White will be nice and cool in this weather! Just got back in UK today, get d dog back in a few hours! Missed her.

It is more noticeable with my parents, as I only see them once a year. I talk to my Mum often and email but actually seeing them both makes me realize they are getting on. My Mum asked if she could come and live with me if my Dad died first, think she was only half joking. They are 70 next year so hopefully a good few years yet.

How is your house going?

Nifflerbowtruckle · 02/08/2018 07:22

House is going okay, we've had a few issues but seem to be slowly getting them sorted.

I managed to buy a car. I should be getting in next week sometime.

I don't think I could live with my parents again when they got older.

Has your car arrived yet? Exciting.

More hedgehog news! One has moved into the back garden whilst we were away. We first noticed it one night having a bbq, and ddog has become obsessed with it. Last night she woke me up barking, she had opened the bedroom curtains and had her front paws on the window sil watching it. I am keeping her away from it at the moment, she pushes it with her paws, poor hedgehog, kind of hoping it moves out.

Good to hear you are gradually settling into the house.

Nifflerbowtruckle · 09/08/2018 10:59

I should be getting the car this weekend Grin. I'm travelling for a christening in a couple of weeks and taking the opportunity to visit DH's friend who moved up that way too.

Poor hedgehog, it must feel somewhat safe to still be living there though.

House is doing okay we keep finding things wrong though. Turns out the letting agents are not good and I don't think the landlord is happy.

I went to a wedding at the weekend that had the same photographer as me. I was really looking forward to it but when I got there I had a bit of a meltdown. Left the area to compose myself and ran into the groom coming out the bathroom. Thankfully he was a star and just gave me a hug whilst I cried on his shoulder Blush. I was fine after the cry and plenty of alcohol though.

Just popped in to see how things are for you Niffler. Smile

Have you got the car yet?

Nifflerbowtruckle · 10/08/2018 21:57

Unfortunately not Sad. Probably not until next week now.

Horsemad · 11/08/2018 08:43

Fingers crossed you get it soon! 🚗

Nifflerbowtruckle · 13/08/2018 15:13

Every time we start to feel that we are getting somewhere with the house. Something else goes wrong Angry. I discovered another leak today. We found out from the decorator that the landlord isn't being told what's going on with the house and the letting agents are trying to make out everything is fine and not replacing things if they can get away with it.

OP posts:
Ilikesweetpeas · 13/08/2018 22:26

That's a pain about the leak! You could do without extra hassle, I presume you can't contact the landlord directly- I'm not sure how these things work. Glad to hear that the dog is ok, it's horrible when there's something wrong and that sounded stressful having to see her in that situation

Horsemad · 14/08/2018 18:15

What a pita, do you have the landlord's number?

Nifflerbowtruckle · 14/08/2018 19:10

Unfortunately the only way we could contact the landlord is via the painter who is a direct employee of his rather than the letting agents. Looking at the house it needs massive tlc. It hasn't been cared for and now it's showing. The house is over 100 years old and could be lovely if it had been looked after.

Ddog is doing well now and back to mischief Grin. Her and my friends dog are becoming firm friends.

That's great to hear the dogs are getting on so well , not so good about the house. I love old houses so much character.

Any news on the car?

Just looked at your photos cuteness overload both being black and white. Is that your friends cat as well. Amazing they all get on my dog HATES cats. We have an elderly man that lives around the back who walks his cat on a lead (bonkers, I know) and d dog always goes for her, very embarrassing.

Sorry to hear you got upset at the wedding, not surprising though and sounds like you had an amazing friend in the groom.

Nifflerbowtruckle · 15/08/2018 13:23

The car has finally left the import centre so I should get it this week.

Yes that's the cat that lives here too. My dog LOVES him, my friends dog is terrified. My dog loves everything though, I'm fairly confident she would love any animal as long as it gave her attention. Most dogs don't get one with cats outside their household my dog is just odd Grin. I can understand having a cat on a lead in the garden if it's a house Cat but not actually walking it around.

The groom is an old family friend. Our parents still live near each other although the 'kids' have drifted a little we have a lot of shared history that I don't think time can quite undo.

Great news about the car Niffler Smile hope you are driving around VERY soon.

Re. the house, I'd be inclined to ask the decorater for the landlord's number, if he' is able to pass it on and then tell him what the lettings agency are up to. He'll be paying a fee to them & if they're not doing their job properly, he ought to know!

Horsemad · 15/08/2018 21:05

Posted too soon, meant to say - cute dog & cat pics! Smile

Nifflerbowtruckle · 20/08/2018 11:31

I finally have a car!

Unfortunately I doubt the landlord would be willing for us to have his number. He has around 100 properties to rent in this city. He works in London so he isn't around much.

OP posts:
Amber0685 · 20/08/2018 16:16

Wow congratulations on your new car.

The cat gets walked around the block every evening on a lead, very odd, seems happy enough.

Wow that's a lot of properties your landlord has. How is the house going? D dog sounds so lovely getting on with everybody.

SingaSong12 · 23/08/2018 07:20

Good to see your updates and the pics.

Horsemad · 23/08/2018 07:39

How's the car going, are you zooming round everywhere? Grin

Amber0685 · 25/08/2018 19:11

How are things Niffler?

Nifflerbowtruckle · 28/08/2018 18:11

Car is going good. It's freeing having transport.

I'm doing okay. I went to a family event a couple of hours away this weekend and managed to see DH's best friend and his partner too so that was nice.

OP posts:
Amber0685 · 02/09/2018 15:32

That's good you are enjoying the car. I can't drive at the moment (need another hip op) and it is so annoying. I live quite rurally so not much public transport, have been relying on DH, friends a lot more than I like.

That would have been nice to see DHs best friend, I hope you keep in touch.

In hedgehog news my neighbour moved the hedgehog across into a field as her dogs were going mad, soon time for them to sleep.

Nifflerbowtruckle · 09/09/2018 19:56

Must be difficult relying on lifts and not being able to go out when the mood takes you.

It was lovely to see him and his partner. We will definitely keep in touch.

I wonder if the hedgehog will try to make its way back?

OP posts:
Amber0685 · 17/09/2018 09:39

No sightings of the hedgehog.

It drives me mad not being able to get around. The other thing is I used to be a very quick walker and now I am so slow everyone overtakes me, still at least I can walk, spent a few months not able to and it was awful. I got a letter this week as my GP referred me to get my other hip replaced so have my first consultant appointment soon.

How is the house? Hopefully nothing else has needs fixing.

Have the dogs been up to any mischief? Lovely for D dog to have company. I sometimes think about getting another D dog, but don't know mine would get along, that is why her last owner got rid of her as she fought with her brother.

Nifflerbowtruckle · 19/09/2018 19:58

House is doing okay. Ddog is doing good enjoying having a playmate.

I started a new job today. I've got another interview for another job next week. I'm hoping I get it as it's permanent and the hours mean the dogs wouldn't be home alone long.
