MOTHER'S DAY IS RUINED!

(Lighthearted... sort of). DD (4yo) proudly presented me with a box of Heroes and some flowers this morning that she chose yesterday. Lovely. Except.... THERE WAS ONLY ONE CRUNCHIE IN THE BOX. ONE. JUST ONE.

AIBU to think Cadburys are taking the mick?

Does anyone else want to share their lightheaded mother's day disappointments?

My little girl was ill this week so no nursery. Was looking forward to a painting of her handprints, was nice to spend the extra time with her though.

Oh, and she's spread her conjunctivitis to me.. and my husband which means no sympathy as we're in the same boat 🙄

My DD made me scrambled eggs with cream. Squirty cream she found and the back of the fridge. Left over from Christmas 🤢

This wins!

Bless her.

Sympathies! My mother would be devastated as she loved Crunchies, but to be honest I don’t know another soul who does!

I do! I feel OPs pain!

ToffeePennie · 15/03/2026 09:48

We aren’t even having Mother’s Day. My husband has gone completely crazy and decided we need to strip out our bedroom to its base boards and start again.
So I’m not even getting a Mother’s Day as I have to help him and my children aren’t even here….

My best gift came a few days ago from a 10 year old GS, who, after I jokingly asked him how much he might pay me for something he wanted doing, said "I don't have any money but will pay you with love." That'll do for me!! 😀

What a wonderful GS 😍

400rider · 15/03/2026 09:51

I’ve was informed by my grandson that he’s going to help me in the garden (we’ve been rebuilding the raised planter). Digging for worms it is….
He’s 3 -3/4 years old

FamingolosForDays · 15/03/2026 09:52

My DC are with their dad.

Mothers day is ruined 🤪😜

He is cooking lunch later so I will go there and hopefully be presented with gin. And then he can drive us all home.🤣

Rainbow1901 · 15/03/2026 09:53

I'm not usually emotive about these things and I do have children and grandchildren who will be along at some point today. I have just come off the phone from chatting to my son who phoned to wish me a lovely day.
But today I would have just loved to see my Mum and given her a hug who would have been 99 in a few days and I appreciate those who have reached out to those who don't have their Mum, Have a lovely Mother's Day 💐💐

My 12 year old DS has just presented me with a card, in which he's written "Your the best Mum ever". Yet I have failed - trying to bite my tongue about apostrophes 🤣

Ha ha I’ve got a ‘your the best’ too!! She’s 15 and I’ve tried every year to reeducate!!!

My kids very kindly agreed to put the washing on (when I asked them to) but have filled the drawer with floor cleaner instead of laundry liquid so I'm doing it all again.
They also sang "Happy Mother's Day To You" at the crack of dawn accompanied by tuneless ukulele thrashing, and presented me with a giant Thing made out of painted egg boxes which I have no idea what to do with.
They're great kids 🥰

🤣🤣🤣this is my winner. 🤩💐

My eldest is now 33. When he was about 7 he made me Mother’s Day breakfast in bed. Coco Pops and a cup of tea….. I thought it was only slightly warm, turns out he’d used the hot water tap to make said tea.

enjoy these days ladies as one blink and they’ve families of their own.

I think my dd was about the same age when she made me a breakfast drink.

A vodka tonic. Heavy on the vodka. No ice. No lemon.

Yes, I moved the vodka bottle to a high shelf.

PuppiesProzacProsecco · 15/03/2026 09:59

DS made me a toasted pancake with white chocolate spread and jam. All set up beautifully with flowers, sweets, a new mug (filled with coffee) and a candle.

Unfortunately, whilst eating my delicious Mother's Day breakfast, I stroked the dog and then mistook a doggy eye booger for jam/spread and licked it off my finger 🤢

VividDeer · 15/03/2026 10:00

My 9yo woke me up as she doesnt know how to close a door quietly...

I’m in hospital with my 3 year old so 😂

I hope your little one feels better really. This must be a difficult day.

CoheedandCambria · 15/03/2026 10:05

Cavalierorwhat · 15/03/2026 10:01

Mine too!! From M&S?

From Sainsbury's I think. Trying to add a pic but it's not working.

fruitfly3 · 15/03/2026 10:06

My 6 year old was so excited he woke me at 6am and then repeatedly until 8am when I got up. The house looks like something has exploded and now it’s raining so I have two children to entertain and the whole house to tidy. Husband is hungover. Just another Sunday Funday!

HortiGal · 15/03/2026 10:07

Im off to work in the rain 😒
Will see my lot tomorrow.

MyDH and his wife had our first grandchild last week so my Mothers Day will be hosting our whole clan for our first ever 4 generation family celebration. It will be a whole lot of work but I'm so happy!!

I’m still puzzling (but sleepy, so excuse me)

Your husband and his wife…grandchild…

That might just ruin MD?

ButterflySkies · 15/03/2026 10:10

DD(5) has had a funny tummy this week. Woke me up at 5.45am as she had wet the bed, and declared “its a good job it wasnt a surprise squirty poo as it is mothers day today” 😂😂😂

the youngest has chosen today to say mama for the first time, so despite the early wake i am made up!

Unadventurous · 15/03/2026 10:11

quietlycontent · 15/03/2026 08:51

I got up at 6.45am on Mothers Day to take my eldest to the station (too far for a cab) so he can watch spurs lose as my husband has concussion so he's the one having a lie in ffs

Edited

This made me chuckle - I’m going to watch Spurs lose next weekend! 😂

Oh it's years since I read it. Ta.
