I just had a shower as it’s boiling. My friend said I can’t believe you shower a few times a day? Lol she said even when it’s hot I bath once a week 🫢🤣

OP posts:

I shower (or run a deep bath) every second or third day. I use deodorant every day.

intrepidpanda · 22/05/2026 20:35

Depends on the person. Some are sweatier than others

CaptainMyCaptain · 22/05/2026 20:18

How do you know that?

Because my parents, who lived in pre-war London slums without running hot water where they had a once a week shared bath in front of the fire, told me all about it.

As a result, they kept themselves scrupulously clean when they had the advantage of an indoor bathroom and a shower. They didn't celebrate the strip wash because it's rank.

You shower once a week in hot weather?

And when I have to venture out in public

I also swim in the sea o'r river most days through summer

I'm not celebrating it I'm just saying it's possible.

Surely you shower or bathe after that?

MasterBeth · 22/05/2026 20:41

It's possible isn't much of a claim.

Fleurdalys · 22/05/2026 20:43

These posts 🤦‍♀️
Just fucking shower daily like a regular human being?
Strip washes with stinky flannels around your smelliest parts?
Give it a rest, just shower for 5 mins fgs

JustGiveMeReason · 22/05/2026 20:43

It's another of these 'Throw out a ridiculous rage bait' threads, which the OP doesn't come back to, isn't it ?

EarthaKittsVoice · 22/05/2026 19:48

In hot weather I shower more than once a day. You've been sweating and all that, you gotta shower/wash more than once.

On the hour every hour anything less is just grim, vile blah blah blah.

I’d say you especially needed a shower after swimming in either of those bodies of water these days, sadly.

SqueakyFromme · 22/05/2026 20:46

@JustGiveMeReason it probably is but having said that I have been assaulted with some very unpleasant aromas these last two days

MN special nose?

SqueakyFromme · 22/05/2026 20:49

@NotTheOrdinary you have no idea honestly, and it’s not just me that has noticed it. Noting to do with being a super smeller. It’s where I work

Tigerbalmshark · 22/05/2026 20:51

I can’t believed you have a shower a couple times a day either. Assume you aren’t on a water meter! There is a middle ground between that and washing once a month.

VeganSteakAndFries · 22/05/2026 20:52

I wash twice a day.
Usually a shower in the morning to wake up, wash hair etc…

Then I often have a bath in the pm… i sit in there for ages. Love it. I realise if that doesn’t cause outrage, the fact that my DH shares my bath water probably will 🤣🤣🤣

SnipSnipMrBurgess · 22/05/2026 21:00

Ah competitive hygiene Olympics, is it that time of year again?

Next week it will be how often do you wash your sheets.

I wash 12 times a day with a mix of dettol and bleach, as should everyone!

TheYorkshirePudding · 22/05/2026 21:01

ComtesseDeSpair · 22/05/2026 15:59

I suppose it depends on your activity level, though showering a few times a day sounds a bit excessive for just a “normal” day: I shower three times a day on my office days, but I cycle to and from the office and go to the gym at lunchtime, so I’m washing off actual sweat and grime. Home days it’s just one shower.

Once a week is pretty gross unless your friend is having proper washes on the intervening days; though I always wonder about whether any actual time is saved for people who do that, it’s quicker to stand under the shower for a couple of minutes than faff about with a sink and flannels.

This. Get in the shower every day people. Get in the shower more if you exercise or it’s hot. It’s normal. It’s a few minutes. ‘Strip wash’ doesn’t rinse grime.

But they can afford to heat water for a strip wash?

Well yes. A kettle of hot water is considerably cheaper.

It certainly seems to be.

Extra points are awarded for the use of 'rank', 'gross' and 'disgusting' (although you get extra extra points for 'discustin').

I personally wash my sheets every two hours and buy new pillows every week. Anything less is positively rancid.

Has no one ever heard of a strip wash? In the days before showers how do you think people kept clean?

Good grief 🙄

Easier to just have a shower

Thissideof40 · 22/05/2026 21:13

I shower daily regardless of weather. Once a week is rank!

OriginalSkang · 22/05/2026 21:13

I go to the gym daily so often shower twice a day. I use emollient shower gel and don't wash my hair more than once a day

I have crappy, spot prone, skin and its MUCH worse if I don't shower every day

I couldn't go bed if I was covered with suncream and sweat so sometimes have a really quick shower before bed. I've no idea how people can sleep with suncream on, its feels horrible

paddyclampofthethirdkind · 22/05/2026 21:14

Strip wash?!?! It’s the height of bad hygiene!! What happens to the face cloth, or should I say arse cloth!

I have a shower once a day, minimum! Thought that was normal!!

To me a strip wash is a lot more hassle than just jumping in the shower!
