Basically this, anyone else still get takeaway on a Friday evening after the long week? Getting a Chinese tonight. and I’m so excited.

Once a month. I'd love once a week.

FurForksSake · 09/01/2026 11:45

No, too expensive and too unhealthy for weekly. Monthly or ever other month probably. We might have one tomorrow but it’s been a good while since the last.

Hoppinggreen · 09/01/2026 11:45

Rarely get one.
We can afford it but they tend to be very disappointing and I can make better faster

DalekStarmer · 09/01/2026 11:46

No as im trying to be healthier due to my shocking blood results. Every now and again though I do and I always look forward to it. Feels more like a treat if it doesn’t happen often.

Dancingsquirrels · 09/01/2026 11:47

I occasionally have a takeaway, but it's more for speed and convenience when I can't be bothered to cook

I never think the food itself is a great treat

FurForksSake · 09/01/2026 11:48

yes, I should say we can afford but think they are expensive for the quality. We do make pizzas in our pizza oven or buy nice steaks or make our own burgers at home on a Saturday a couple of times a month. Sometimes I’ll make curry and make the effort to make a couple and a daal, naan and bhajis from scratch and we’ll have a curry feast. I don’t find Chinese easy to replicate at home sadly.

LostThestral · 09/01/2026 11:48

no but we usually go out for a pub dinner but i'm going to cut this down to every other Friday rather than every week for health reasons

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 09/01/2026 11:48

We've never had takeaways other than very occasionally. We had one in November but before that I can't remember, possibly 6 months earlier?

Larrythemonkey · 09/01/2026 11:48

For me the massive treat of a takeaway is not planning, shopping, cooking and clearing up. So we get one once a week on average.

Teenagerantruns · 09/01/2026 11:50

We either get a takeaway or eat out every week, we are by no means that well off, but its just the two of us. Probably couldn't afford it if we had kids at home.

redannie18 · 09/01/2026 11:50

Yes usually on a Friday night, I love not having to think about dinner! Its a nice time for us all to get together at the end of the week and we are lucky to live somewhere with a lot of choice so many options are not greasy unhealthy ones.

EmeraldShamrock000 · 09/01/2026 11:50

Yes. The food delivery business is far from dead, is thriving.
I would some people have a lot more than one, I’m vegetarian so the options aren’t great.

bostonchamps · 09/01/2026 11:51

We do! Just discussing the DH what we want. We have really good options though (we’re in a big city).

Yes this is my reasoning too! 🤣 although we have really good takeaways here! I cook from scratch every other day of the week so it’s a treat for so many reasons! 🙌

On here? They put mayo on their lettuce leaves as a treat. They don't eat it, just sniff it. We have takeaways randomly. Shopping this morning I was just thinking I'd love a Lamb Karahi, lentil daal, mushroom rice and Naan. Half one day and the next. My DP can't tolerate Indian food anymore, so I have to wait until I'm with one of my DD's.

ImFineItsAllFine · 09/01/2026 11:54

Yes, love a Friday takeaway! We reduced it down to once a fortnight a while back for cost/health reasons though. We don't buy lunches or go to restautants due to distance and small DC so it's our only food treat (and respite from meal prep)!

It's also the one evening meal DH and I don't eat with the kids, so its time for us together.

ThePoshUns · 09/01/2026 11:55

We occasionally get a take away on a Saturday but isn’t a regular thing for us.

moonlitmeadow · 09/01/2026 11:56

I don’t but I know people do even if they don’t admit it, I see them getting delivered regularly next door and across the road most evenings.

Purlant · 09/01/2026 11:59

Usually one mid week as it’s a quick convenient meal. Either sushi or Vietnamese (both I rarely make at home, so it feels like a treat). We are very lucky where we live and have access to some amazing restaurants.

FurForksSake · 09/01/2026 12:00

This will always descend into “people on here are teeny tiny people who have never eaten a crisp, I eat takeaways every week” vs “what’s a take away? Gosh, that sounds awful? Someone coming to your home and ringing your doorbell? With greasy food for you to gobble??”

meh. We have them sometimes, not regularly, might have one tomorrow. Might not bother.

Jellycatspyjamas · 09/01/2026 12:00

Yes, we’ll usually have a takeaway on a Friday night - an easy meal for the end of the week and a bit of a treat. It’s Indian tonight, really fancy a curry.

Giddykiddy · 09/01/2026 12:00

Used to - live rurally now - easier to cook and better for the waistline

Megifer · 09/01/2026 12:02

Yep! Either a KFC, McDs, Chinese or Indian on a Friday or Saturday every week 🙌

Fuckoffjanuary · 09/01/2026 12:02

Yes, but Saturday not Friday. If I order takeaway on Friday I'm sad that I have to cook on Saturday 😂 but we rarely eat out due to young/ND DC so this is our weekend treat.

troppibambini6 · 09/01/2026 12:04

Yes we do but we are having a no takeaway Jan. We were coming to reply too much on takeaways at the weekend it’s was costing us a fortune and is the healthiest.
I’m doing a roast tonight but I’m not going to lie a take out is much more appealing!
