So all of my family are going to Oasis for my mums but I couldn’t go due to childcare, I would feel so bad as a parent leaving one of my children out and would probably not go myself. Maybe I am just being selfish and bitter because I am jealous.

you’d want your family to miss out on something because you can’t go
You’ve said you’re jealous - not a nice emotion

Rubyshoes12 · 16/07/2025 11:11

Asssuming you and your mum are adults, you’re obviously being unreasonable

Noshadelamp · 16/07/2025 11:11

Your mum probably thinks you wouldn't want her to miss out just because you can't go.

I just feel a bit rubbish that all of my family are out doing something and I can’t be there

I’ve missed out on all sorts due to having children- concerts, family events- even my mums wedding as she chose to go to vegas when I had a 6 week old. It’s just one of those things. My husband and I actually do a lot of things solo due to childcare. I remember we took turns of going to the cinema one day so we could each get a chance to see a new release. I don’t think I would expect anyone to miss a concert for me- especially something as big as the Oasis one.

Greenbird88 · 16/07/2025 11:12

Yes, you’re selfish and bitter. Grow up and be happy for your mum enjoying her birthday doing something she’ll presumably enjoy.

Zempy · 16/07/2025 11:13

Why don’t you have any childcare?

Guinesss · 16/07/2025 11:14

Because all of my childcare will be going. Yes I’ll suck it up, ex h is also going so he couldn’t have them. It is what it is.

Why can’t you use a babysitter?

Isittimeformynapyet · 16/07/2025 11:15

Are you talking about the band Oasis or an indoor water park type thing?

Yabu, you can’t seriously expect your family to miss out in seeing Oasis because you can’t go.

SeaShellsSanctuary1 · 16/07/2025 11:16

Stop crying your heart out, roll with it and don't look back in anger

I wouldn’t even know how to get one, it is too late now anyway

That's rubbish for you @Guinesss I would feel miserable too, even though logically I would know they shouldn't just not go because of me. Sometimes it sucks

There are babysitter apps, or if your Dc goes to nursery often the staff there do babysitting, or Facebook community pages with babysitter adverts. It’s very easy to get one and once you find one you trust and is good then you can reuse for future events too.

Isittimeformynapyet · 16/07/2025 11:18

How long have you had to sort something out?

champagnetrial · 16/07/2025 11:18

Please don't put your life in the hands of a rock 'n' roll band. You have your lovely children who are your family. So it's not all your family out doing something. Anyway, you guys might find a better place to play.

When everybody was getting the tickets I wasn’t even considered as I wouldn’t have childcare

It’s one of the things you sacrifice when you have kids and can’t get childcare. Yanbu to feel sad sometimes about it but you’d be really unreasonable to begrudge your mum having fun!!
