Hairdresser won't accept fault

neveragainmilly · 18/10/2025 13:29

I've shown her my hair and how the cut looks like indepdent layers. Everything was just fine to her and this is how layers are supposed to be....

I called her this morning and she didn't even need to know my name. It was like she knew it was bad. She didn't ask for photos or ask me to come up, just said that's how layers are.

Even when I went in for a refund than she didn't want to see my hair, I suggested it. I showed her how it looks like layers and not blended, choppy.

It was a local place. Silly me. Thought a hair cut is easy.

She also said my highlights needed redoing .. weird...

That is bad!

ComfortFoodCafe · 18/10/2025 13:30

God thats awful.

dementedpixie · 18/10/2025 13:31

It looks bloody awful. I cut my dds hair better than that and I'm not a hairdresser

BinNightTonight · 18/10/2025 13:31

Yeah, I wouldnt be happy with that. Can another hairdresser touch it up for you by cutting a bit more off?

Titasaducksarse · 18/10/2025 13:31

In my opinion that's an awful cut.

HardyWeinbergEquation · 18/10/2025 13:31

It's awful!

rubyslippers · 18/10/2025 13:31

That is absolutely dreadful
1000% go back to the salon and speak face to face

Pippa12 · 18/10/2025 13:32

Gosh- that’s terrible. I feel for you!

Dearg · 18/10/2025 13:32

It doesn’t look great, like you I would expect the layers to blend better.

But a decent hair cut is not easy, and you are undervaluing the good cutters out there by saying that.

Rumpledandcrumpled · 18/10/2025 13:35

I would go to another salon and have the layers blended in, it does look really bad op. I’m sorry, it looks like you did it yourself with rhe kitchen scissors. I’d not let them touch it again,

What?

It's a basic length layer.... Why would it be hard to do? I expect no one is going to do the same cut but this is really sloppy. I don't have curly hair which isn't easy to cut.

RayKray · 18/10/2025 13:35

That is bad. But no a haircut isn’t easy, as you’ve found out.

pIum · 18/10/2025 13:35

No, even for a local hairdressers that's not close to good enough. They should definitely be refunding. A decent hairdresser should be able to tidy it up quickly at least.

Huh? That’s literally their job that she has paid for. They are expected to be able to do it, not say it’s too hard. The op is clearly saying she thought it was easy for her to go and get a decent cut, but now it’s a huge thing.

RhiWrites · 18/10/2025 13:38

Post this on google reviews saying only “this hairdresser said this is fine and how layers are supposed to be”.

Exactly.

Isn't that they they get trained....

raininginlanzarote · 18/10/2025 13:38

I had exactly the same a couple of years ago, I was told ‘that’s what layering is’ and apparently I should have asked for blending. Never heard of that before! I got a refund. Never been back.

Yes I’m stunned folks are saying oh well it’s not easy. I mean that’s their bloody jobs.

Well I don't know what to do.

I got my money back easily but also yes.

Decent layers should be easy enough for any trained hair dresser, that’s their job.

WaltzingWaters · 18/10/2025 13:44

I cut my toddler son’s hair better than that and I’ve no idea what I’m doing - plus the added fact he’s a toddler swinging his head around. You should definitely get a refund so you can then go elsewhere to get it fixed.

Yes it's a hair cut. I didn't ask for anything unusual imo. Basic bbitch haircut lol.

Also hair coloring I find varies from stylist and more of an art

Which is why the OP paid for a professional to cut it so it wouldn't look awful!

The whole point of a professional is that they are trained so you are paying for their expertise.

@ go back and kick up a fuss and tell them to sort it out or refund!!

toomuchfaff · 18/10/2025 13:46

If she stands by the cut, put a review on her Google page with pictures. If she is happy with it, she should be happy with her future customers seeing it.

This! If it’s not easy for you then you’re in the wrong job… or a trainee.

I’ve had a few dodgy highlights over the years and hairdressers rarely accept any fault with excuses like my hormones or something I have done to affect it. I’d say go in and ask her to redo it for free. If not post a review online and go somewhere else. Annoying as it is, you just have to accept it if they’re being like that.
