lol, it does seem rather pointless

lovechoc · 24/05/2010 15:49

I agree with you - YANBU!

I know a young mum who thinks she's being really trendy (or tries to make her daughter trendy at 3 months old) but I spoke to her partner and he said to me 'I wish she'd stopped putting that daft hairband on our daughter's head'. She doesn't even have any hair yet!!

I'm going to have two boys by August so won't have that kind of dilemma to worry over...will have other worries later on!

ticktockclock · 24/05/2010 15:51

Nope I don't like them either, think they look awful.

Hats have a point (to keep sun off)
Hairbands on babies with no hair????

surfinia · 24/05/2010 15:52

can't stand them either.

surfinia · 24/05/2010 15:53

Also not so sure about the teensy pony tail on top of head when it just sticks up and about an inch long.

SeaTrek · 24/05/2010 15:53

YANBU

I think they look horrible, too.

Very popular in America!

biddysmama · 24/05/2010 15:57

dd doesnt have any hair so doesnt have a hairband... she does wear a bandana tho.. i dont like those tiny hair clips, seem to be too wasy to get hold of and swallow to me

nomorebooze · 24/05/2010 15:58

glad its not just me, i think i have serious issues surrounding this as i get really angry when i see it!!!!!!!!!! lol, xx

I think they're pretty and are a good way to let everyone know that your DC is a girl

I think some mothers feel it marks them out as a 'girl'. Can't see the point myself.

TheFatOwlOfTheRemove · 24/05/2010 16:02

Ma Duggar puts them on hers

here

TheFatOwlOfTheRemove · 24/05/2010 16:03

this one comes with built-in pigtails

biddysmama · 24/05/2010 16:05

could they not be a strangulation hazard if they slip down ? i dont like anything like that (bibs etc) that dont clip open or hold together with velcro

TheFatOwlOfTheRemove · 24/05/2010 16:06

sweet baby though

Hassled · 24/05/2010 16:06

Ah but they look so cuuuute. I quite like them. Plus, it avoids all the do I say "he" or "she" malarkey.

nomorebooze · 24/05/2010 16:09

I don't like them. Why is is so important for a girl not to be mistaken for a boy? to me it's a reflection of the "pinkification" of girls - accessories on a newborn.

Jamieandhismagictorch · 24/05/2010 16:24

Trying to think of the equivalent for a boy .......
