If money was no object, would you live alone?

I love DP, but I also always loved living alone. We ended up living together because it makes economic sense, but having had this debate with a few female friends recently, almost all of us said we would actually prefer living alone and having two homes if money wasn’t an issue—even the married ones!

Plenty of research exists to show men are better off when living with women and women don’t benefit in the same way by living with men. Just interested in opinions. For me, it’s mostly about knowing the place will be beautiful, quiet, tidy, clean and that I can be alone if I want.

ive scrimped and saved but living alone has been worth it. i do get q bit lonely sometimes but i just go see friends and it’s fine. i could not be arsed with some horny messy smelly fucker cluttering up my tranquility! oh hell no.

Wolfpa · 18/12/2025 16:38

If I lived close enough to someone for a morning quickie I would.

DarkEyedSailor · 18/12/2025 16:38

I do live alone. With my daughter, but no man. It's perfect.

Mauro711 · 18/12/2025 16:38

I divorced then the kids grew up and now I live alone with my dog. Suits me perfectly and will never again live with a man.

TeeBee · 18/12/2025 16:39

I do live alone, so yes 😀 Partner living in the next village is perfect.

EmpressaurusKitty · 18/12/2025 16:39

It’s just me & my cat & I honestly wouldn’t have it any other way.

I have a busy social life but I love being able to close my front door & know it’s just us. No partners, no kids.

MrsSkylerWhite · 18/12/2025 16:40

No thanks. He may feel differently 🤣

CraftyPlayer · 18/12/2025 16:40

God yes.

WallaceinAnderland · 18/12/2025 16:41

No.

But I'd have a big house with two sitting rooms and separate bedroom and bathroom. Shared kitchen, dining, tv room, conservatory etc.

Chasingsquirrels · 18/12/2025 16:41

No, I prefer living with a partner.

Money is no object and I've been living as the sole adult with my 2 (now adult) dc since my DH died in 2017.
My DP of several years has recently moved in, now that both my dc are adults. Dc2 is still at home doing an apprenticeship but I discussed it with him first to make sure he was okay with DP moving in.

I said from the start that I wouldn't have another man live with them as children (late-Dh was their stepdad, so they'd also been through their parents split), but now they are adults I'm happy to live with DP.

Purlant · 18/12/2025 16:42

No way!!

Indianajet · 18/12/2025 16:42

I live alone with my dog - I hate it, but don't want anyone else to replace my late husband, so am stuck with it.

Holluschickie · 18/12/2025 16:42

Yes. But I am the messy one!

MinnieMountain · 18/12/2025 16:42

When my libido is playing ball, I like having sex with DH, so maybe if he lived a 10 minute walk away?

whyohwhyisitalwayswet · 18/12/2025 16:42

I live with my DC, queen of all I survey and I love it. Have a lovely DP but no intention of moving in!

Carandache18 · 18/12/2025 16:42

Love to.

Loub1987 · 18/12/2025 16:43

Depends on the person, I like a cuddle and just seeing DH at random points in the day and sharing the home together. So it’s a no from me.
