Made to feel uncomfortable

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 09:17

Now I’m all for people wearing what they want but I do think there is a time and a place. My husband was in the health club last night relaxing in the jacuzzi when a group of young women in their early 20s wearing bikinis that left little to the imagination (think thong bottoms and boobs barely covered) started parading around. They came into the jacuzzi which I know they’re entitled to do, however 2 sat next to him and 2 directly facing. It’s quite a big jacuzzi so they had no need to sit where they did. He was the only male in. He felt he had no option to leave as this made him feel quite uncomfortable. Now I may be unreasonable in my thinking but I do think if the shoe was on the other foot and a male was to strut around the poolside in a thong or a group of men where to sit in an empty jacuzzi in close proximity to a female complaints would be made.

Well I don’t know, tiny thong bikinis are fine in a holiday resort, but a health club is a different environment. The shop at the one I go to sells swimsuits, but not bikinis. Probably these girls were spa dayers and not actual members.

AntiHop · 20/02/2026 09:41

I agree with you op.

TimeForTeaAndG · 20/02/2026 09:42

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 09:39

They were just wondering around the poolside. Of course they weren’t doing anything wrong, and yes they were using the facilities, but I do think those type of bikinis are more suited to the beach.

Do you? Or would you be reaching for the smelling salts and declaring "won't somebody think of the children?!"

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 09:32

He did leave. His point is and I think it’s a valid one, the showers are facing the jacuzzi and rather than have a quick shower before entering they stood there rubbing they’re boobs then turned round and did the same with their arse. He let that go but it was fairly obvious from what he says, they knew what they were doing. Then when they came into the jacuzzi where there’s plenty of room and sit in very close proximity is what made him feel uncomfortable.

He seems to have been paying quite a bit of attention. The jacuzzi is round, right? Why didn't he swap position so he had his back to them?

They may well have intentionally wanted to make him uncomfortable so as to have thr jacuzzi to themselves. It's unlikely they were hoping for a 5some in the bubbles.

I think the difference of four men getting into a jacuzzi with a lone woman and choosing so sit nearer than necessary is about relative risk. Four guys are more likely to cause harm to a line female than the other way round.
I'd have done what your hubby did and leave though.
But if I was gonna sit and enjoy them washing in the shower, I probably wouldn't tell my hubby

Didshejustsaythatoutloud · 20/02/2026 09:42

I know this won't be a popular opinion on here but I don't think I know many men who would have removed themselves from that scenario.
However, I am amazed at the amount of ladies who go to public swimming pools wearing tiny thong bikinis 😮. I must confess to being a bit envious of their body confidence since those days, for me, are long gone😫

BudgetBuster · 20/02/2026 09:20

I think your husband needs to grow up... if he felt uncomfortable he could have left.

If they were sitting down, it's not like he could see their bare bum hanging out? Also, jacuzzis are generally small enough, where would he / you have like them to sit if not next to or across from him?

Jesus, two posts in and you haven't read the OP?

Generally speaking I am very much it is different when its the other way round, but a think a group of four women choosing skimpy bikinis and then choosing to sit close to a lone man, knew what they were doing.

somanychristmaslights · 20/02/2026 09:43

If a man turned up in a thong, everyone would be hysterically laughing.

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 09:44

Thatescalatedquickly2 · 20/02/2026 09:39

So you weren’t there OP?

if this was your husband’s version of events if sounds very weird.

and why feel the need to tell you?

unless he has been caught perving over women in the showers and is getting his story in first?…

I’ve been there and saw some of this behaviour.

The OP wasn't even there!

BlimeyOReillyO · 20/02/2026 09:45

@Scottishlassie10 when uou say parading around, can you describe how this is different to walking around?

EleanorReally · 20/02/2026 09:46

what did they do wrong
i bet they were glad he left

Mingspingpongball · 20/02/2026 09:46

“They knew what they were doing”…? So says your post.
What was that? Showering? As adults it’s not surprising they knew how to shower.
Or walk/parade.
So what did your husband think they were doing?

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 20/02/2026 09:46

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 09:34

They weren’t wearing swimsuits. These were very skimpy bikinis more akin to the beach.

And? It’s swimwear.

BlimeyOReillyO · 20/02/2026 09:46

Scottishlassie10 · 20/02/2026 09:44

I’ve been there and saw some of this behaviour.

So it’s happened more than once? Do you think they’ve got eyes for your DH?

Brightlittlecanary · 20/02/2026 09:47

What am I reading, your husband is some perv isn’t he. Couldn’t keep his eyes to himself and you are jealous as hell. Did he rush home to tell you? Thay they are rubbing themselves up, what he could see and just how close they were.

you know damn well they weren’t rubbing their breasts and arses. They are perfectly entitled to use the facilities and wear swimwear of their choice. If your husband can’t cope then it’s his issue.

Rooroobear · 20/02/2026 09:47

Oh here we go…..I’ve been there before I see these young women parading themselves and their bodies around my husband and he has to look away. Jeez 🙄

Shadeflower · 20/02/2026 09:48

Genuine question. Why do women wear skimpy bikinis, if it's not for attention? Please no one try and say they're more comfortable or practical 🤣

KatsPJs · 20/02/2026 09:49

Get a grip OP. Walking is not “parading” and I highly doubt a group of young women were so overcome with attraction for your husband that they were groping themselves for his benefit. What it actually sounds like is that your husband encountered a group of confident young women who are not prepared to let misogynistic men dictate how they should dress, how they should behave or where they should sit in public. Good on them.

BlimeyOReillyO · 20/02/2026 09:46

OP doesn't specify which behaviour, I'm choosing to read it as the perving of her husband mentioned in the post she replies to 😆

knew What they were doing?? They aren’t remotely interested in your husband, there is absolutely no way these young women were rubbing themselves up and dressing for your husbands attention. Get a grip of your jealousy and your husband needs to stop perving and rushing home to tell you all about it.

Of course not. I never said to happened more than once when he was there. I’ve seen them in micro bikinis when I’ve been there on my own.

How would it be inappropriate for a man to wear thing style swimmers?

They are swimming costumes... where else are they going to wear them?

As in Thing 1 & Thing 2? That would be weird 😂

Sorry...

KimberleyClark · 20/02/2026 09:49

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 20/02/2026 09:46

And? It’s swimwear.

I would say they are 10% swimwear and 90% sunbathing wear.

It’s a fashion choice.
