To think Queen Elizabeth's legacy is going to be seriously harmed by this?

I mean I doubt he bounded into the palace shouting 'you'll never guess what I did last week'. He will massively have played down the extent of his friendship with Epstein and may even at times have lied about where he was when he was away. It seems his protection officers have some serious questions to answer around this. I doubt anyone in the RF had anything like the full picture. But QE stood by him and I can't see her coming out of this well.

Open the relevant files, let’s see what she knew and what she didn’t 🤷‍♀️

Many mothers will go the whole way to protect their children and can't see a thing wrong with their adult child's behaviour.
I don't feel it counts as being a paedophile - the females were over the age of consent in this country. Agree it is unpleasant and exploitative and very sad for the young people involved.

The ones we’ve heard about so far were over UK age of consent. However, the latest files describe covert flights through UK airports of girls on Epsteins plane, girls as young as 9 are mentioned, torture videos featuring Middle Eastern royalty. Virginia was the tip of the iceberg so it seems.

So someone that cannot be voted out is preferable to someone that can be?

It’s because of sheer accident of birth that King Andrew isn’t the unelected head of the British state.

You're right, America has the President and the head of state as the same person. They have Trump. I'd rather spread the risk but if you think that's a better system that's a valid opinion.

EdwinStarrTheBackStreetsNSoul · 19/02/2026 20:45

How many 40year old men hang about with 17yr olds.
It's the sexual shenanigans,it's the Trade Envoy stuff, possibly passing Govt documents.
He's a wrong un.
See the most recent photo he knows he's toast.

As much as I was to see these disgusting men locked away for life - I don't want to see it used as a reason to get rid of the monarchy as head of state. Who else could do it? Have an elected one and you'll have Nigel Farage or Rupert Lowe before you can blink.

lazy thinking.
Doreen Lawrence would be good, Floella Benjemin, Tanni Grey-Thompson all sit in the House of Lords and would be a great president.

Our Prime Minister is the executive of the country, the president needs merely to be a figurehead like in Ireland or Germany.

I for one hope this IS the beginning of the end. The quicker the better.

Yes, I do think it the better system. Would you be so keen on

A President is not only elected, but limited to 8 years in power.

Yes, it's unlikely that one day he just decided he wanted to be a creep, and then carried on living a perfectly moral life.

abitsadbuthappy · 19/02/2026 20:47

I think its quitting time for the RF. Lets wrap it up before things get even worse, they had a good run and can't complain.

FiatLuxAdAstra · 19/02/2026 20:48

The first inklings of the Epstein crimes started to leak out in 2008 when the Queen was 82yrs old and already in cognitive decline.

I don’t think she ever got a whiff of the truth. I am sure Charles and Anne decided not to tell her so she wouldn’t die on the spot from the shock.

Such a lazy reply 🙄

YANBU OP

The Queen had a responsibility to know exactly what she was bailing him out of.

And yes @Catza I'd say the same if the late Queen had a penis...

The Queen could have had a penis and still have been a woman.

Do people really think Her Majesty had access to less information than those who worked in Her Majesty’s Secret Service?!!

Londonrach1 · 19/02/2026 19:56

Yes. Ask any of the teenagers and young adults and you got your answer re the royal family.... My fil who is a firm royalist is now questioning it... however Trump in charge....what could be put in place instead......I miss the queen..the proper queen..queen Elizabeth as she was stable and been there so long but what she been hiding....

Stable? Did nothing but ruled, whatever that means. Lived a long life and was Queen for 70 years. A world that changed v.liitle for her but moved on outside the walls of Windsor. All she did was ensure the monarchy was going to continue.

what is wrong with you? they were girls.

She didn't check the books for Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs.Might have asked the odd question eg do we really need to pay taxes? Or has Andrew been behaving himself? Hardly likely the heads of MI5 and 6 or the Met Commissioner are coming round to inform her of impropriety.

Yes you’re right they wouldn’t. Instead they would have told her Private Secretary who would have told her what her son was up to and the compromising situation he had put himself and the family/institution in.

That's fair enough tbf and I'd be the same, but I'd know the price was my reputation and moral principles, which is a price I'd happily pay for my kid, but it's absolutely fair game for the criticism to follow particularly when you're part of the ruling elite who's family talk of service to the country and have been gifted a life of luxury from their subjects.

Well quite. She was a mother but also head of state. She had a duty to the country to at least make sure her kids were accountable. She didn't. She made sure Andrew didn't have to be accountable for anything he did. She was also Charles' mother, knew he would have to take over and has left him in the shit.

Yes absolutely. There is not a cats chance in hell that she could know everything that the entire secret service knew.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 19/02/2026 21:21

It's incredibly naive to think that the late Queen didn't know what he was up to. These people are followed 24/7 with security detail. There would have been tabs on him at all times.

I don't think that the RF have really cottoned on to how damaging all this is to them. You've got 2 spares who have behaved appalling but are still in the line of succession. The only way that Charles/William stand a prayer of protecting the Monarchy is to bounce these two entitled prats into the stratosphere and remove them publicly from any relationship with the RF. And fast.

TheMorgenmuffel · 19/02/2026 21:24

Theres absolutely no way the palace was not and is not fully aware of everything that goes on.

The country's got intelligence services, spies and all sorts and we're supposed to believe they don't know everything that's happening?

ElizaMulvil · 19/02/2026 21:28

Dad Philip and Andrew? You can see the problem. Whoever thought it a good idea marrying Princess Elizabeth into a family of Nazi sympathisers ie Philip's Aunt (member of the Nazi party, his sisters married to officers in the German Nazi army.) Mind you her Uncle, the brief King, was politically little better I guess.

Plus it was all round Fleet Street at the time of the Christine Keeler, Mandy R D scandal that Philip was involved but no one was to mention it. I expect the fact that his Will is to remain secret ( for 100 years is it? after his death), tells us there's lots of unsavoury business we've not to know about.

MidWayThruJanuary · 19/02/2026 21:33

@MrsLizzieDarcy
Do you really think what Harry has done equates to what Andrew has done?
What are your thoughts on that revered father figure - Louis Mountbatten, the serial child rapist? Or Charles defending the paedophile bishop Peter Ball? Or his relationship with Laurens van der Post - who fathered a child with a 14 year old?
Do you not think that Charles should be bounced into the stratosphere too?

MrsLizzieDarcy · 19/02/2026 21:37

In terms of damaging the RF reputation, yes Harry is little better.

Harry and Andrew have both bitten the hand that feeds them.

Yes but how much would “the palace” tell a doddering 82 yr old?
