AIBU to think showering daily in hot weather is normal?

I just had a shower as it’s boiling. My friend said I can’t believe you shower a few times a day? Lol she said even when it’s hot I bath once a week 🫢🤣

A few times a day is extreme.

When the weather is really hot, yes 2 or 3 times a day, but usually a quick v leisurely shower. That said I used to spend a lot of time in Asia where this is the norm

I am my DD'S childcare. When the children were younger and it was hot, I'd often have a tepid bath, just before she was due in, after being in parks etc all day. Part of the joy of our, over 55 apartment, is the new walk in shower and it's lovely how easy it is to shower twice a day. I've started body brushing and it's helping my "heavy leg feeling" but I don't have time of a morning. Unless you have a skin condition, you don't have to limit yourself.

There are innumerable reasons why a person might not get in the bath more than once a week, including a whole list of physical disabilities and executive dysfunctions, plus things like financial constraints on heating the water. What it doesn't necessarily mean, however, is that the person is dirty or smelly, because there are other ways of washing.
Personally, I only get in the shower or bath when there's another person in the house for disability/safety reasons, which means sometimes I have to strip wash instead. This is safer for me, but doesn't mean I'm not clean.
Stop being so judgey, unless your friend literally stinks, and even then they would deserve compassion not nastiness.

Isn’t daily just normal ? In the winter I’ll shower each morning and then a lovely soak in the bath at night . Yesterday me and the OH both had two showers as it was soo hot we showered again in the evening. I think she’s having you on surely ?

redhatpurplehair We all had strip washes when I was little and the water kept warm with a kettle in the basin.

People cared for in bed have bed baths don’t they so showers are a bloomin luxury with the cost of water 🤗🌷

Do you know how much that costs you in electricity/gas/water per day? I bet someone on a prepayment meter would know down to the pence.

My point is, that, no, it isn't necessarily 'normal' to use that level of resources twice daily, and people who can't for whatever reason aren't 'having you on'.

I shower every other day usually. In hot weather I might have two a day. I try to wash my hair every three days.

I do wash vitals on non-shower days!

Shower number 3 just had. First when I woke up. Second after weights. Third after mowing the grass and cutting down a disgustingly sticky smokebush.
I was bath on a Sunday child in the 80's. My parents aren't far off that still out of choice. I'm normally one shower in morning plus one after exercise. I won't be changing that unless life forces me otherwise.

Ahh well - it looks as if that those of us who don’t, or can’t shower daily are balancing out those who have multiple showers each day. 😉😂

I just shower as much as I feel I need to. Sometimes that's every other day, sometimes every day and occasionally twice a day or once a day and a bath (for relaxing, not for washing)

I try and wash my hair every other day, occasionally I can stretch it to every two but sometimes it needs doing daily.

I had a shower and washed my hair yesterday evening. This morning I went for a run but since I was just going to be covering myself in oil I didn't bother having a shower until this evening. I didn't really want to wash my hair but it was greasy from the oil and I have work in the morning. If I wasn't going anywhere I would have left it another day. I won't need a shower in the morning but I'll either have one again tomorrow evening or Tuesday morning before work.

If I lived alone and didn't interact with anyone I would probably not have bothered stripping the bed and having a shower from Friday to this evening unless I felt like I needed one. I would have stripped and remade the bed ready for a clean me to go in it tonight. Might be disgusting with all the sweat and suncream but if it was only me nobody would ever know.

Shower every morning, washing my hair every other day. Plus as needed if I get hot and sweaty, e.g. been digging down the allotment or out in hot weather.
So when I got in today, having met friends in the park and back on a long hot bus ride (London 30C+ today) I had a quick cool shower and fresh clothes. The transformation in my personal wellbeing from a damp hot dishrag to comfortable human being was very much NOT a waste of water.

No I don’t know 🤷‍♀️ but like another poster said even if I did I don’t think it would change my ways although I’ve just checked our electricity cost for yesterday on the app and with 6 showers as my son and gf also had one and normal everyday other electricity useage cost £2.37 which I’m not unhappy about cos I think 58p is standing charge

Our shower runs off the boiler and costs between 10-20p for a 5 minute shower.

Couldn’t agree more! I had a shower first thing this morning. Been sat out in the garden most of the day, just been for a local stroll and got home feeling like an absolute sweaty mess. We’re heading out for an early dinner now with friends and I have absolutely just had a second shower of the day at 4pm to feel nice and refreshed for the evening. There’s no way I could’ve gone back out for a meal feeling so gross. My shower was ice cold and divine, and absolutely not a waste of money!

Be grateful. We wouldn’t have been able to have a hot shower just a hundred years ago, less!
Keep em quick and easy on the products. Productless on any subsequents ~ it’s a freshen up.

I usually shower before bed and have a quick wash in the morn. Atm I'm showering 3x a day! Aircon in my truck is broken so it's 37°C and I'm wearing full safety gear - thick trousers/long sleeved acrylic shirt, and then hardhat and thick earmuffs once onsite.

I'm so sweaty I'm showering before the gym as well as after as stale sweat is a whole different thing to clean sweat once you get exercising.

I’ve said it several times on this thread - due to long covid disability I can’t shower every day, and on the days I don’t shower, I have a good wash. I use an effective antiperspirant and wear perfume, and I am not ‘gross’ or smelly. And I’m not nose blind to my own smell either - I get whiffs of whatever perfume I’m wearing throughout the day, but no BO.
