Hairdresser won't accept fault

neveragainmilly · 18/10/2025 13:29

I've shown her my hair and how the cut looks like indepdent layers. Everything was just fine to her and this is how layers are supposed to be....

I called her this morning and she didn't even need to know my name. It was like she knew it was bad. She didn't ask for photos or ask me to come up, just said that's how layers are.

Even when I went in for a refund than she didn't want to see my hair, I suggested it. I showed her how it looks like layers and not blended, choppy.

It was a local place. Silly me. Thought a hair cut is easy.

She also said my highlights needed redoing .. weird...

But the hairdresser has refunded the OP so is it really fair to try and damage her business with a bad review anyway? If the hairdresser thought it was fine she wouldn’t have refunded

If that’s how she’s cutting hair then she deserves the bad review. I would want to avoid that salon, reviews aren’t just there to point out good stuff!

What meal?

I've got a shit embarrassing hair cut until it gets fixed

It's a saying. Making a meal out of something means turning something minor into something major. A mountain out of a molehill.

Again...what was it you were looking for? Compensation?

Cucy · 18/10/2025 15:04

OP we can all agree with you that the hair cut is not good.

We can all agree with you that you’ve wasted your time having it done, having to get a refund and now potentially having it correctly.

But you’re being dramatic.
It’s unfortunate but it’s done and you’ve got your money back.

You can choose to either spend time getting it fixed or wait a couple weeks for it to grow. Apart from making that decision it doesn’t really need any more thought given to it.

Viviennemary · 18/10/2025 15:05

It doesnt look good. Grow it out and don't go back. I've had a few bad experiences but not for a very long time. Hairdressers never admit they're in the wrong.

OMG Name and Shame ...

Post this on google reviews saying only “this hairdresser said this is fine and how layers are supposed to be”.

I think you need to do this. Apart from them not taking accountability, you should genuinely do it to warn others so they don't go and receive the same 'service'. I would thank you for that.

I mean it’s not great and I wouldn’t be happy but honestly OP, no one else will really notice? No one is going to look at you and think ‘omg that’s a shit hair cut’. They aren’t going to look at you and think ‘what a great haircut’ but they aren’t going to think you’ve come out looking like Elton John or anything.

im absolutely baffled by you thinking it’s permanent though. Unless you don’t know what permanent means? Can you explain why your hair won’t grow back? I cannot work this out.

Getting hair cut is permanent. It will grow but that cut is permanent. I can't do anything but wait.

It's like saying a punch isn't permanent. Your nose will fix itself.

You’ve got your money back. What happens next is all your choice

  • post a review or don't
  • get it cut again or don’t
  • tie it up or don't
  • move on with your life or don’t.

neveragainmilly · 18/10/2025 15:11

This was my hair last month.

Yes I did ask for a good few inches to be chopped of but not to the extent of having another chop to get or right .

The hairdresser should realise she has given you a bad haircut and also how a bad review could affect her business

The cut isn’t permanent, it will look different in a week, and different again in a month, and nothing like it in a year. If you have it cut again it will be even quicker.

It’s something that happened, it’s not permanent

Why are you going on about it?

I don't understand.

It's about the hairdresser not accepting family

Strange assumption, and one which couldn’t be further from the truth.

The bottom line is you’re in control of what happens next. You can’t roll time back, the only thing you can do is decide what you want to do next.

So write a review.

What I’m ’on about’ is that you seem insistent that a haircut is permanent. Unless you have a wig, it’s not, your hair will grow.

Dita73 · 18/10/2025 15:17

The exact same thing happened to my daughter last week. She wanted a few layers but she looked like she’d had a fight with a lawnmower. It was awkward as the hairdresser is a friend. In the end we just went to another salon and they did a great job

Well yes I would say that? I broke my arm last year and it was annoying and slow to heal but it healed. It is not a permanent disability.

Kindly, this haircut is very annoying but it isn’t actually a big deal? I would class this as a minor irritation if it happened to me. Just tie it back and let it grow.

I don’t think permanent means what you think it means op. Permanent means forever. No hair cut is permanenant as the hair grows. Hence why I asked if it was a wig, it is the only way it could be permanent.

I also don’t understand what you want or why you’re making such a meal of this, are you wanting compensation or something?

spoonbillstretford · 18/10/2025 15:21

I wouldn't trust them to redo my hair. Some hairdressers can't cut hair for toffee. I'd go somewhere else and leave a review with a photo for the place that made that mess.

Rumpledandcrumpled · 18/10/2025 15:21

Op this is the definition of permanent.

existing perpetually; everlasting, especially without significant change

do you understand why you’re using the wrong word and why a hair cut cannot be permanent, ever, as the hair grows and it is thus significantly changed. Only a wig can have a permanent cut,

amber763 · 18/10/2025 15:23

You've not answered people asking what it is you want. She's refunded. You were rude to the previous poster who pointed out what happens now is up to you.

Yes it is forever. You can't get back that hair that's been cut from my head 24 hours ago. A hair cut is permanent. It doesn't mean that it won't grow back, but the hair cut is a permanent change.

If you have virgin hair and dye it, it's a permanent change of colour because that colour isn't going to wash our (even semi doesn't wash out).

Having your hair bleached is also permanent. The natural hair has been permanently changed. Doesn't mean the new hair that grows will be bleached, just the existing hair has been permanently changed.

But she has. She has refunded. If she wasn't admitting fault she wouldn't have refunded.

Now what? You keep avoiding this question...what do you want to happen next?

You day 'invalidating childhood'...I say pragmatism. Stoicism. Perspective.

Go back to the original post.

She's not accepting anything is wrong with the cut.
