Anyone else would mop, right?

You pour yourself a coffee, and as you turn away from the counter, a tablespoons worth falls to the kitchen tile.

You would mop that up right? Not leave it, or "wipe it up with your sock".
Right?!

Am I being unreasonable to think anyone else who spilt coffee would get out a mop and clean it properly?

OP posts:

Nah I’d use the sock method.

keepingitclean · Yesterday 17:37

I absolutely would not get a mop out to clean a to tiny bit of coffee. I would use kitchen roll or a cloth.

TheoreticallyAdult · Yesterday 17:38

Not a chance I’d take the mop out for that. A wet and a dry sheet of kitchen towel would do the job.

Whaleandsnail6 · Yesterday 17:38

No..sorry, I'm doing either a kitchen towel or sock wipe.

QueenOfAccountability · Yesterday 17:38

I'm not gonna lie, I'd wipe it up with my sock😅

TheFishFish · Yesterday 17:38

A tablespoons of coffee? I'd probably just grab a cloth or indeed just go over it with my sock. Not faffing around getting a mop out for that.

mtobrokeme · Yesterday 17:38

Yeah Mr Sock would be making an appearance in my house too!

TheLurpackYears · Yesterday 17:39

I’d chuck the tea towel
down and then bung it in the washing machine

Just2please · Yesterday 17:39

Start a thread about your unhappy marriage and this being one of many many issues

Fifthtimelucky · Yesterday 17:39

Sorry, OP. I wouldn’t get a mop out either!

wafflesmgee · Yesterday 17:40

I’d wipe with a tea towel if I have one nearly ready for the wash anyway, or get a dirty sock from our laundry pile and wipe with that. No way I’d waste a clean ish sock on it but neither would I mop

metowel · Yesterday 17:41

Nah. This happened to me yesterday with a spoonful of pasta sauce. Absolutely didn’t occur to me to get the mop out!

Lexibletheflexible · Yesterday 17:41

It isn't that you're unreasonable to think it should be cleaned up but I've lived enough life to know that a lot of people would not bother.

Whoops75 · Yesterday 17:41

cloth or sock

tulippa · Yesterday 17:42

Kitchen towel to soak up the coffee and a wipe to clean the residue. Can't stand having wet socks so wouldn't be using those.

Xatz63 · Yesterday 17:42

I would probably sweep it up and that's it until floor needs cleaning.

Lifesyoungdream · Yesterday 17:42

Kitchen towel or dish cloth then put it in the wash.

50Balesofgrey · Yesterday 17:43

I'd not thought of the sock method but it's likely to be my go to now. Cheers OP.

Yewlez · Yesterday 17:43

I would use the dishcloth then put it in the laundry. I wouldn't mop for that

Xatz63 · Yesterday 17:44

Lol just realised coffee liquid .kitchen roll does the trick

Lucyintheskywithnoidea · Yesterday 17:44

I love mopping but for that much would most probably use a cloth to save water. I mop once a week unless the dog wees or it’s particularly bad. Not for a small spillage that’s easily cleaned with a cloth.

I did wonder 😂

Tarkan · Yesterday 17:45

I have a whole basket of microfibre cloths under the sink for just this sort of thing. I’m clumsy, it happens a lot.

PaulaPickford · Yesterday 17:45

Possibly a bit of tissue.. Probably a wipe of sock.. Blush

BigBadPotato · Yesterday 17:46

um, neither, because both options are weird 😂 not a fucking chance I’m getting the mop out for a wee splash of coffee but equally I’m not wiping it up with my sock(?!) and getting a soggy foot. Kitchen roll or a cloth, surely?
