MOTHER'S DAY IS RUINED!

(Lighthearted... sort of). DD (4yo) proudly presented me with a box of Heroes and some flowers this morning that she chose yesterday. Lovely. Except.... THERE WAS ONLY ONE CRUNCHIE IN THE BOX. ONE. JUST ONE.

AIBU to think Cadburys are taking the mick?

Does anyone else want to share their lightheaded mother's day disappointments?

My dd came in early to see me … and ask for a lift to work. No mention of the M word.

socks1107 · 15/03/2026 08:46

That’s just awful!! 🤭

Nursery has just sent a message showing us pictures of the children making their mother's day cards.
I haven't opened mine yet so the surprise is now ruined....🤦‍♀️

ShinyBlueTractor · 15/03/2026 08:47

Haha! Great thread! I was instructed to have a relaxing long lie but I actually woke up at 5 to 7 and everyone else is still asleep. It's RUINED! 😁

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · 15/03/2026 08:48

One crunchie! 🙀🙀🙀I bet it was full of chocolate eclairs.

My teen has just text me asking me to go up and check her hair for nits as it’s going round my youngest’s class and she is paranoid 😂 youngest has scuttled upstairs after putting an orange on a plate for me

Nit check might win today 😂

Randomchat · 15/03/2026 08:49

THERE WAS ONLY ONE CRUNCHIE IN THE BOX. ONE. JUST ONE.

I thought you meant dd had eaten all the other sweets and left you just the one crunchie! That would have been a really bad start to the day

InMyOpenOnion · 15/03/2026 08:49

My 12 year old DS has just presented me with a card, in which he's written "Your the best Mum ever". Yet I have failed - trying to bite my tongue about apostrophes 🤣

FlibbertyGibbitt · 15/03/2026 08:51

My eldest is now 33. When he was about 7 he made me Mother’s Day breakfast in bed. Coco Pops and a cup of tea….. I thought it was only slightly warm, turns out he’d used the hot water tap to make said tea.

enjoy these days ladies as one blink and they’ve families of their own.

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 15/03/2026 08:51

My 3 are all still in bed (recently lost my grandad so sleep has been affected meaning they are all exhausted and clearly making up for it today) and DH worked last night so im sat downstairs with the dog on my own..... obviously catching up on my programmes in peace is awful 🤣

quietlycontent · 15/03/2026 08:51

I got up at 6.45am on Mothers Day to take my eldest to the station (too far for a cab) so he can watch spurs lose as my husband has concussion so he's the one having a lie in ffs

Coconutter24 · 15/03/2026 08:51

Why do we always have ‘disappointed’ threads, even if lighthearted? It’s the same every year everyone talks about what others have done wrong or not done, yet half of the posts we could easily look at the positive in what has been done but instead choose to look at it negatively. The exception on this thread is the comment on the nits… there’s not positive spin on that one 😂😂

Katemax82 · 15/03/2026 08:52

My 7 year old got up yesterday with about 10 blister spots on him. I'm sure it's chicken pox but he's fine in himself. So I'm going to be spending the day checking him every half hour to see if more spots appear

AltitudeCheck · 15/03/2026 08:52

Your DH and his wife?!? @Namechangefordaughterevasion that'd make for an awkward family day! 😆

BlueRidgeMountain · 15/03/2026 08:52

DS2 has accidentally spoiled my surprise present (autism and ADHD and cannot keep a secret!). He started with “you’re gonna love your present” and me, knowing exactly where this is going, saying “oh I can’t wait for my lovely surprise” but he just kept on going with a load of not so subtle clues, finally blurting out “it’s chocolate!!” Then “oh god don’t tell DS1 I told you!” I’ve promised I won’t say a word to DS1, but knowing DS2 he’ll confess later 😂

Tarahumara · 15/03/2026 08:53

We have other stuff going on today so we celebrated yesterday. Went for a lovely lunch and then set off for a nice walk in the sunshine. When we were halfway the sun disappeared behind a big grey cloud and there was an unexpected hailstorm.

Sending love 🌹

Won't see my two older kids. Off to work.

One Crunchie is one Crunchie too many! Hope you (all Mums here) have a fantastic day.

CoheedandCambria · 15/03/2026 08:55

My card says I'm a great mum but it also says 'Happy Birthday' 🙄

quietlycontent · 15/03/2026 08:55

I will add I have tulips and a present to open and got to have a chat on the way to the station. Now have coffee and the remote control so all good here!

Pumpkinpuffin · 15/03/2026 08:55

Babysitting 3yr old DGD last Wednesday. She dragged me into her parent's bedroom and showed me a "Lovely Mum" nightshirt hanging up and excitedly announced, "This is yours Granny!"

NigellaDelia · 15/03/2026 08:56

I was hoping to settle down on the sofa this afternoon with a nice drink and chocolates and watch a decent film, perhaps a period drama or a chick flick . . . .

The film the BBC is showing this afternoon is "How the West was Won"

The BBC was heavily criticised a few years ago for showing a WW2 film on Mother's Day afternoon . . . they don't seem to have learned at all!!!!

I think I will write to Points of View!

crazeekat · 15/03/2026 08:56

My husband and kids handed me a bag and 8 year old said oh mum ur gonna love these earrings lol before I opened it haha
