Hairdresser won't accept fault

neveragainmilly · 18/10/2025 13:29

I've shown her my hair and how the cut looks like indepdent layers. Everything was just fine to her and this is how layers are supposed to be....

I called her this morning and she didn't even need to know my name. It was like she knew it was bad. She didn't ask for photos or ask me to come up, just said that's how layers are.

Even when I went in for a refund than she didn't want to see my hair, I suggested it. I showed her how it looks like layers and not blended, choppy.

It was a local place. Silly me. Thought a hair cut is easy.

She also said my highlights needed redoing .. weird...

It's a bad job, but an easy fix. Can you go somewhere for a dry cut in your lunch hour? It'll only take 5 minutes to blend those layers.

Rumpledandcrumpled · 18/10/2025 14:40

I’m a little confused also op, she’s refunded you, just go elsewhere when you have the time to get it blended in, I also am unsure what you’re looking for now.

neveragainmilly · 18/10/2025 14:38

She has permanent ruined it, the hair won't go back to the same length if wS yesterday.

What? Is it a wig?

Devilsmommy · 18/10/2025 14:43

I saw your first post this morning and it really is shocking that she's had the temerity to say it's not bad and then the cheek of making out like you letting them do your highlights would make it better🤔 have they got a website? If yes then show a picture and leave the most scathing review you can. I bet they'd lose a shit load of business if people actually saw what their competency with hair cutting is😂

RayKray · 18/10/2025 13:35

That is bad. But no a haircut isn’t easy, as you’ve found out.

What are you talking about? It should be easy for a qualified hairdresser! It's their job!

AelinAG · 18/10/2025 14:47

It is awful, I’m sorry OP. I’d suggest looking up a tutorial of how to do a butterfly cut on yourself, that is probably about the best you can do to improve it if you can’t go to another hairdresser

Oldraver · 18/10/2025 14:47

I've done better myself using the MN haircut method

amber763 · 18/10/2025 14:48

Dearg · 18/10/2025 13:32

It doesn’t look great, like you I would expect the layers to blend better.

But a decent hair cut is not easy, and you are undervaluing the good cutters out there by saying that.

You too! What are you talking about? They are trained to cut hair!

Bigearringsbigsmile · 18/10/2025 14:49

She's refunded you. Let it go. Find another hairdressers and fet it redone.

Cucy · 18/10/2025 14:50

neveragainmilly · 18/10/2025 14:38

She has permanent ruined it, the hair won't go back to the same length if wS yesterday.

If it’s your real hair then it will grow.

Therefore it’s not permanent.

If it’s a wig, then she should cover the cost of a new one or offer to restyle it for free.

ThatNaiceMember · 18/10/2025 14:50

Even I think that's bad and I let my husband or my kids cut my hair 🤣

amber763 · 18/10/2025 14:52

She hasn't permanently ruined it. Its a bad cut but your hair will grow back.

Noshadelamp · 18/10/2025 14:52

neveragainmilly · 18/10/2025 14:07

Because they won't be able to blend in the layers without chopping of more of the length, and even then the shortest layers will be too short for my liking.

Also what to say the hairdresser will make a good job?

A good hairdresser will absolutely be able to fix this without taking off overall length.

It looks like the hairdresser took too big sections with blunt scissors and didn't angle the scissors correctly (which is why it sticks out).

So it will only require millimetres off the internal layers, although it looks like they're not actually even so maybe a little bit more to even it out.

Then some blending using only the tips of the scissors so again not losing noticeable length.

Travel and getting my hair done will take more than 45 mins...

It just needs a blunt cut of a few inches now. It wouldn’t take long for someone who knows what they are doing.

I had my hair layered once by a hairdresser who used a razor for the whole thing instead of a pair of scissors. It was really awful. I went straight to another hairdresser who cut all
the layers off and then it looked like a bowl but slightly better than the layers.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 18/10/2025 14:56

neveragainmilly · 18/10/2025 13:52

Well the hair she cut off won't grow back, I've wasted time getting my hair cut (had 1/2 day at work), mental energy having to deal with the conflict.....

"Mental energy dealing with conflict" 😂🤦‍♂️

Ok.

Anyway. She's refunded. Hair will grow. You can use the money refunded to get it neatened up.

What other outcome were you looking for? Compo?!

I had my hair cut, now I have to spend time dealing with the original hairdresser, having a bad hair cut, getting another hairdresser, dealing with it again, having hair that's too short to be tired to etc...

Yes you know most people don't like conflict..... Or a shitty hair cut

housethatbuiltme · 18/10/2025 14:58

Im not a hair dresser and simply cut my hair at home so take my advice as you want but I would suggest getting some feathering sheers and going over the choppy bits. You hair looks nice and thick so thinning the ends might help it blend in a bit better... then avoid that hairdresser again.

neveragainmilly · 18/10/2025 14:58

This is also the side.

Yes, but honestly you are making a right meal out of this. What are you looking for?

Even if trimmed up to the shortest layer it could still be tied back. It is a dodgy hair cut. That's it. No drama, nothing unusual. Everyone has them at some point or another, you chalk it up to experience and don't go there again.

"Time dealing with the original hairdresser"...it's done! Dealt with, refunded. Move on!

I think the point is that a simple layered haircut should indeed be "easy" for ANY hairdresser given their job is literally to cut hair. Not that it is easy for the average person on the street (although I agree even they could do better than that photo!)

Op wasn't asking for anything extremely technical or specialised that you'd only expect from someone with 20 years at a top salon. If you can't cut basic layers then you shouldn't be a hairdresser.

ZXZXZ6789 · 18/10/2025 15:02

Get a mobile hairdresser round

Allthatwegotisthispalebluedot · 18/10/2025 15:02

I mean it’s not great and I wouldn’t be happy but honestly OP, no one else will really notice? No one is going to look at you and think ‘omg that’s a shit hair cut’. They aren’t going to look at you and think ‘what a great haircut’ but they aren’t going to think you’ve come out looking like Elton John or anything.

im absolutely baffled by you thinking it’s permanent though. Unless you don’t know what permanent means? Can you explain why your hair won’t grow back? I cannot work this out.

stichguru · 18/10/2025 15:03

Is it bad that I am wondering if a rabbit nibbled your hair? That's awful!!
