Middle name for Plato

BottleRocket · 18/02/2014 20:04

We've decided on the name Plato for our baby son, due in two weeks. It's sort of like Arlo or Milo but less common. The only thing is we can't think of a good middle name.

Thanks in advance!

Assuming you are serious, I would go for something normal but not too prosaic and long-ish. I think Plato Alexander would flow well. And keep up the Greek theme.

Though personally I think middle names are best if they have some significance/ family connection, as they rarely get used.

Sweetishdelight · 18/02/2014 20:28

Plato? Are you serious?

Op, you can't call your son Plato. Everyone will nod and smile and then laugh at you behind your back. Sorry to be harsh but it's true.

AHardDaysWrite · 18/02/2014 20:31

And it is nothing like Arlo or Milo!

Ok was trying to be polite with my first post but agree with other posters about the dissimilarity to Arlo and Milo. If you want something ending in o what about Otto?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/02/2014 20:53

Plato is a very strong name with Classical Greek heritage. Is there a reason it is special to you?

As far as I remember, Plato is thought to mean "broad" either of eloquence (or forehead!), and the original Plato's name was Aristocles.

I love unusual and special names but I think this is one where most people would expect you to have a Classical Greek connection.

You're right Princess - just trying to think of a good middle name. So it's useful to know if the OP loves Classical names or is looking for something more modern.
