Yip once a week here also , either Fri or Sat night 😊

Once a week, sometimes more. Takeaways don't have to be unhealthy, I get sushi and salads sometimes, not just chips.

sparrowhawkhere · 10/01/2026 18:35

There’s so many people who say it’s disappointing but we have two favourites that we alternate. We happily go for a walk and get a coffee at home, shop carefully, meal plan, use up leftovers etc to make sure we can have a takeaway at the weekend. For us it’s something to look forward to.

tuvamoodyson · 10/01/2026 18:37

Rarely have takeaways…

Sunshineofyourlove · 10/01/2026 18:47

We never do - very limited options and none particularly good.

Every friday we make pizza dough in the bread maker and the dc make their own pizzas, which is our equivalent.

I'd really love a decent Thai or Vietnamese takeaway tho.

Disturbia81 · 10/01/2026 18:50

I would love to if it didn’t put lbs on me and mess up my guts for two days 🤣 I love takeaways.

trainkeepsgoing · 10/01/2026 18:57

No, hardly ever now. Used to LOADS!

whatcanthematterbe81 · 10/01/2026 19:19

I did. Not unhealthy ones, normally Vietnamese or light Thai dishes (ok ok the odd curry or pizza 😂) but then I realised how much I was spending. Don’t care about the calories as I work out a lot and eat healthy 90% of the time, but my god the money sure adds up. Started doing fakeaways and as I love cooking this is fun. Trying to get as close to the takeaway flavour as possible. Last nights was Thai red curry and weeping tiger with jasmine rice.

No....it would have to be an occasion, or a celebration. Although 25 years ago when it was just us we used to get pizza every Friday and watch Robot Wars.....bliss!

jualgem · 10/01/2026 19:25

We get a large chicken shish kebab which is delish, we share it between the two of us, once a week. It’s actually pretty healthy- we don’t get bread with it, but loads of salad, and it’s just grilled chicken. We have a small handful of chips, and it has garlic mayo and chili sauce on it. It’s £13, so only £6.50 each, not too bad for a treat to not have to cook 😊

We used to but can't justify the prices any more. About once a month now.

PumpkinPie2016 · 10/01/2026 19:30

No - worries rarely have takeaway but we live rurally, so few places near enough. If we did order for delivery, it would probably need warming by the time it arrived and our house is not easy to find, so it always takes a lot of explaining to people.

Basically, just not worth it.

FelixDoublyDelicious · 10/01/2026 19:40

I would never get excited by a takeaway

Bluedenimdoglover · 10/01/2026 19:41

Nearest thing I get to a takeaway is cod and chips occasionally. Hate Chinese takeaway - fully if sugar, rather make mybown. Enjoy Indian food, but at a sit-down restaurant.

Iwantsandybeachesandgoodfood · 10/01/2026 19:45

I do, at least a week and usually also on a Friday because I’m exhausted from the week. They aren’t always terrible for you, we often buy meals that I could and do cook at home. We are time poor and I’m the only living decent cook in my family so I cook fresh, lovey food 6 days a week for 4-10 people depending on the day. Friday is when I don’t have to make the mental or physical effort. The cost is high but so is the cost of decent food.

AlPaccacino · 10/01/2026 20:35

My treat nowadays is to uber a delivery of the dine in deal from Waitrose. Still UHP, but it’s got to be better and cheaper than a takeaway. Nice lasagne with a salad and garlic bread with buffalo mozzarella tonight. Have the arancini starter for lunch tomorrow.

user1485851222 · 10/01/2026 20:55

Used to every Friday, now we live in a village, no takeaways 💔😪😢

Middleagedspreadisreal · 10/01/2026 21:17

Never have. Never have takeaways.

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 10/01/2026 21:38

Take away maybe once a month but Finders Crispy Pancake Friday most weeks once the kids are in bed. I wouldn’t feed them to my kids but we still like them. Sometimes have microwaved Chicago Town pizza and Pot Noodle if we’re feeling something different after a long week of healthy food.

Funnily enough I don’t think my kids would actually eat any of it if we gave it to them because they’re little snobs.

superchick · 10/01/2026 21:45

No. DD has allergies and I dont trust most places not to poison her plus its never as nice as I remember/imagine so I'm always disappointed. I'd rather eat out occasionally, that feels like a much bigger treat.

billiongulls · 10/01/2026 21:51

Every Friday, love it

Summerhut2025 · 10/01/2026 22:28

Yes every Friday, my partner treats me as I cook tea all through the week. Hate having to cook a Friday night I’m in chill mode then.

fetchacloth · 10/01/2026 22:34

I used to have a takeaway every Saturday night but stopped this about 6 months ago due to health reasons. Also they were becoming more expensive and shrinking in size.
To be honest I don't miss having them now.

Silverfoxette · 10/01/2026 23:15

We have one whenever it occurs to us to order one, maybe every 4-6 weeks. We’re out in the country so most of the restaurants won’t deliver here, we have to collect

Mydonkeyisred · 10/01/2026 23:43

We have a takeaway once a week but not always on a Friday. It normally a Tuesday when everyone will be home at the same time.
