To think the US was right to bomb Iran? What am I missing?

I am no fan of Trump. I’m very much left wing.

But am I missing something here? Why has everyone become such huge supporters of Iran? The world is a safer place as a result of removing their capability to develop nuclear weapons? Why is everyone carrying on like Iran is a victim and they were truly just trying to implement peaceful nuclear capabilities? Has everyone lost the plot?

So is Trump bombing all nuclear weapons depots? Including the US ones? Asking for a friend. 🙈🙉🙊

crumblingschools · 22/06/2025 13:49

@Nackyposter can he bomb Israel's ones too?

Cadenza12 · 22/06/2025 13:50

Because starting a war over something a country might do is not quite the ticket.

What? Wanting Iran - a hostile nation - not to get full nuclear missile capability is not the same thing as being against any country having nuclear weapons. Not sure what point you think you’re making…

Why do people keep saying this? Do you genuinely believe there is no difference between the USA and Iran?

Hostile to whom? Are you saying you don't consider the USA hostile?

Between Iran and USA, only one has been in the news constantly for the last 9 months for their persistent threats to world trade and peace. Spoiler, it wasn't Iran!

Trump is bonkers and quite dangerous. I thought everyone was aware of that.

You have got to hand it to Iran. They have successfully attracted millions of useful idiots.

Are you being serious? It promotes terrorism, undermines freedom and undermines democracy.

What do you think Iran was developing nuclear weapons for?

Ah I see. You don't actually want educating on the subject. You just want everyone to agree with your right wing extremist view, and to insult all those that don't. I understand now.

Is it Saturday night in the US right now? Bored are we?

GasperyJacquesRoberts · 22/06/2025 13:57

Sure, because pointing out that military strikes like this in an area that has already got very heightened tensions might lead to serious and wide-ranging consequences is exactly the same as whole-hearted support of Iran 🙄

I agree. The USA does promote terrorism, undermines freedom and undermines democracy. I'm glad we can agree on that at least.

And democratically elected with a time limit on his presidency and checks and balances on his power.

How did the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan go? Did they bring peace? Or make those countries better? Seriously.,., you call others useful idiots

As hostile as Iran? Absolutely not. And if you do, you are - quite frankly - deluded.

Iran is our enemy. The US may be an inconsistent and unreliable friend, but they are not our enemy.

Imtootired · 22/06/2025 14:00

Checks and balances? And what are those specifically for the USA?

My guess is that Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons for the same reason that Israel did - they're both countries in an unstable part of the world where wars and military strikes are commonplace.

Tell me. Why do you support Iran developing nuclear capabilities?

Why is anyone pointing out that it’s a dangerous hostile state deemed right wing and American?

Could it be you’ve listened to propaganda and are becoming a fifth columnist?

Those checks and balances aren't working. Didn't he need to go through Congress before invading? Illegal invasions aren't generally seen as a good thing OP.

Taking out nuclear sites is hardly the same thing as launching a ground invasion, toppling the existing regime, and then occupying a country for multiple years while you try to establish democracy.
