I just had a shower as it’s boiling. My friend said I can’t believe you shower a few times a day? Lol she said even when it’s hot I bath once a week 🫢🤣

Who cares . I woudnt be washing my hair more than once every few days cos it’s not good for it. But apart from that who cares

Papyrophile · Yesterday 17:02

I've just had my second today. Mowing the rough "lawn" for the first time is hot messy work!

Nothing is 'normal', as such

Has no one ever heard of a strip wash? In the days before showers how do you think people kept clean?

Good grief 🙄

I think a shower is quicker than a strip wash. Why are the English so afraid of soap and water.

pilates · Yesterday 17:55

Oh no the floodgates will now be open by people saying it’s perfectly acceptable to shower once a week 🤮 and how they never smell 😂

OnlyHasEyesForLoki · Yesterday 17:57

Crikey! I bath or shower every day and I think that’s normal. I recently had surgery and wasn’t allowed to shower for 3 days to keep the wounds and dressing dry but I still stood at the sink and washed my face, pits and bits every day!

They didn't, to my satisfaction.

We have showers now, so unless it's an emergency, use them.

Some people with common skin conditions (eczema etc) are advised to not shower/bathe daily as it makes it worse so it doesn't need to be 'an emergency' leave it in a day or two and just do a 'pits and bits' wash on other days.

I've had eczema since I was a kid and have been hospitalised for it several times. I use aqueous cream in the shower.

murasaki · Yesterday 18:03

I don't do baths though, that really dries your skin out.

ToadRage · Yesterday 18:05

If I have been outside sunbathing I will have a quick cool shower to rinse off the sweat and suncream but if not i don't feel the need to do more than my regular shower.

A few times a day seems a lot. But once a day is totally normal. And one bath a week is rank.

Ridiculous to assume people are not washing between the weekly baths. A luxurious soak is a once a week experience for me but I can't do that every day

I think once a day is surely what most people do? And showering more often due to hot weather is also pretty normal - not everyone does it but it’s not unusual or surprising. People also might shower multiple times a day if they want to feel fresh before going out in the evening or if they’ve exercised after showering in the morning. All very standard.

Is it? And really not very good for the skin (or environment). I would have thought every other day was more normal

This thread is ridiculous….
just take a 5 minute shower and stop fannying about washing your fanny arse and pits with a bloody cloth ffs.
Its 2026
( said as I’ve just stood behind someone in my local supermarket who was dressed up to the nines with full makeup and coiffed hair)
She absolutely stunk of BO and filthy fanny
Revolting

@Fleurdalys - I can assure you that, despite not having a daily shower, I do not smell. And no, I am sure I am not ‘nose blind’ to my smell because I am aware, during the day, of smelling the perfume I am wearing, so I am sure I would smell BO too.

It is really hurtful to see repeated posts saying someone like me must smell.

I didn’t say you must smell?
Some folk do

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · Yesterday 18:53

It is pretty clear that you think people who don’t shower daily are dirty, smelly people, @Fleurdalys.

Clarabell77 · Yesterday 18:54

Once a day in normal weather twice a day in hot weather

independentfriend · Yesterday 18:56

I think showering daily, just before going to bed is usually reasonable in the heat because that should help people cool down to sleep.

But excess showering / bathing is a waste of water and water is often in short supply when there are extended hot periods. So in general there's no need to take several showers a day (exception for manual labourers / after vigorous exercise / incontinence etc). Most people can have a strip wash if they need to wash a second time in the day.

MrsRoth · Yesterday 19:18

Sorry. No matter the weather I shower in the morning and at night before bedtime. I think it is respectful with people I love and work with. Also it is hygienic. A bath/shower once a week?

MrsCrimbleCrumble · Yesterday 19:20

I shower twice a day on normal days, sometimes even three times. I love showering and feeling clean. I also won't poop if I can't shower after. Lol.

Wetcoatsandmudagain · Yesterday 19:24

Always once a day here but in hot weather it’s twice
