Middle name for Plato

BottleRocket · 18/02/2014 20:04

We've decided on the name Plato for our baby son, due in two weeks. It's sort of like Arlo or Milo but less common. The only thing is we can't think of a good middle name.

Thanks in advance!

Make sure the middle name is very prosaic and usual. Or just go for two surnames.

MissBeehiving · 18/02/2014 20:59

Ooh, I think something classical - what about Socrates? Alternatively, Colin.

Solasum · 18/02/2014 20:59

I agree with Pps that it needs to be something very ordinary.

Jack.

There is no good middle name for Plato.
You do know what Plato means I take it?

OverAndAbove · 18/02/2014 21:01

Alexander is a good idea. As above, keeps the Greek theme, but allows use of a more mainstream name if Plato wishes

Bunbaker · 18/02/2014 21:02

I think a child with that name is going to get seriously teased at school, so I would go for something a lot little less "out there" so that your son can use his middle name if he wants.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 18/02/2014 21:02

Plato means broad.

It was a nickname.

Don't do it.

Lweji · 18/02/2014 21:05

I'm sure he'll end up with initials. So, P. John, probably no.
P. David, will turn PDiddy probably.
P. Edward hmm.
P. Robert sounds like good PR. Wink

Why not Plato as middle name instead.

Tyler Plato.

Badvoc · 18/02/2014 21:06

Broad shouldered be precise.
It's awful.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 18/02/2014 21:07

What does Plato mean?

NoArmaniNoPunani · 18/02/2014 21:10

Cross posted (I'm A very slow poster)

Broad is not a bad meaning, some well used names mean lame or blind.

If you want to go with Plato, pick something normalish for a middle name, I like the suggestion of Alexander, however try not to be offended when they start secondary school if they insisit on being P. Alex [surname] - I know several people who are known by their middle name and they all have "interesting" first names.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 18/02/2014 21:26

Aww, if you like it I'm sorry people have been a bit mean Bottle
Congratulations on the imminent birth of your son Thanks
I think the meaning is nice especially if he's likely to be broad shouldered, but have to agree it is rather unusual, and could be a good middle name itself to follow one of the classic boys names.

Selks · 18/02/2014 21:47

Plato Kevin, of course.

Plato, though? PLATO??
