...to think that a man who "doesn't drive" is not remotely sexy

I saw this on another thread (doesn't matter which) and didn't want to hijack it with my silly ramblings

but, I can't imagine being with a man who "doesn't drive" (disabilities notwithstanding)

just someone too lazy to learn, who would let their OH chauffeur them around

there is something very appealing (sexy) about a man who drives well

mind you, I have a thing about a well-shaped wrist on a man , and driving in short sleeves shows that off to perfection

am I showing my age here ?

Have to say I agree, but I am probably being a sexist old fart too

SmallShips · 30/01/2010 19:31

I agree.

I agree.

Tried a dating web site a million years ago. Met up with a bloke who didn't drive. Turned me right off. (There were other things as well though.)

VigourMortis · 30/01/2010 19:34

I remember when I was fifteen and first met boys who had cars. Didn't half give me the horn

NomDePlume · 30/01/2010 19:35

No, I know what you mean. I know it's sexist of me and pathetic of me but I just couldn't fancy a bloke who doesn't drive.

I'm normally a pretty live and let live person but this is one I just can't change my stance on.

Short sleeves not so much but longer sleeves slightly scrunched back to reveal a tantalising glimpse of tanned, toned, forearm with a nice chunky manly watch on the wrist. Woof

heQet · 30/01/2010 19:35

I don't think it matters. If they live somewhere where there's no need to drive - cities for example - and they can get around fine it doesn't matter.

Driving a car is just a means to get from A to B.

Drinkerbell · 30/01/2010 19:35

My DH only learned recently, had to get a taxi to hospital with DCs when in labour!

BUT he did learn and is now a very good driver. Although there wasn't much that was sexy watching him fold his 6'2'' frame into a FIAT Punto for his lessons!!

I agree!

MadOldCrone · 30/01/2010 19:35

AF are you Jeremy Clarkson.

Dominique07 · 30/01/2010 19:36

thats a bit... shallow!

janeite · 30/01/2010 19:36

YABU. Dp doesn't drive (and neither do I) - we prefer doing our bit for the environment than thinking we need a hunk of metal to pretend to be sexy.

Maize · 30/01/2010 19:36

Love a man that can drive.

Love sexy manly forarms. One of the reasons I started to fancy my (now)DH, yummy.

Nancy66 · 30/01/2010 19:37

I agree - i know it's completely unreasonable but I find it a massive turn off.

Men should be able to drive - it's wussy if they can't.

IncontinentiaBotox · 30/01/2010 19:37

fucking hell

is there anything that doesn't get sneered at?

my dh can't drive because he has narcolepsy

you daft cow

Disenchanted3 · 30/01/2010 19:37

My DH doesn't frive, neither do I.

We have no reason to and because of all the walking and bike riding he is super fit

so YABVU

Paolosgirl · 30/01/2010 19:38

No - a man who doesn't drive, but who cycles or takes public transport is far sexier. Fitter and more environmentally conscious - does it for me every time.

Nothing more of a turn off than a petrol head - a car is for getting from A to B as an earlier poster said.

ronx · 30/01/2010 19:39

I like anyone who can drive. It means I don't have to ferry them around .

MadOldCrone · 30/01/2010 19:39

lol at all the folk saying YABU also the wives/partners of the undrivers.

WhatNoLunchBreak · 30/01/2010 19:39

Oh, I'm so torn! My DH doesn't drive, so, of course, YABU.

But a well-shaped wrist shown to perfection at the steering wheel ... YADNBU. Phwooooarrrr!

Goblinchild · 30/01/2010 19:39

Mine doesn't drive.
More time to tinker with me.

MadOldCrone · 30/01/2010 19:39

Personnally I prefer a man with a sedan chair.

heQet · 30/01/2010 19:39

incontinentia - much as I disagree with the idea that a man needs to drive to be attractive, the op did say very clearly "(disabilities notwithstanding)" in her initial post.

No need to jump down her throat when the very reason you are doing so is something she covered in her post.

Bobbiewickham · 30/01/2010 19:40

Disabilities notwithstanding - my poor ds2 will never drive as he has an eye condition.

I wouldn't say I could never fancy a man who doesn't drive...
however...forearms, wrists, reversing, getting a bit impatient with the gear stick...

heQet · 30/01/2010 19:40

madoldcrone - my husband drives.
