MOTHER'S DAY IS RUINED!

(Lighthearted... sort of). DD (4yo) proudly presented me with a box of Heroes and some flowers this morning that she chose yesterday. Lovely. Except.... THERE WAS ONLY ONE CRUNCHIE IN THE BOX. ONE. JUST ONE.

AIBU to think Cadburys are taking the mick?

Does anyone else want to share their lightheaded mother's day disappointments?

Yes...I got some apples out of the fridge in the garage and saw the 2 little cans of espresso martini that was meant to be a surprise for me

Thesnailonthewhale · 15/03/2026 08:22

I spilt my coffee on my nice pyjama shirt 😥

TheWonderhorse · 15/03/2026 08:23

I've had my lie in ruined by a million WhatsApp notifications of people wishing us all a happy mother's day.

A genuine joke, I don't need anything. My kids give me so much more than they realise already, although I think I might have stumbled across a large box of Maltesers that just might be mine and I won't say no!

KnickerlessFlannel · 15/03/2026 08:24

I thought it was Monday, lazily checked the time on my phone and jumped up as I thought we were all running really late with no alarms.gone off etc. Then realised it it Sunday and I have no alarms and nowhere to be, but couldn't get back to sleep! Dd5 has asked her dad to help with 'a special operation ' so I am intrigued

hellotomrw · 15/03/2026 08:25

I’m in hospital with my 3 year old so 😂

TheRozzers · 15/03/2026 08:27

My DD made me scrambled eggs with cream. Squirty cream she found and the back of the fridge. Left over from Christmas 🤢

Please report back on the special operation!

My Mother's Day mantra, " working twice as hard on Saturday, so it doesn't go tits up on Monday" That kind of sums up Mothers day to me 😂

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/03/2026 08:29

Ahh but how many of the Creme Egg Twisted did you get , just to hack you right off if it was more than four
@Oneandanotheroneistwo

<Disclaimer> I'm the only one who eats them, they are always soft unlike the Creme Egg Minis that are usually solid Hmm

Hope everything is ok.

Isadora2007 · 15/03/2026 08:31

YABU as the crunchie ones are rubbish- though better than the crème egg ones for sure!

10yr old DD had planned to make me breakfast in bed, and DH is away so no one to help manage the situation…when woken with it at 6.45 my first reaction was shock and frustration at the time and why any of them were even up (everyone usually lies in on a Sunday). Poor DD went away with her breakfast and I couldn’t get back to sleep, now feeling guilty that I didn’t give her a bit more time guidance but I didn’t think…we are going out for an ice cream later so hopefully the Mother’s Day vibe can be revived…

DDog woke me at 0700 - I won’t be able to sleep now but he is now fast asleep on my leg. So I can’t move to get more tea!

RandomMess · 15/03/2026 08:35

The gift from one of my 6 week old kittens was escaping their confinement pen and doing a runny 💩 with pawprints all over the floor.

No one else up to do the honourable thing and clean it up 🤣

Oneandanotheroneistwo · 15/03/2026 08:35

@70isaLimitNotaTargetI haven't counted but definitely more than 4, luckily DH likes them

Still waiting for my kids (older) to get up so made my own breakfast in bed !

neverbeenskiing · 15/03/2026 08:38

DS (7) woke me up at 6am as he was so excited to give me a picture he's drawn of me which genuinely looks like an homage to Edvard Munch's The Scream.

AmazingBees · 15/03/2026 08:40

My DS gave me a card made in nursery that had a chocolate stuck on it. Then had a tantrum because he wanted to eat the chocolate (I gave half, but that wasn't good enough...)

watchuswreckthemic · 15/03/2026 08:42

My teen has just text me asking me to go up and check her hair for nits as it’s going round my youngest’s class and she is paranoid 😂 youngest has scuttled upstairs after putting an orange on a plate for me

cantthinkofagoodusername1 · 15/03/2026 08:43

Woken up an hour earlier than usual by my very excited 6yo DD whispering ‘Happy mothers day’ in my ear, which scared the bejesus out of me!

GetOffTheCounter · 15/03/2026 08:45

Mine have forgotten completely. I did say to them last week not to worry about it, so they haven't. (That's okay by the way).

I possibly should ring my mother but she's in Australia and it's not mother's day there so she won't know anything about it and I'm not sure I can be bothered.

Namechangefordaughterevasion · 15/03/2026 08:45

MyDH and his wife had our first grandchild last week so my Mothers Day will be hosting our whole clan for our first ever 4 generation family celebration. It will be a whole lot of work but I'm so happy!!

MrHouse13 · 15/03/2026 08:45

Mine (adults) are
asleep but noticed my card - left open on the table for DS to
add his bit is a
Happy Birthday Nanna!
