First I ever heard of it was yesterday.

People act like it’s only non white people that do this.

A police mugshot of Alina Burns, wearing a black hooded jacket and a grey T-shirt. She has blue eyes and her blonde hair is closely shaven. She is standing against a light grey background, looking ahead with a blank expression.

Father of jailed neo-Nazi teenager says 'everyone failed her'

Alina Burns, 19, was jailed in May for attempting to behead a barber.

Yes I did hear about it, it happened in an area I used to live in and was widely reported. People were shocked at her age and how young she appears for such a terrible crime.

I can't take such a ridiculous question, seriously.

But I am serious.

If you can't clearly describe the pattern that you think you have seen, then it might be bias from reading too many right wing news sources.

What pattern?

Seriously? Sod off with your faux innocence

I take it your eyes are working. If they not, I can't help I'm afraid.

LuckyHazelFox · Today 14:17

I suppose this is the latest deflective tactic. Compare the different ways of butchery. The fact we are even talking about beheading in 2026 is shocking in itself. No pattern though.

Edited for spelling mistake.

Walkyrie · Today 14:18

Of course this is a far right racist attack, what else could it be? The facts are plain.

Each loss of life is equal. The harm is the same.

But far far far more people have been killed by extremist Islamist terrorism in this country than far right nationalist attacks. The numbers don’t even come close.

There’s no point playing the ‘what about’ game.

Can you provide a list of attempted beheadings in the UK in the last 5 years, with demographic info on the perps?

Do you have statistics on religiously or racially motivated attacks?

Or is this just a vibes-based position on your part?

Backedoffhackedoff · Today 14:23

Why haven’t we heard of it though? This is the real two tier system that the far-right try to claim is affecting them.

This girl was radicalised so clearly it’s an act of terrorism but because she is white it is classed as a mental health issue. This is even memed time and time again in social media

I have a family member who was a sociol worker. The worst things she regularly dealt with were “worse” than the cases that made waves in the media- it’s just the way it goes to be honest.

im surprised this wasn’t a bigger story, but the Belfast incident was filmed and members of f the public intervened so I guess it was “noisier”

TheKittenswithMittens · Today 14:27

It is two tier. She has gone to prison for 15 years, whereas the Nottingham killer goes to hospital.

It's only attempted beheadings you're interested in? Perhaps you and OP can work collaboratively on trying to prove there's nothing to see here. Same as there wasn't with Henry Nowak. Until the next savage act, reflecting a different set of cultural values takes place.

Both incidents are horrible..innocent people suffered:(. Is the motive behind both incidents the same?

Nobody can possibly know about the recent attack. If it comes to a trial where the defendant pleads not guilty there will be a lot of evidence presented about his mental state and background. If he pleads guilty I assume there would be far less information in the public domain, but the police may put out a statement. It could have been a racist or terrorist attack. He might have been off his head on drugs or alcohol. It could also have been an attack while he was in the grip of schizophrenia. All pure speculation.

The young woman's motivation seems to have been racism but she is obviously also very ill mentally and probably unable to think logically. I hope she gets some effective treatment while she is in the criminal justice system, but given the current state of both our prisons and our mental health system I'm not optimistic.

Chinesedave · Today 14:33

Oh god thanks OP.

We have an unknown native population of potential violent lunatics in the UK already so it really doesn't matter that we allow hundreds more violent lunatics in from other countries does it?

Stupid me. I hadn't thought of it that way.

ElvirRamcic · Today 14:35

Well if white people are doing it too, that’s ok then.

Secure psychiatric hospitals are not pleasant places to be. I wouldn't be at all surprised if this young woman ends up in one too. Many people sentenced to prison terms are transferred to secure units if it becomes clear that they are severely mentally ill and need treatment which is beyond the scope of the prison mental health team to give them. I think it's often uncontrollable violence and self-harm that leads to the transfer.

Oh she did?.. so justice has been served. I hope the justice is same for all🤞🏻.. after all its the first right of the victims!

There are lots of incidents of crimes caused/contributed to radicalisation that are also concluded as being MH issues rather than terrorism per se, this is a poor argument to try to make. Its not because she's white, she appears to have been mentally ill. There is huge overlap between the radicalised and those with MH disorders

In any case, one wonders if the MH reasoning is accurate

Showing she’s not actually mentally unwell and instead did it because she’s an evil cunt

ElvirRamcic · Today 14:44

And your contention is that was because he was black and the perpetrator in the OP is white?

I’m assuming you’ve read all the sentencing reports and medical information and taken into account the various sentencing guidelines when making that very strong assertion, rather than just talking out of your arse.

Depends how good your legal team is.

So nothing to do with race then, just that one had a better legal team than the other?

Personally I’d rather do a stretch in prison than be incarcerated in a secure hospital, but maybe that’s just me.

Lots of people in prison have MH issues.

I refer you to the case of Lucy Connelly and Ricky Jones for differences in legal teams.

Don't be rude. If you have a counterpoint, try and make it without the personal attack.
