...to think that a man who "doesn't drive" is not remotely sexy

I saw this on another thread (doesn't matter which) and didn't want to hijack it with my silly ramblings

but, I can't imagine being with a man who "doesn't drive" (disabilities notwithstanding)

just someone too lazy to learn, who would let their OH chauffeur them around

there is something very appealing (sexy) about a man who drives well

mind you, I have a thing about a well-shaped wrist on a man , and driving in short sleeves shows that off to perfection

am I showing my age here ?

oh, I'm so shallow you can see right through me !

Robert Downey Jr, and what a beautiful wrist that is! Just the right tan, amount of hair, oh oh.

Actually, A man is not a real man, if he does not have the means to show off his wrists regularly! (by car, by gazing at a splendid time piece, etc. etc. )

GetOrfMoiLand · 01/02/2010 16:38

When met DP it was his forearms which attracted me.

He was sat there with his sleeves lightly rolled up, showing tanned forearms.

Lovely.

2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 01/02/2010 16:40

oh migod!

When I met dh, it was his forearms..... Tanned, muscular, white shirt rolled up - pulling pints behind the bar, to get by while he was studying....

AnyFucker · 01/02/2010 16:42

hang on...just gotta go and see to something....

back in 10

OP posts:
GetOrfMoiLand · 01/02/2010 16:44

Actually no that is not strictly true, with DP it was (1) his face (2) his arse and then his forearms.

AnyFucker · 01/02/2010 16:47

mine was his...

  1. forearms and wrists

  2. tight white t-shirt and Levi's (this was the 1980's remember...)

  3. tool pouch

Lol anyfucker.

When DP came and picked me up from work in his work clothes (he is a builder) I was all of a flutter. It was all t shirts, dust and rigger boots. Yum.

AnyFucker · 01/02/2010 17:05

a builder you say, Getters

snap

my eyes still pop out when I see a tool pouch and a ripped t-shirt

OP posts:
AnyFucker · 01/02/2010 17:06

and don't get me started on work vans

oops, back to driving

Yes I love DP when he is all buildery.

Can't imagine fancying anone who wore a shirt and tie every day (I work with enough of them).

Give me a dusty builder with power tools (ooh er missus) any day.

YANBU - I at least think men should learn to drive. If they then choose to not have a car that seems less daft. I can't put my finger on why non driving men bug me, but they do. BUT, also I hate it when women don't drive and get ferried about everywhere like numpties. I am not on about disabilities/costs too much to learn etc. but the ones who just don't bother. There is something just so annoying about women who have their sons take them shopping (late 40's, not dotty old biddies) on a Friday afternoon. I only learnt to drive (for mainly medical reasons) about 2 months ago at age 23 and for those 6 years I felt such a sap.

AnyFucker · 01/02/2010 18:01

Riven, it's all relative really

When I was learning to drive (more than 25 yrs ago... ) they were horrifically expensive then...

Hmm but I a very rarely 'ferried' any where secret, Public transport, walking cycling do me just fine.

Most people know not to offer me a lift and I will ask for one if alternatives don't quite work. (early hospital appointments etc). I cycled to and from most of me ante natal classes.

But being of the 'deep as a puddle' class can still value the concept that a man needs to be a master in the car, an archangel in the kitchen and anything I want him to be anywhere else..........

EdgarAllenSnow · 01/02/2010 19:11

i think there is something sexy about a bloke who has attained that confidence in himself (which can be demonstrated by driving, but thats just one way) and enjoys your evident appreciation of it.

Dh fits a bloody good kitchen, and does so with a smile. he used to drive his mini with the same cheeky grin...

i think watching Brad Pitt in Troy put me in mind of this - the role of a man at the very top of his game, played by a man at the height of his profession...and wow what a booty...
'thida maguia' as Homer said...

AnyFucker · 01/02/2010 20:08

oohh Edgar, bloody hell yes, Pitt in Troy

absolute perfection in a man

is also up there with Crowe in Gladiator (although strangely, not in anything else )

OP posts:
2010aQuintessentialOdyssey · 01/02/2010 21:53

Pitt in Meet Joe Black, now THAT was perfection.

lollopops · 01/02/2010 22:31

I rather wish my partner didn't drive.

He borrowed my car and has knackered the tracking/bearing on it. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr

EdgarAllenSnow · 02/02/2010 12:24

i was curled up watching Troy with DH and thinking most unmarital thoughts.

in meet Joe Black..hmm..maybe i need to see that one again?

crowe in gladiator....he just isn't quite Fitticus Maximus for me.
