Anyone else would mop, right?

You pour yourself a coffee, and as you turn away from the counter, a tablespoons worth falls to the kitchen tile.

You would mop that up right? Not leave it, or "wipe it up with your sock".
Right?!

Am I being unreasonable to think anyone else who spilt coffee would get out a mop and clean it properly?

Nah I’d use the sock method.

Same, unless there was kitchen roll at arm's length.

To clarify, it's not my DH, it's actually at work
I was upset that the coffee stickiness would be tracked out onto the store floor

You must get upset very easily
What a silly thing to get pressed about in work

IStillHearTheWaves · Yesterday 20:30

Kitchen paper or tea towel if it was going in the wash anyway.

Jom222 · Yesterday 20:30

I'd use a paper towel but not my sock. I can't abide wet socks so wouldn't do that.

No way in hell I'd get the mop out for this! Then again I called the sheltie into the kitchen last night to eat the ground beef I'd spilled as I cooked it then I wiped the floor w/a paper towel and some spray cleaner. Saturday I'll mop as always.

I'm a terrible housekeeper 😅

BoarBrush · Yesterday 20:33

No chance I'd use my sock, coffees sticky as feck. As dh now knows after I've told him off a million times, making my coffee too!

Our lab doesn't even lick the granules up so definitely a baby wipe/blue roll job.

oh that's just nasty. I have so many questions I really don't want answered-why is someone at work in their stocking feet? Why would they do that so anyone else could see? And yes a sugary trail gives me the ick. I call that waffle house floor where your shoes slap and stick on whatever was spilled.

YUCK I retract my earlier statement re being a terrible housekeeper-this is foul and even I wouldn't do it.

pinkpanther84 · Yesterday 20:35

I’d use a kitchen towel and maybe a wet wipe, but not a mop for a tiny amount

ErrolTheDragon · Yesterday 20:36

I’d use an e-cloth, I’ve loads of them, washed when I’ve got a good bucketful along with tea towels etc.
Kitchen roll is a bit wasteful. Mop OTT for a spoonful of liquid but using a sock is ridiculous - you’d be treading it all over the place afterwardsConfused

dreamingofgoodhair · Yesterday 20:38

Kitchen roll , cloth , tea towel , sleeve 😂

Delphiniumandlupins · Yesterday 20:43

Don't people wear shoes at your work? Why would anyone have a sock handy for wiping up spills? I think some kind of paper or cloth is easier than a mop.

wildnwilde · Yesterday 20:54

Is use sock or a tea towel

StuNur85 · Yesterday 20:57

Id spray it and wipe it up with kitchen roll for that amount.

nicepotoftea · Yesterday 21:02

If it's just a small spill you don't want to clean it up with something that will be even more of a faff to clean.

DewDropsAndCobWebs · Yesterday 21:04

So it was coffee with cream and sugar in it, so would be sticky/attract ants/track about.
Other person was about to slide there clog off, when I went any got the Swiffer mop

So effectively paper towel on a stick?

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · Yesterday 21:18

I would use kitchen paper/paper towel for this. Definitely not a mop. At home I might get the robot vacuum/map going if it hasn’t been done yet that day but definitely wouldn’t be hand mopping.

But wouldn't they have put their clog straight back on after? Why would you be concerned that they would walk their sticky sock over the shop floor?

JoannCourcyIveGotThePowerNSoul · Yesterday 21:22

Bit of k roll

ChocolateCinderToffee · Yesterday 21:25

Wet dishcloth which I'd then shove straight in the washing machine.

ThatLemonBee · Yesterday 21:26

But a sick but I would use paper towel and a kitchen wipe . Mop is for big spills lol

ratatouillemousesqueak · Yesterday 21:32

I would have grabbed some kitchen roll I think. If it’s super sticky then a second go with a damp one. But wouldn’t get a mop out unless it was a big spillage

ratatouillemousesqueak · Yesterday 21:32

But wouldn’t have left it. That’s rude

Frostynoman · Yesterday 21:32

That’s around 20mls? Either j cloth with t towel or a mop if it were to hand

I'm not saying that this, in isolation, is OCD (it would need to be more frequent and cause problems) but the specificity of categorising/justifying whether a spill this small needs mopping by the micro ingredients of it and imagining stickiness being tracked about and ants (in October) is close to contamination-OCD type thinking.
