Made to feel uncomfortable

Now I’m all for people wearing what they want but I do think there is a time and a place. My husband was in the health club last night relaxing in the jacuzzi when a group of young women in their early 20s wearing bikinis that left little to the imagination (think thong bottoms and boobs barely covered) started parading around. They came into the jacuzzi which I know they’re entitled to do, however 2 sat next to him and 2 directly facing. It’s quite a big jacuzzi so they had no need to sit where they did. He was the only male in. He felt he had no option to leave as this made him feel quite uncomfortable. Now I may be unreasonable in my thinking but I do think if the shoe was on the other foot and a male was to strut around the poolside in a thong or a group of men where to sit in an empty jacuzzi in close proximity to a female complaints would be made.

Fuck knows at this point

As a previous poster said, it was just a vehicle for anti woman sentiment. It's possible OP didn't realise that's what they were doing, but it quite unquestionably is what they were doing.

rainbowsandraspberrygin · 20/02/2026 21:29

Because some posters think it’s ok for some women to wear thongs with their bum cheeks out and tiny triangle bikini tops when in a swimming pool with kids. They have chastised a child who said it was gross when she was faced with arses in her face. The posters who are supportive and promoting wearing this attire around children have no issue - so I’d like to know their reaction when it happens to them.

Nothing to do with the original issue

Apparently there's double standards or some such. The men feel intimidated and threatened by thongs and bum cheeks apparently and don't mention the parading and breast rubbing lest the poor op's dh has a flashback.

Poor man. Facing the full force of the Monstrous Regiment of Women.
He'll probably still go back and enjoy the jacuzzis, though.

Hijg · 20/02/2026 21:29

Why not have jacuzzis. One for men, one for women?

The thread is getting shut in about 20 comments' time. I don't have time to go into what's been happening lately with single sex spaces...

CurlyhairedAssassin · 20/02/2026 21:30

That’s what OP’s husband did. He didnt complain to a member of staff or mutter under his breath as he was leaving so that they could hear, huffing and puffing. And then he described his experience to his wife when he got home. He is allowed to do that. No drama. None of those women were made to feel ashamed by him.

He seemed to describe it all to the op? My dh would never speak about other women like that.

I do feel that the spirit of John Knox lives on in this thread 😂

Omg. I feel like I've wandered into a parallel universe where a bunch of MRAs are pretending to be feminists in order to discredit women and make us look stupid and infantile.

It's so weird how you all copy each other's phrases as well. And have to all respond to the same comments of mine, all in the same way.

It really is bizarre. GroupThink at its worst. There seems to be some performative political correctness going on.

He obviously got attacked by a parading, strutting bikini.

BoundaryGirl3939 · 20/02/2026 21:37

I know this won't go down well with people but those thong bikini's are too much. They may as well be naked. Its not fair on others who don't know where to look.

They really, really, really are not the same as being naked.

And if you don't want to look at them, you can look...anywhere else. Honestly, it's not difficult.

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 20/02/2026 21:20

Why is it creepy?

Okay, seeing as though you are such an expert on language why is it okay to feel attractive at a water park but creepy to feel sexy? What is the specific distinction between attractive and sexy? And why does location matter?

Perhaps you need to buy a dictionary.

Sexy implies feeling sexual or displaying sexuality Attractive is more of a general thing. and could just mean beautiful or pretty or even just charismatic, appealing etc

No-one should be wanting to feel sexy around children. That’s fucking weird.

I personally don't care. Women should be able to wear what they like without being shamed

KaleQueen · 20/02/2026 21:39

HighLadyofTheNightCourt · 20/02/2026 20:39

In your opinion…

Like I said, I don’t want my child calling women’s bodies gross. It obviously doesn’t bother you so crack on.

So - if your son has an opinion which you judge to be ‘problematic’ you will ‘correct’ him on that opinion? Correct?

Performative political correctness? Are you reading the same thread? Many posters have just disputed that bumcheeks in thongs equal nakedness and women are enticing nymphs, the complaint of the op's poor intimidated dh.

Would you feel the same if you were surrounded by a group of men with their arses out?
