M&S quality so poor now

Bought some plain multipack knickers that I’ve previously had and my fingers have gone straight through the fabric putting them on.

I don’t think it’s ever happened before even with old cheap ones. What the heck is going on with their quality control? Didn’t it used to be their USP?

Well if this is the quality they’re offering they can keep their new target market.

Funny though.

M&S knickers are absolutely terrible. They get holes and tears in them within weeks. Such poor quality material and stitching.

I bought an M&S jumper last winter. It literally came unstitched the full length of the arm.
Been buying from them for years, never had that happen before.

Couldn't be arsed to take it back so restitched it myself.
Disappointing.......

beccahamlet · 15/08/2025 03:11

Where's the best place to buy decent knickers from then?

Assssofspades · 15/08/2025 03:21

I've had a couple of tops recently that have bobbled after a second wash, rubbish.

Sainsbury's are reasonably good.

maldivemoment · 15/08/2025 04:38

This was a real surprise to me but I would recommend Peacocks for decent knickers. Who knew?!
Their seam free ones ( 3 pack) are excellent.

Not really. they have men's fitting rooms and fitting rooms that anyone can identify in to.

Bikergran · 15/08/2025 05:27

I thought their clothes quality went off years ago. No better quality than any big supermarket clothing brand at 3-4 times the price.

It literally isn't. Haven't you seen the threads on here in the past about the reviews?

OP I switched from M&S to - believe it or not - Asda for mine a number of years ago. . Literally the same design, multipacks of black and white wuth lace round the top, very good quality and half the price.

John Lewis does nice multipacks.

If you go on their website a lot of the reviews for the women’s underwear is quite clearly men with a fetish getting their kicks.

I find Peacock's clothes very good quality.

Can’t go wrong with Sloggi. I’m not one for buying brands or overpaying but they just last forever. Great quality.
Or Amazon wirarpa brand. Or Costco.

I naively thought M&S would have sorted this out by now, but just had a quick look and yes, they are still there.

Wirarpa from Amazon are amazing, lovely material and very long lasting. I have to size up though.

I tried out a few from each of these brands recently. Boody - very good quality fabric and stitching, super comfy, wash well. Skims - very soft and stretchy, but a bit too thin and synthetic feeling for me. Stripe and Stare- lovely soft fabric, comfy, but I feel they won’t last long. Organic Basics - beautiful, soft, stretchy, super comfy, wash well.
I gave up on Marks last year, I bought my usual ones, and when I compared them to some older ones at home, they were so different. Thinner fabric, gusset in the wrong place, finishing all wrong. They have lost the plot.

landlordhell · 15/08/2025 06:43

They sent my teen daughter into what was previously the men’s changing room with bras to try. I asked for the women’s changing area and was told it’s unisex now. When I complained a manager came out and basically tried to label me as the one with the problem.
