Why is there even a chance of any of these two remaining here in the UK? They had their chance and ended up doing what they did.

Or even deported? Ah just seen your edit!

Sarah2891 · 08/12/2025 20:29

Of course. Won't happen though.

CoastalCalm · 08/12/2025 20:30

The article says one has already been given deportation papers and the other has been recommended

Yep, I just think someone will put a stop to it. I hope I'm wrong.

Who do you think will put a stop to it?

Londb · 08/12/2025 20:35

The one who is 17 won't be deported.

They got 10 and 9 years detention, which is a substantial amou t of time. I'd rather they were locked up then deported. I don't want them free, regardless of where they are.

They are both 17?

Barbaramcnairyouregonnalovemybaby · 08/12/2025 20:38

Rancid little creatures not because of their ethnicity but for the ordeal they put that young girl through.
Serve their time then straight out of the country with them and definitely no legal wrangles for them to stay.

Bagsintheboot · 08/12/2025 20:38

Get your facts right OP.

One has been served with deportation papers.

The other has been recommended for deportation but due to age it was outside the judges remit to issue this and thus it has to be recommended to the govt.

Yawn? You don’t think rapists should be subject to criminal law?
would you tell the woman they raped that you’re bored by her rapists receiving justice?

HRTQueen · 08/12/2025 20:40

I am sure most will agree with you

but turn the subject around two young British men caught selling drugs in Vietnam should they faces the consequences in Vietnam (much tougher jails and many would feel that is what they deserve) or here in the UK (far from comfortable but certainly better conditions than Vietnam )

and shouldn’t Shamima Begum be able to serve her sentence here in the UK

Neodymium · 08/12/2025 20:41

I wouldn’t be surprised if they were older. They arrived with out documentation and had their age assessed. Bone age assessments are not very reliable. My older son had his checked at age 7 because the Dr was concerned about his growth and it showed him being 5. We haven’t had it checked again, but I’d guess if he was assessed now at almost 17 it would show 14 or 15.

Totally agree with all this.

That poor, poor young victim. 😢

I don't believe they do tests like bone density or teeth examinations to determine age, or has this changed? Or I'm wrong. I heard age was determined by some sort of social worker just questioning them.

Correct, they don't. Age assessments are done by social workers (with specific training) and are based on interviews. It's not an exact science obviously, but testing of physical features isn't reliable at all, especially as build, weight, facial hair etc vary across races and in relation to upbringing (nutrition etc)

Its a shame we can't deport people who rage bait and can't/won't read though...

Thing is, questioning them sounds like an even less reliable method of determining age.

And the British men who do this? Do we welcome them back to society because "they have served their sentence?". Or do we deport them too? If so, to where? If not, why?

the problem is not what you think. It's not immigration, it's some men in general. It's some men, and some men only.

But how does anyone differentiate dangerous men from non dangerous men? Beats me

We can’t deport British citizens, as much as we might like to sometimes. We’re stuck with them. No choice. But when rapists happen to not be British citizens, there’s nothing wrong with saying they should be deported.

You certainly read a lot into a yawn. They have already been sentenced to prison and will mostly certainly be deported when they are released from prison. Who is saying that should not happen?
