Hello everyone!

I am 5 months pregnant, and my wife and I are having a hard time agreeing. After weeks of "arguing", we decided to forget about all the previous names suggested before and make a new list.
I absolutely hate all the names she wrote down :

  • Bradleigh ( her favourite)
  • Dallas
  • Paris
  • Lisandry
  • Helen ( The only one I like)

Whereas my favourite names are:

  • Romy ( She likes it but not love it)
  • Dahlia
  • Neva

She is so sure, those are pretty names. Pleaaase help, she'll be reading all the comments!

I really like Helen, and Romy is OK. Lisandry just doesn't sound like a name; I'd think of Misandry or just Laundry!

InShockHusbandLeaving · 12/12/2023 22:09

Romy isn’t too bad but I’m not keen on any of the others I’m afraid, even though my horse bears one of the names in your list 😆 I think you both need to have a rethink and see if you can come to a decision you’re both happy with. If pushed I’d also say that you can have the casting vote because you’ll be giving birth and your wife can choose baby’s middle name if you give her one.

BlazingJune · 12/12/2023 22:09

'fraid Romy just makes me think of Boris & Carrie's daughter and nothing' s worse than that.

noooooooo · Today 21:34
"I would say, and this may not please you, let she who runs the risk and destroys her pelvic floor, genitalia, and probably breasts, make the choice."

Why would you think that would not please the OP? She's the one who is pregnant!

Tbh It's the second person who comments about my wife being pregnant.

Maybe I should have wrote that we are a same sex couple. I thought the ' I am pregnant' and 'my wife' would do it.

But some names are boys and some are girls.

What sex is your baby? Or don't you know?

MeMyselfandCake · 12/12/2023 22:11

None of them are my cup of tea. I read Lisandry but all I hear is dysentery.

Forgottenmypasswordagain · 12/12/2023 22:11

From your lists I like Paris and Dahlia.

I am not a fan of Bradleigh, but do like Bradford or Bradley. Congratulations on your impending bambino! We had trouble agreeing on a name for our last child, until they were seven days old. It ended up being the perfect choice for them.

Bobsyouraunty · 12/12/2023 22:11

All are terrible
maybe you might like Isla, Elsa, Reece, Dylan, (all for girls) ?

BlazingJune · 12/12/2023 22:12

Bradley is a boy's name.

Paris and Dahlia are girls.

She isn't born yet, so we have time to think. But thanks!

Absolutely shocked at the number of people saying Romy is an awful name, it's beautiful!

FreshWinterMorning · 12/12/2023 22:12

Has to be Helena, not Helen. I just think 'to helen back' like off a Young Ones episode some years ago.

The rest are crap sorry. Bradleigh??? Confused What? The? F???

Lisandry? Confused Sounds like 'misandry...'

Mammyloveswine · 12/12/2023 22:12

Sorry all hideous

BlazingJune · 12/12/2023 22:13

Romy.

Is the Roamy or Rommy?

Roamy sounds as if they are a Romany. (might get teased.)

wishingiwas20something · 12/12/2023 22:13

Dahlia is so pretty! What about Violet? Bluebell or Poppy - continuing with floral theme! I love Bluebell as could be shorten to Blue, which is an awesome girls name.

ThePoshUns · 12/12/2023 22:13

All of them are awful sorry!

Demainsdeslaube · 12/12/2023 22:13

It's a baby girl. Hence the eigh in Bradley. I personally do not like boys' name for girls.

If my wife had her way, she'd name our baby Carter or Parker.

Was Bradleigh for a girl???
I like Romy

How about Daphne instead of Dahlia?

CuttingAllTheFlowersStill · 12/12/2023 22:14

Sorry only like Helen or Emma

And Tragedeigh made me smile

BlazingJune · 12/12/2023 22:14

Blue as a girl's name.

Great. Especially if the surname is Brown, or White or Black.

How ridiculous.

Mariposista · 12/12/2023 22:14

All ridiculous except Helen

I once knew a Lisandro (male). Portuguese origin I think.

honeysuckleweeks · 12/12/2023 22:14

Cross post.

Romy.

What's wrong with being a Romani? What if I told you my wife and I were both Romani?

Pfffff

All dreadful but HELEN?! For a baby in 2024? Yours are much better suggestions, love Romy!

caramelsauce · 12/12/2023 22:15

Don’t panic and keep looking there’s got to be a name out there that you both end up loving. When I named mine it took looking for a very long time through thousands of names before we could agree! Also my friend had the same trouble agreeing with her partner and didn’t name the baby until 5 days after birth and she said they both agreed one of the names on their previous list just felt right when seeing the baby.
