Middle name for Plato

BottleRocket · 18/02/2014 20:04

We've decided on the name Plato for our baby son, due in two weeks. It's sort of like Arlo or Milo but less common. The only thing is we can't think of a good middle name.

Thanks in advance!

Am hiding this thread. OP has run away by the looks of it and the thread has gone daft!

BlueFrenchHorn · 21/02/2014 12:04

Yeah its all a bit mean and bullyish.

MoominIsWaitingToMeetHerMiniMe · 21/02/2014 13:02

Loving Plato Pillar Grin

PsychicPaper · 21/02/2014 18:14

wow, so harsh to the OP

her baby, her choice

LilQueenie · 21/02/2014 18:19

Very harsh. A few years ago I asked about a name and pretty much got torn down for it. So much bullying. I kept my name choice and guess what no one has batted an eyelid since DD was born and no kids have had a go either. Just adults pre-birth. Grow the fuck up.

SirChenjin · 21/02/2014 19:40

Oh go and put your high horse back in its stable - Plato is a crap name

Davidhasselhoffstoecheese · 21/02/2014 19:46

Joking aside, I think it would be a great name in a Mediterranean child.

And you could alter the middle name according to which part of the Med they were from eg

Plato Calamari
Plato Antipasti
Plato Spaghetti
Plato Tzatziki

Grin
LizzieVereker · 21/02/2014 20:06

I remember when the names Max and Noah were considered "arty farty" here in Sarf London - now they're ten a penny. Plato may become the "boringly common" name of 2024. Or not.

RussianBlu · 21/02/2014 20:45

some people have no sense of humour.

mathanxiety · 21/02/2014 23:49

I think Cato would be a lot better.

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/02/2014 23:52

Plato pasta

OP, I'm sorry for my post (mine was the one basically saying that unless you're an artist, forget it.)

The fact that you've never once posted in response to any of our comments probably mean that we've really upset/pissed you off.

I hope you're OK, it's years since I've been pregnant, but I'm sure 172 posts slagging off my chosen name for one of my DC would have really upset me.

I suppose the only positive about this thread is that you now have some inkling as to what people in RL might think and say behind your back, and some foresight into potential silly nicknames he might come across as he progresses through school.

That's not to say that you shouldn't stick with the name, and ignore all us mnetters!

I'm really sorry for any upset. Hope your last couple of weeks of pregnancy go smoothly. Good luck for the birth. Thanks xx

Plato Horatio Hornblower

AberdeenAngusina · 22/02/2014 13:34

We had a cat named Plato, because even as a kitten he had a philosophical look. It's included as a cat's name in T.S.Elliot's "The Naming of Cats"

We got Confused looks when people heard it as a cat's name. A child would be worse.
