Hairdresser won't accept fault

I've shown her my hair and how the cut looks like indepdent layers. Everything was just fine to her and this is how layers are supposed to be....

I called her this morning and she didn't even need to know my name. It was like she knew it was bad. She didn't ask for photos or ask me to come up, just said that's how layers are.

Even when I went in for a refund than she didn't want to see my hair, I suggested it. I showed her how it looks like layers and not blended, choppy.

It was a local place. Silly me. Thought a hair cut is easy.

She also said my highlights needed redoing .. weird...

Well I don't know what to do.

I got my money back easily but also yes.

You did actually get a refund then?

neveragainmilly · 18/10/2025 13:49

themerchentofvenus · 18/10/2025 13:45

Which is why the OP paid for a professional to cut it so it wouldn't look awful!

The whole point of a professional is that they are trained so you are paying for their expertise.

@ go back and kick up a fuss and tell them to sort it out or refund!!

She's refunded

It looks like they've cut each layer as a separate level on your hair as they've done the basic outline rather than taking vertical sections away from the head. Or put it in a ponytail and chopped it!

Go to a different hairdresser (look for one with lots of long hair after pics in their photos) and they should be able to blend it a bit but it might take a while to be fully fixed if you don't want to lose too much length. I fixed a friend's hair after a shit layering job and it took months and months waiting for it to grow out and blending in what I could.

She's refunded

So what’s the issue? Or is the problem resolved now?

YouMightLikeCats · 18/10/2025 13:50

I would say if she's refunded you then on some level she acknowledges it's not what you asked for!
But obviously you won't be going back...

Well the hair she cut off won't grow back, I've wasted time getting my hair cut (had 1/2 day at work), mental energy having to deal with the conflict.....

Thank you. Why is it so choppy, it just sticks out regardless of how much I straighten

That's how I imagine a 5 year old's Barbie would look like after they used a pair of children's craft scissors when Mum's back was turned..

TheOGCCL · 18/10/2025 13:55

I don’t understand how this business is surviving as this must be a common ask and it’s just been hacked at.

Shayisgreat · 18/10/2025 13:57

RhiWrites · 18/10/2025 13:38

Post this on google reviews saying only “this hairdresser said this is fine and how layers are supposed to be”.

Yeah, this is the best option I think.

That cut is awful and I wouldn't have been happy either.

But the hairdresser has refunded the OP so is it really fair to try and damage her business with a bad review anyway? If the hairdresser thought it was fine she wouldn’t have refunded

Apologise and not gaslight the OP by saying that this is what layering should look like!

GinaDav · 18/10/2025 14:02

Any hairdresser who thinks this is how layers are supposed to
look must have something wrong with their eyes. Thus is really not good. God knows what she was trying to do but it looks like she doesn’t have a clue how to blend layers and has just chopped it to buggery. Sorry, I know you got a refund but seriously this picture needs to be posted on Google reviews with a message saying that she says this is how layers are supposed to look before she ruins anyone else’s hair. This is definitely 100% NOT how layers are supposed to look.

Go to another hair dresser, it can be easily rectified

Not do it in the first place?

Footloosefiona · 18/10/2025 14:04

What the hell is that supposed to be?

I can do a better job on my privet hedge with garden shears !

Bunnylove19 · 18/10/2025 14:06

She’s ruined what was beautiful hair , I’m
sorry. Can you have it cut above the mess she has made with another salon? Thankfully it will grow back but not the point x

ToKittyornottoKitty · 18/10/2025 14:06

neveragainmilly · 18/10/2025 14:03

Not do it in the first place?

Have you ever come across anyone that can turn back time?

Why not use the refund to get another hairdresser to blend in the layers?

menopausalfart · 18/10/2025 14:07

Did she use a chainsaw?

ToKittyornottoKitty · 18/10/2025 14:06

Because they won't be able to blend in the layers without chopping of more of the length, and even then the shortest layers will be too short for my liking.

Also what to say the hairdresser will make a good job?

So you have no problems with her making the same mess out of any other unsuspecting paying customers hair? You don’t think people should at least have the opportunity to see the mess she’s making of peoples hair? This isn’t about the refund. Anyone ruining people hair like this is incompetent. It needs calling out to save other people having their hair ruined by someone who clearly doesn’t have a clue what they are doing.

Yes one other hairdresser has 300 reviews and about half a dozen where they've chemically damaged hair... Very useful reviews
