dermatologist by her if it hasnt gone by 30th when i go for 20wk scan. Yes i can feel movement, like gentle kicks or wind.

icklmum · 08/01/2006 15:52

hi ppl!
im a new-ish member, im 25 and expecting my 2nd June 11 this year. A totally unexpected preggy as i was on the pill, but then hey nothing's totally safe these days is it!
My other little one is 5 in feb and looking forward to being a big bro. dp,28 took a lot of convincing that things would be ok and we wouldnt be terribly broke for the rest of eternity, but he seems to have come round to the idea now i have a bump.
im about 18 weeks now and feeling lots of kicks and pokes. Im totally thrilled to be doing it all again

abbey1515 · 08/01/2006 16:11

Hi everyone, and congratulations to all newcomers!
Lilac, how are you feeling now?
I went to leeds shopping yesterday and bought my first items of maternity wear- although not really the things I went for- trousers mainly- as sales still on and everything a nightmare and so busy! BUT! I bought two bump bands and they are indeed brilliant- they also now have them in other colours. So, I can wear my normal trousrs undone for now with the band over the top which is such a relief!
Update on stats btw- DH and I both 29 now, and I suppose 'EDD' date is now just 'DD' 1st June!
I watched a section on Baby hospital or one of those programmes and nearly died with fright. So I'm not watching scary birth programmes anymore!

homemama · 09/01/2006 08:13

Sorry to hijack ladies, but just wanted to let Lilac and Dana know that I finally got my BFP! Dana, thank you for posting on our TTC thread to wish me luck!

Hope everyone on here is having happy, healthy pregnancies.

Curlycapers · 09/01/2006 09:59

Hi ladies! Congrats to new mummies-to-be! Not posted for ages cos DD has been VERY demanding lately, have got halfway through writing a message a couple of times and given up!
I've been feeling baby move for quite a few weeks now and it's getting stronger by the day, real kicks and turns that surprise me sometimes - I don't remember them being this noticeable this early on in my other pregnancies!

Dana, so so sorry to hear about your mum, wishing you both love and luck for the future.

BABY2 · 09/01/2006 14:16

i everyone, just joined mums net,i am due 13th june (i think) i am going for my first scan next week so will find out for sure then, this will be my second, got a little boy who was 2 last week.

diddle · 09/01/2006 14:31

welcome all newbies, havent had chance to catch up yet so sorry if i've missed anything major.

Can you believe there is now a due in SEPTEMBER!!!! thread. makes me feel well established now. as does my huge bump. poor belly button is traumatised

Hows everyone doing? i'm on a health kick at the moment, not dieting obviously, but trying to make sure i eat everything from the right food groups, doing ok so far, struggling on the carbs. my book says to have 6 or 7 portions a day, but one portion is 2 slices of bread, so thats loadsa bread or spuds or rice for me. can't fit it all in. so i'm managing maybe 3 at the most.

hows everyone else doing??

homemama · 09/01/2006 15:28

Dana, just checked your last post. So sorry to hear about your mum.
Thank you again for thinking of me when you so clearly have so much to think about.

LilacBump · 09/01/2006 16:16

congratulations to all new comers and homemama (still sat here with a smile on my face after reading your post!)

i got a phonecall from the doctor this morning saying i have indeed STILL got an infection as the latest results had come back. i just can't believe it. so i am on my third course of anti-biotics. the pain is a lot less now though, so that's something good.

oh and this baby is now really kicking. it can be felt on the outside, so DD and DP are really excited.

Laura032004 · 09/01/2006 17:33

Lilac - sorry to hear about the positive result Hopefully these a/b's will be the ones that finally work.

Big welcome to Yummymummy24, BABY2 & icklmum

abbey1515 - stay away from the baby programmes they become compulsive after a while. I was off work from about 7m in my last pg, so I got to the point where I had seen most of them 3 or 4 times! By the time I had ds, I couldn't bear to watch them at all!!

diddle - that's a lot of carbs! Can you count bananas in that? I ate loads of them when pg with ds.

Bubbly - we went to Kynance on Sunday. It was quite a long walk for ds, so he was lovely and tired by the time we got back! Will def. be doing that again.

Not much happening here. Feeling the baby a fair bit now - it did a lovely big stretch on Saturday night, that shocked me a bit. So reminiscent (sp?) of ds when he was a bump. Can't wait for it to get bigger and start kicking properly. I'll be moaning then though! DS spent weeks with his foot between two of my ribs!

Am 19weeks on wed so have 2nd scan at end of next week so hopefully that will chill me out. I'm starting to get a proper bump at last which is nice hows everyone elses bumps? we've half decided names has anybody else?

Laura032004 · 09/01/2006 21:35

Wow! Second trimester! I'm 15+5 now (still counting those days! ) and I think I'm one of the last. Quite of all of you coming up to your second scans. I haven't even got a date for mine yet

Are you still losing weight Bugs? What was your weight like when you got pg (over/under/just right)? I don't think I'd put on much at this stage last pg between nausea and being careful what I ate, but I made up for it towards the end!

LilacBump · 10/01/2006 09:04

bugs, sorry to hear you've been on anti-biotics too. it does worry me a little to take them, but then they are supposed to make me better.

we're having a bit of a name crisis. we had a list of about 8 names for both boy and girl and yesterday DP said no to loads that he said were his favourites a few weeks ago. so now we have charlotte, sophie or mia for a girl and no boys names. i loved lucas for a boy, but DP says he doesn't like it. dana was also one of his favourites btw, put on the list because i mentioned our friend dana on here and we both liked it. but he's scrapped that too now. grrrr. hopefully we will have better luck choosing after our next scan (the 27th) and we find out what it is!

Dana · 10/01/2006 09:12

Thank you all so much for thinking about me over the last few days. It's nice to know I have your support.
My mum is having further tests done today, so hopefully we will know more by the end of this week.

Lilac, hope your infection will clear up with this course of antibiotics. How nice that your DP and DD can feel the baby kicking. I can still only feel it on the inside.

Diddle, that sounds like a lot of carbs. Is that what is normally recommended in pregnancy?

I went swimming at 6am this morning and feel great for it. I would like to go 2-3 mornings a week like I did in last pregnancy. Hope I can manage that as I find it hard to fit in exercise at other times of the day.

mrsbabookaloo · 10/01/2006 09:30

Hi all,

My bump is really growing: I'm using a safety pin in my work trousers, but I'm going to have to face up to going shopping soon... No movements yet, but i guess I don't know what to expect. Feeling a bit blue today becos dh and I fell out over names last night. I thought that names were one fun, non-stressful thing we could chat about and not argue over! Especially when we still have 5 months to go. He doesn't want a "boring" (classic) name and I don't want anything that I call "new-fangled". But really, you can't categorise these things, I think you just have to keep coming up with ideas til you find two or three that you both like. I wasn't really planning to get serious about it until we know the sex...9 days til my scan and counting!
By the way, my stats are: me: 31, DH almost 35, first baby, living in south London.

Dana · 10/01/2006 09:46

Lilac, Mia(h) was one of my favourites, but DH is dead against it. I also love Lea(h), but it is my sisters name so no can do.
I like Lucas but every other boy my son's age is called Lucas, so far too popular now (that is in Denmark though, don't know how popular it is in the UK)

Yummymummy, Charlie is also a great boys name. He could be cheeky Charlie

We have for a boy: Liam (DH's choice which I could live with) or Toby (my choice, not sure DH could live with it) and for a girl: Neve or Emilie (my current favourite).

mrsbabookaloo, don't think name choosing is ever fun

diddle · 10/01/2006 10:26

we've been thinking about names too. although ti turned into a word association game after a while. we'd say a name then think of something funny to go with it, no good when you want a nice baby name. Like Ruby (slippers) charlotte (church) we did finally decided on Ruby Mia, for a girl and Joshua for a boy. although they girls name has changed 4 times already. who knows. the boys name is a name i have always wanted and is non negotiable as far as i'm concerned, thank goodness.
