Hello everyone!

I am 5 months pregnant, and my wife and I are having a hard time agreeing. After weeks of "arguing", we decided to forget about all the previous names suggested before and make a new list.
I absolutely hate all the names she wrote down :

  • Bradleigh ( her favourite)
  • Dallas
  • Paris
  • Lisandry
  • Helen ( The only one I like)

Whereas my favourite names are:

  • Romy ( She likes it but not love it)
  • Dahlia
  • Neva

She is so sure, those are pretty names. Pleaaase help, she'll be reading all the comments!

I’m no help as none are to my taste.

Velvian · 12/12/2023 21:27

I think you have to ho with Romy or Helen. Luckily, those are the best 2 names by far.

Torganer · 12/12/2023 21:28

I think this happens to a lot of couples. You just need to keep looking and find something you both like rather than disparage each other’s choices.

Then I should say, which one is the least awful? Lol

The only reasonable name is Helen. I quite like it

Lisandry - is that a name or a typo

Your list is no better than hers. All absolutely dire.

Echobelly · 12/12/2023 21:28

Yes, hers are awful except for Helen.

BUT please don't tell her the names are awful, try to lead with why your ideas, or Helen, are better than the other ones. If you tell someone their ideas are awful, no matter how much you want to say it because you can't believe how bad those ideas are, they will understandably get defensive. Find ways to phrase your side positively.

Christmasisonitsway · 12/12/2023 21:29

Holy moly, they're all awful...sorry!

Raincloudsonasunnyday · 12/12/2023 21:29

Oh my word!

Romy is the least awful.

Choice4567 · 12/12/2023 21:29

romy is the least awful. But boy that’s some odd taste in names

Shodan · 12/12/2023 21:29

Sorry, I have to agree with PPs- they're all awful. Helen is the least awful, I think.

VeganNugsNotDrugs · 12/12/2023 21:29

Bradleigh is fine for a boy. Just not spelt like that.

TheCraicDealer · 12/12/2023 21:30

What about Helena? She likes Helen, you seem to like names with an A on the end…job done.

Demainsdeslaube · 12/12/2023 21:30

You're right, we just need to keep on looking. I should say, I dislike the names very very much.

Helen or Romy. The rest no way 🙅‍♀️ poor child!!

ExcitingRicotta · 12/12/2023 21:30

Romy and Dahlia are lovely.

All hers are awful. Bradley isn't even spelt like that?

Dont like Neva either, assume you are saying it Nee-vah but it looks like never.

etmoiandme · 12/12/2023 21:30

I don't like any of them, except Romy, which I love!

MolkosTeenageAngst · 12/12/2023 21:30

If neither of you like each others names (and I do t blame either of you neither list is great) then I think you both need to make much longer lists.

TeamLoganHuntzberger · 12/12/2023 21:31

They’re all awful and my two DC have ridiculous names. Helen fine but boring. Don’t mind Dallas if I had to choose from those lists.

Shodan · 12/12/2023 21:31

Romily would (almost) be a combination of your Romy and her Bradleigh 😁

GoldenTea · 12/12/2023 21:31

Helen is nice, but the rest of her list is crazy bad.

Mummymummy89 · 12/12/2023 21:31

Lisandry sounds like misandry to me.

Paris is nice for a boy but I dislike it for a girl. He was the handsomest man in Troy in the legend, I don't like the way it's now used for girls.

Helen and Dahlia are nice but you'll need more boy name options in case it's a boy

If you like Trojan heroes (Paris, Helen) how about Hector?

Xmascookies · 12/12/2023 21:31

They’re all awful and mainly sound like stripper names.

stepintochristmas1 · 12/12/2023 21:31

None , I don't like any of them .

herbygarden · 12/12/2023 21:33

Sorry to say but Helen is the only nice name on either list! Back to the drawing board, I reckon!

Dacadactyl · 12/12/2023 21:33

All of them are terrible, except Helen.
