AIBU Books Game Part Six

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 19:16

Now, we're on thread number six!

As before, we frame an AIBU from the point of view of a character in a book and everyone tries to guess the book and/or the character.

Everyone welcome to play/time-waste as much or as little as they please.

New thread, new AIBU...

AIBU to think I'm seeing a ghost?

OP posts:
pollywollydoodle · 26/01/2010 20:47

hello all, last thread was taking ages to load so wasn't on much!
well done moomin...i like to think you do those lists from memory!

elephant are you little piggy brothers?

treacle...is she impoverished?

moomin...is it going whooooooah? if so, then not uneasonable at all!

cj, no idea!

Poledra · 26/01/2010 21:29

Nah, I'm sure Moomin has a spreadsheet (and she marks which of us reads high-brow fiction and which reads trashy fantasy ).

Just marking the thread really, ni deas and sadly my bathroom needs cleaned so off to my sorry RL!

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 21:50

Sadly, Pol, I wouldn't have any idea how to do a spreadsheet and would have to enlist DD's help if one was needed.

And, much as I hate to shatter your illusions, Polly, it isn't from memory. I write tatty little lists every so often and usually end up demanding which member of my family has pinched the notebook with the books list.

...He isn't making strange noises but I saw him walk through a wall...

MCP all!

OP posts:
Poledra · 26/01/2010 22:15

Well, walking through walls - were they stone? And is he an Ulgo?

BTW, does anyone know a company who will come round and clean all the mould and limescale off your shower cabinet??

CJCregg · 26/01/2010 22:27

Hi all! No a single, solitary idea, I'm afraid.

Got the butter - baked potatoes for all. Now we can go back to our imaginary world ...

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 26/01/2010 22:36

Do you perhaps have more than one ghost? A polite but shy researcher in the library and a soldier who used to come through a cupboard that's now been made into a bathroom (or possibly an airing cupboard) that's made his vibrations all foggy?

If so, I reckon you are from the nobility - but I suspect that this is way too obvious, and you are tooooo clever for me!

StayingDavidTennantsGirl · 26/01/2010 22:37

Oh - and by the way, the last time I posted on one of these, I was StayingSunnygirl - just so as you don't think some total stranger is wandering in and getting all familiar.

MoominMymbleandMy · 26/01/2010 23:39

Sunny! Lovely to see you again!

Pol, I have no idea what an Ulgo is but there's a horrible chemical cleaner called Viakal that's brilliant for getting through built-up limescale.

CJ, you minx, I think you're all in the Old Shippen planning to Gondal!

...I have my bath in my bedroom. And there's only one ghost and he's a boy. He doesn't look frightening but no one else can see him but me...

OP posts:
CJCregg · 27/01/2010 00:36

Well done, Moomin, couldn't resist - what on earth took you so long?!

No idea what anyone else is talking about.

MoominMymbleandMy · 27/01/2010 01:22

Doubleminx, CJ, that hurt my poor brain!

Polly, you clever thing, I reckon you're bang on the nose with Elephants' one.

...He wears pyjamas and one slipper...

Night all!

OP posts:
steamedtreaclesponge · 27/01/2010 08:15

Moomin, does he spend a lot of time hanging out in the garden with you?

...She's not exactly impoverished but certainly not well-off. But she thinks she's better than him...

CJCregg · 27/01/2010 09:39

Treacle, you've done it again. I knew I knew Moomin's, but just couldn't quite reach it ... assuming it's something to do with the clock striking thirteen?

Sorry about your poor head, Moomin.

AIBU to insist that we walk?

pollywollydoodle · 27/01/2010 09:50

noooo! moomin don't destroy my fantasies!

treacle...is she a governess?

moomin...caspar? [desperate]

are there any other aibu's open apart from elephants {brain hurts at trying to work it out)

cj...spent several minutes of my life flicking thru jaspar fforde books convinced your buttered potatoes would be there ...i even accused poor old humpty dumpty(quite enjoyable really)

steamedtreaclesponge · 27/01/2010 10:12

CJ, I suppose that depends on how far you're going! Is it a long way?

...No, not a governess, she is a lady, I suppose. But I don't see why she should look down on my son just because he made his own money...

MoominMymbleandMy · 27/01/2010 12:13

Well done on Tom's Midnight Garden, Treacle!

Is your son very 'umble?

CJ, I agree it depends on the distance and circumstances. MCP!

AIBU to think it wasn't meant to be this cold?

OP posts:
ElephantsAndMiasmas · 27/01/2010 12:19

Ooh helloooooooo! What a lovely shiny new thread, and well done on the list Moomin it is stupendous.

Polly - hooray! Indeed I am the stay at home piggy, outraged at all the roast-beef-eating, market-going, wee-wee-wee-shrieking activities of my companions. Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells your slippers.

Was that allowed? It is a nursery rhyme but sure to be in a book somewhere

NIMCP on others.

AIBU to steal toys from school?

steamedtreaclesponge · 27/01/2010 13:55

Oh, I think nursery rhymes are definitely allowed, Elephants!

You're not in a wardrobe are you Moomin? I do love Tom's Midnight Garden - plus one of the characters has my name which I always find quite exciting

...He has his proper pride - although he's not as proud as her, haughty young thing! Although I saw her walking with a young man the other night, so I'm not sure her morals are what they should be, especially with her father losing his faith like that...

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 27/01/2010 14:09

Well Treacle I think YAB a bit U, and I think you'll find she makes a lovely bride to your fit son. She's probably just finding it a bit grim oop where you live.

ElephantsAndMiasmas · 27/01/2010 14:12

Sorry, meant fit, just got a bit carried away

steamedtreaclesponge · 27/01/2010 15:20

Well done, Elephants!

Nothing quite like a hunky northern mill owner, is there?

MoominMymbleandMy · 27/01/2010 15:28

Bah, Elephants has beaten me to it! I don't think down South was any nicer - I didn't like the bit about the cat at all.

You will always be Treacle to us, Treacle, even if you really are Hatty, Gwen, Susan or the name of the nasty aunt (which escapes me for the moment).

...I'm not in a wardrobe. It's just I always thought of the Promised Land as being warm...

MCP all!

OP posts:
ElephantsAndMiasmas · 27/01/2010 17:28

Yay treacle, I'm so glad, I was beginning to feel completely illiterate amongst you clever lot. swoony ending of N&S

I hope you haven't been the victim of a trick Moomin, from your wife perhaps?

...I know it probably is BU but the plastic animals are just so lovely, and I don't have any of my own.

pollywollydoodle · 27/01/2010 20:43

moomin, did you find your way using a special compass?

pollywollydoodle · 27/01/2010 20:44

btw...yay!...celebratory sausages for tea for me, i think

steamedtreaclesponge · 28/01/2010 10:57

Hmm, Elephants, I think YABU! Can't think who you are though...

MCP Moomin!

Are there any other AIBUs running at the moment or is it just you two?

AIBU to invite him for tea?
