Bet you are 🙂 What car have you decided on?

Nifflerbowtruckle · 21/06/2018 19:56

A Dacia Sandero they have really good reviews and asking around they have good recommendations. They also don't massively depreciate in value.

Check you out this week, new house, new car!! When and where are you going on holiday? I am going to Bali for 2 weeks next month. Hope d dog is well.

Nifflerbowtruckle · 23/06/2018 13:45

The hopeful temporary fix on my car didn't work and yesterday it overheated and broke down and I got scrap man to collect it.

Ddog and I are going to Scotland with my parents and my cousin, her partner and their ddog.

Horsemad · 23/06/2018 17:51

Oh no! Sorry the temp repair failed 🙁 can you manage without a car until after your holiday, or are you getting it sooner now?

Nifflerbowtruckle · 23/06/2018 18:27

I'm hiring a van for a week to help with moving and then will only be without a car for a week before holiday so it's not too bad.

Amber0685 · 24/06/2018 15:23

A shame about the car, did you break down anywhere awkward? A week isn't too bad though.

Scotland sounds lovely, and d dog will have a friend. Have they met before?

Best of luck with the move, I bet you are looking forward to your own place (and not so much of MIL!) Will you drive the van you are hiring for the move?

Nifflerbowtruckle · 25/06/2018 13:09

I managed to get it down a side street before the steering wheel gave up.

They have met once before but it was around a year ago. He is a cocker spaniel so more high energy.

I signed today and picked up the van this morning. Bit nervous since it's so big but it's actually quite easy to drive.

Got the keys to the new house. They have done NOTHING to it barring clearing the mould and repainting in the master bedroom (left mould in the cupboards though). It's filthy too. I wrote a massive long list of things for them to add to their inventory that they 'missed' off.

OP posts:
Amber0685 · 26/06/2018 14:36

Gosh, have you got them to write all the faults on the property inspection report? I would take photos so you don't get blamed for anything you didn't do. Good on you writing a list for them, pisstakers.

Exciting but annoying for you having to clean before you can unpack.

Hope the dogs are having fun sniffing their new house and it isn't too hot for you all and you settle in well despite the mess.

Nifflerbowtruckle · 26/06/2018 14:50

I have an email from them confirming that they will amend the inventory so that's something. I'm looking to see how much a cleaning company would charge to clean the house so we can focus on moving in.

OP posts:
Amber0685 · 26/06/2018 15:03

That's reassuring. Send them the bill if you do get a cleaning company. I wonder if they could come at short notice, worth a try as you must be itching to unpack.

Nifflerbowtruckle · 27/06/2018 15:39

They are adamant that the house was cleaned and inspected before being signed off. We are doing a walkthrough tomorrow.

Does that look clean?!

No way. Hope you got it sorted and can start unpacking. What did they say at the walkthrough?

Nifflerbowtruckle · 28/06/2018 13:55

The guy said that they had had 2 cleans and they had done a lot of building work and the dust was still settling but wanted to get the relationship off on the right foot so to book the cleaners. They are coming Tuesday. We have moved stuff in but not ourselves yet but that will be tomorrow or Saturday. He did say the builders were supposed to seal and paint the mouldy cupboards too so they will be back.

Glad to here the cleaners and builders are coming back, well done for saying something. You must be moved or moving now! Enjoy your first night in your new home and I hope the dogs are settling in too. So hot for them at the moment.

Horsemad · 01/07/2018 20:16

Hope the move went well Niffler 🙂

SingaSong12 · 03/07/2018 16:52

Niffler. I hope they did some cleaning up and you are able to settle in.

Nifflerbowtruckle · 03/07/2018 17:23

Cleaners came today and the house is much improved although it has hi lighted the fact that that house needs a lot of tlc. First night in was Saturday. It's going okay just going to take a while to settle.

Amber0685 · 07/07/2018 10:06

I hope you are settling in well Niffler. It must be lovely having some space from MIL. How is d Dog in the heat? Mine is passed out most of the time, have been going out for a walk late in the evenings which is still light so really nice. I keep wetting her coat and she keeps shaking water everywhere, she is ok though some of the longer haired dogs are really struggling. When do you get your new car? Must be soon.

lutjanus · 08/07/2018 12:06

Lovely to hear you have managed to find a house for you and ddog Niffler. I hope it gives you the space to focus on looking after yourself rather than all your emotional energy being spent handling MIL. Must have been super-hot moving though last week.

And a new car, how exciting. At least you have a practical size pup. My ddog is large and tall so my car shopping involved finding the smallest car that would still let him stand up and turn around in the boot.

Amber0685 · 14/07/2018 11:20

How are you settling in Niffler? Have you got your new car yet? How are the dogs getting on?

Nifflerbowtruckle · 22/07/2018 12:28

I went away for a week with my parents so I am only just getting into the swing of things sorting out the house.

Ddog is doing good although she needed a sedation to get a grass seed out of her paw Sad. It was awful at the vets with the vet poking at her paw and she was screaming.

I'm looking at ordering my car next week. I think it will be a month or two before I get it though.

OP posts:
Amber0685 · 23/07/2018 05:28

Oh poor d dog, I hope she is all ok now.

Did you have a nice time on holiday with your parents? I am on holiday with mine at the moment, they live in Australia so we catch up once a year or so. It is a bit depressing seeing them get older each year, still nice to see them.

What colour car are you going to get?

Hope you are enjoying the new house.

Nifflerbowtruckle · 23/07/2018 08:25

She is okay, as soon as it was out she was back walking normally despite having a cut on her paw.

The holiday was nice, I would probably go again but without ddog as it makes it harder to be out and about. It must be more noticeable (them getting older) if you only see them occasionally.

I'm going for white, a colour will cost an extra £500 and I'm not that fussed.
