Anyone else would mop, right?

You pour yourself a coffee, and as you turn away from the counter, a tablespoons worth falls to the kitchen tile.

You would mop that up right? Not leave it, or "wipe it up with your sock".
Right?!

Am I being unreasonable to think anyone else who spilt coffee would get out a mop and clean it properly?

Good grief a mop would be overkill. Kitchen roll and a spray with some cleaner

Hurumph · Yesterday 21:40

Sock

AhBiscuits · Yesterday 21:45

If it was in my own home I wouldn't mop it. At work like fuck would I mop it. A quick wipe with some kitchen roll.

So effectively paper towel on a stick?

Yes. People getting so worked up at the thought of having to get a “mop” out. These mops do not require you to fill a bucket and get the zoflora out. It’s literally no more effort than using a cloth.

The point is that it’s both lazy and disgusting to whip your clog off and use a sock rather than using a proper cleaning implement to wipe (or “mop”) it up 🤷‍♀️

Nope, use the dishcloth (washable microfibre cloths) then put it in the washing machine and get a fresh one from the basket.

Advocodo · Yesterday 21:49

Kitchen roll for me.

Shrewsburywithanoo · Yesterday 21:50

When people say sock do they mean one that they're currently wearing?
That's so weird but lots are saying it so must be a "thing"

SmallandSpanish · Yesterday 21:50

Are you for real?

Selfseedpoppies · Yesterday 21:54

Definitely neither option. If a liquid spilt I would obviously use a kitchen cloth to clean it up!

Pearlyb · Yesterday 22:02

If it was milky coffee, I'd use a damp cloth. If it was black coffee, sock (or probably dry kitchen roll, don't like having damp socks!)

HoneyPie12 · Yesterday 22:18

Sometimes depending what it is I gently point my dog in the direction of the kitchen. And what's done is done 😄 🤣

Sometimes I get oven trays out by folding my sleeve over my hand. Of course I would wipe a bit of coffee off the floor with my sock 😄 🤣

Vaxtable · Yesterday 22:19

I would use a piece of kitchen towel

TubeScreamer · Yesterday 22:23

Kitchen towel and a bit of spray

definitely not getting a mop out unless I was about to mop anyway (very low chance)

Butchyrestingface · Yesterday 22:28

What's a mop?

sweetpickle2 · Yesterday 22:37

So even you didn’t use a mop!

I’d chuck the tea towel
down and then bung it in the washing machine

This every time.

I absolutely would not get a mop out to clean a to tiny bit of coffee. I would use kitchen roll or a cloth.

Me too.

WWomble · Yesterday 22:48

Read the first page with slight surprise - no need even for a sock if you have . . . a Labrador! Maybe a flash power mop if the dog is in the garden!

JJWT · Yesterday 22:53

No way. Kitchen roll or dishcloth. Quick spray of lavender Method. Unless the dog licked it up first!

I wouldn’t get a mop out for a mug of coffee, let alone a tablespoon! I’d grab some kitchen roll and spend five seconds wiping it up.

InveterateWineDrinker · Yesterday 23:09

I'd wipe it up with a cloth, but none of the animals living in my house would even notice.

mumumental · Yesterday 23:11

A sock! Nasty.

"It’s literally no more effort than using a cloth"

It is literally more effort to use a mop than to tear off a piece of kitchen roll, wipe spill and bin. In what world are they of equal effort?!

Bried · Yesterday 23:20

No chance I'd use my sock. I cannot STAND the slightest bit of damp on my nice cosy socks Grin

I'd use a kitchen towel, then probably a wet wipe. Maybe the other way round. We don't own a mop.
