MOTHER'S DAY IS RUINED!

(Lighthearted... sort of). DD (4yo) proudly presented me with a box of Heroes and some flowers this morning that she chose yesterday. Lovely. Except.... THERE WAS ONLY ONE CRUNCHIE IN THE BOX. ONE. JUST ONE.

AIBU to think Cadburys are taking the mick?

Does anyone else want to share their lightheaded mother's day disappointments?

Sympathies! My mother would be devastated as she loved Crunchies, but to be honest I don’t know another soul who does!

Heatedrival · 15/03/2026 09:24

My DD has given me a big bag of things from SpaceNK. I’m a bit overwhelmed. Things she knew I liked and make up she thought I would love.
She is such a sweetie.

NoYourNameChanged · 15/03/2026 09:24

As long as there’s several crème egg ones, the world is yet to be doomed imo.

on my part, I made a bit of a planning error (or was it??) and have sorted my daughters birthday party for today (first birthday). On the one hand, this sucks because I’m spending Mother’s Day morning making sausage rolls and fairy cakes and decorating her cake (baked yesterday) and cleaning and tidying the house, plus of course a lot of people couldn’t come due to pre-existing Mother’s Day plans. The flip side to the is that a lot of people can’t come due to pre-existing Mother’s Day plans, so less people in my house 😂

Enjoy Bronte. I'm off for a Das Boot marathon.

It's Jane Austen!

FancyCatSlave · 15/03/2026 09:25

DD (6) produced a lovely card and paper flower arrangement made at school, real flowers and my favourite chocolates. Plus warm croissants in bed.

Aided and funded by my ex - he may be my ex (still living together post divorce) but he’s quite a good egg in some respects.

I’m driving down to my parents for Sunday lunch, my dad is cooking. No complaints here 😊

I’ve just been gifted a used air fryer bought from the charity shop. - I have never wanted an air fryer - let alone one that still has remnants of the previous owners dinner in there …

You win the thread so far 🤣

We live on the NC500 route and had a dad and his two children come to the door this morning and ask if they could have some daffodils from our verges for their mum. They’re parked up in a camper van not far from our house. It would normally have enraged me people picking my daffs but in the spirit of Mothers Day DH climbed the verge and sent them off with a bunch tied with baler twine. If you’re in a camper van from Northampton with two children whose names start with a C and a D enjoy your daffs 🥰

My DC are young adults. DS1 is with his gf, he’ll show up at some point. DD is working & left a wee gift & card on her way out the door. DS2 is in bed sleeping off a night out with his mates. So it’s me &
Ddog (who didn't make me a cuppa) chilling on the couch. No doubt I will have to take her out in the rain & wind soon🤣

notwittywithusernames · 15/03/2026 09:26

MyDH and his wife had our first grandchild last week so my Mothers Day will be hosting our whole clan for our first ever 4 generation family celebration. It will be a whole lot of work but I'm so happy!!

Are you a Sisterwife? Or do you mean your ds? 🤔

Fundays12 · 15/03/2026 09:27

My 9 and 6 year old woke the whole house up at 6 am by being super loud. Dh bought me a bunch of roses last night which is nice in theory except they were already dying and I cut my fingers sorting them. I wish he would just buy a cheap bunch of tulips instead. Dh has been told to take the kids out as I want peace. I havent had any in months as all the kids have been unwell one after the other.

MaRhodes · 15/03/2026 09:29

They were complaining on the radio last year that the Celebrations advent calendar had Bounties 3 days in a row.

Mumek · 15/03/2026 09:32

When my son was 7 (he's 58 now) he brought me 'coffee' in bed on Mothers Day - except it was gravy powder complete with milk and sugar .

Rounder888 · 15/03/2026 09:34

My two year old found my Mother’s Day smellies in the cupboard last night when getting her dressing gown out, and proudly bought them into me 😂

MotherofBassets · 15/03/2026 09:35

My grown DS is pretty great at Mothers Day so I'm lucky. When he was 12 he promised me breakfast in bed which turned out to be a martini, served from a cocktail shaker into the proper glass and a croissant. He'd heard me saying I'd like to try one. It was awesome a lovely idea, maybe just not at 9.30am. Off to brunch then 2 garden centres shortly. Love to all Mums whose day isn't as great.
Nothing from the cat which I'm gutted about.

Hotcrossed · 15/03/2026 09:35

i am hung over

edit
actually i have had a bowl of cereal while waiting for adult dd to make my promised breakfast and my hangover is disappearing.

PaintNPaper · 15/03/2026 09:35

My 5 yr old had a stomach bug on Friday, woke up half hour ago to my DD and DH both throwing up and running back and forth to the loo every few mins with diarrhoea.

They still didn’t wake me up and let me sleep in and I feel really guilty now!

Uptightmumma · 15/03/2026 09:36

I had to go to boots yesterday and buy my own Clinique stuff cos my husband was working and didn’t have time!! I took his card and treated me the kids to a Costa while we were out 😂😂😂. Also DH and eldest child are going the match this afternoon leaving me to look after the others. Make tea and iron uniforms 🫠

BigHoops · 15/03/2026 09:38

Ha OP I thought you meant all chocolates had been eaten save for one lone crunchie - that would have been bad 🤣

Just feeling a little sad that the days of home made cards and gifts are over. Grateful for what I do have though.

Also DH decided this would be the morning to do lots of unnecessary chores. Came back from my run to the contents of a plastic box strewn all around the bedroom. Cheers for that!

Wishing you all a lovely Mother's Day 💐

Hartleyhare1206 · 15/03/2026 09:40

My usual post 8am waker, is full of cold and woke me at 6.55am half singing, half spluttering “happy mommy’s day to you”
I tried very hard to smile graciously whilst trying not to A) shit myself from the shock, and B) not recoil in horror as coughed up phlegm splattered my face!

Was then presented with my gift - a stand mixer…..because (and I quote) “the box says it can make brownies. Brownies are my favourite. Can you get up and make me some now. Please?” 🤣🤣🤣

At least this years Mother’s Day didn’t fall on the Sunday the clocks changed. It did last year an all mums everywhere lost an hours sleep. They wouldn’t dare do that to a man on Father’s Day, would they?! 😳🙄😄

KimuraTan · 15/03/2026 09:41

One Mother’s Day my kids brought me a cup of tea with buttered toast and a cooked egg - except it wasn’t cooked 😂😂

Rowgtfc72 · 15/03/2026 09:41

Dd(19) bought me a massive Toblerone. I was diagnosed dairy intolerant in Jan. I shall eat it slowly.
She also got me a card that said dont piss yourself and one from the dog that said threes a crowd, let's ditch dad.
Also got some lovely candles and the best present- a cooplands cherry danish.
She's ordered me a black coffee from maccies after not realising she had to defrost the bacon first for the bacon buns, which have no buns.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 15/03/2026 09:41

DH made me a cup of tea (very rare) and our adult DC have messaged saying HMD. They're all coming here later with my Mum and we're having afternoon tea... that I'm making Hmm Grin

What really touched me was our youngest (almost) son-in-law who bought me flowers yesterday, and said I was his second mum. Made me cry, he's the loveliest of men and I'm so blessed that DD found him.

Mingey · 15/03/2026 09:42

Well I got a packet of digestive biscuits for Mother's Day. I split from DDs dad as he had multiple affairs.

I don't need validation to know I'm a good parent but come on. Why bother? I'd rather have nothing.

10yr old DD had planned to make me breakfast in bed, and DH is away so no one to help manage the situation…when woken with it at 6.45 my first reaction was shock and frustration at the time and why any of them were even up (everyone usually lies in on a Sunday). Poor DD went away with her breakfast and I couldn’t get back to sleep, now feeling guilty that I didn’t give her a bit more time guidance but I didn’t think…we are going out for an ice cream later so hopefully the Mother’s Day vibe can be revived…

Oh no 😭. Please eat the breakfast! Hope the atmosphere revives itself. I'm sure I would have reacted the same way BTW 😂

The situation, dire as it seems, might be even more horrific than you imagine.
Supposing one of your DC or even DH broke into the box of Heroes and ate all but one of the crunchies?
No, nothing that bad could happen on Mother's Day, ignore me.
