Hairdresser won't accept fault

I've shown her my hair and how the cut looks like indepdent layers. Everything was just fine to her and this is how layers are supposed to be....

I called her this morning and she didn't even need to know my name. It was like she knew it was bad. She didn't ask for photos or ask me to come up, just said that's how layers are.

Even when I went in for a refund than she didn't want to see my hair, I suggested it. I showed her how it looks like layers and not blended, choppy.

It was a local place. Silly me. Thought a hair cut is easy.

She also said my highlights needed redoing .. weird...

Go back to the original post.

She's not accepting anything is wrong with the cut.

But she’s refunded you. What exactly do you want.?

Ok now you’re being disingenuous. What do you want from the hairdresser?

snoffle · 18/10/2025 15:27

The hairdresser has to be lying: she knows it's bad, we all know she knows it's bad, and it's so annoying when people don't have the character to say, "I messed it up, I'm sorry". It's not just about the refund (although of course that matters).

I cut mine own layers, they really aren't that hard if you are paying attention. Looks like the hairdresser is either completely incompetent, or didn't care about what she was doing.

mamaison · 18/10/2025 15:28

What difference would that make though? Do you just want her to say the words? She's refunded you. If she thought the cut was okay she wouldn't have done this. Despite what you seem to think, it's not permanent (neither are punches to the face or broken bones). Get it fixed when you have the time. Find a local hairdresser who does home cuts and comes to you then you won't need to travel or pop it in a ponytail till you have the time. I get it's disappointing and upsetting for you. I'd be upset too but her saying "it's a bad cut" won't change anything.

Permanent: "lasting or intended to last or remain unchanged indefinitely".

I'm not even sure this is worthy of a second thread tbh.

Cut of an inche and it's permanently cut. What don't you understand

I've no idea what this is all about now, I and other PP's have suggested you get a mobile hairdresser to come to the house and blend the layers in as you can't afford time off work, this will make it look better. My DD had a similar issue.and another hairdresser fixed her hair in very little time

The hairdresser has by default admitted her mistake as she's given you a refund,

That's what I'm thinking and thank you for staying on topic.

I find it so weird but maybe her skills haven't improved in years.

I wouldn't trust them to redo my hair. Some hairdressers can't cut hair for toffee. I'd go somewhere else and leave a review with a photo for the place that made that mess.

Edited

Yes I'm in two minds. I wonder if I just add a photo and not write anything.

Why not say "I'm sorry" instead of argue with me? Or "I know what you mean"?

It’s agreed that it’s not a good cut, no question.
It’s also a fact that she refunded you the cost of the cut, so even if she doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with it, you have your money back. Although, I think the fact that she refunded so quickly means that she’s not as confident that it was fine, as she has said.

People understandably hate a bad haircut. It makes us feel vulnerable and perhaps open to being laughed at, so I get why OP is upset. Now though, the decision is what to do about it.

You can leave a poor review or no review.
You can source another salon and ask them to try to fix it, accepting that it will probably mean more cutting to improve the shape.
You can source a mobile hairdresser, to come to your home in the evening if time is tight.
You can wear a pony tail or tie it back for several weeks until it grows.
You can leave it as is.

I’d be looking to get it improved, accepting that it may mean having it shorter for a while.

Cachall · 18/10/2025 15:41

Big girl pants, OP - it will grow back!

Hi I don't have issues with people thinking they will laugh at me.

It's more that I was looking forward to having it cut and now I've got to deal with the disappointment and seek out another cut.

I'm not arguing with you. I and other PP's have made suggestions so that you can get someone to come and fix your hair. It's not going to change how upset and disappointed you feel and what you have suffered but you may feel better if your hair looks better.

Cucy · 18/10/2025 15:52

It’s not permanent.

You’re not making sense.

You asked for her to cut your hair - whether she did it well or not, you were the one to ask for parts of your hair to be cut off.

So why are you pretending to care that you can’t get that hair back now?

Your hair will regrow like it always does.
Just like our skin cells, its natural for shedding and regrowing.

You sound unwell.

Cutting someone's hair is permanent. You can't reattach if.

Hair should go back to the same length, but it's not a given.

It's a permanent change but doesn't mean it's static.

You are adding the fact that hair grows, and confusing that with the action of hair being cut.

You aren't making sense.

Please see my before and after.

MandyAndLola · 18/10/2025 15:57

Hair grows, it is not a permanent change. People have explained this and you refuse to accept it. You got your money back. Leave a bad review if it brings you peace, but it won’t change the facts. Despite the terrible haircut I’m starting to feel sympathy with the hairdresser.

Bournetilly · 18/10/2025 15:57

Definitely leave a bad review, just add onto the review you received a refund but have still wasted your time etc. It will put people off.

There’s not much more you can do unfortunately. She should really of offered to put it right but I doubt you want her touching your hair again anyway.

😅 You're wasting your time I think! The OP is never going to understand or accept that a haircut is not permanent 😂😂

The act of cutting of a few inches of hair is a permanent act.

The act of hair growing means hair grows.

The hair won't reattach. It's a permanent act

OP posts:
MandyAndLola · 18/10/2025 16:05

The hair cannot be reattached, but the hairstyle is not permanent. It will change as your hair grows. Just as a colour adapts based on how one cares for it. It is not a permanent change, and you refuse to listen to reason, that much is clear from your post. Goodness knows what the poor hairdresser had to listen to here.
