Is the floral dress and white trainers look out?

So it’s been really nice as we all know. My go to for work is the floral dress and white trainers and I was told by my younger colleague this look is “out”

I know it doesn’t matter as long as you like what you wear, but I’m also conscious of not looking stylish but keeping my look “fresh”

Yep it’s out. As soon as middle aged women wear it the younger ones move on. Then it’s a couple of years of older people wearing it then it’s out I think

W0tnow · 30/03/2025 20:22

Yes, it is.

But if you’re comfortable, go ahead.

sesquipedalian · 30/03/2025 20:23

My DS who keeps up with this sort of thing assures me that you can wear any trainers you like so long as they aren’t white. The white trainer is apparently out!

Gemmawemma9 · 30/03/2025 20:23

Do you like it?
Do you feel comfortable?
Then wear it.
I saw a tiktok today: the worst dressed people are the ones who follow EVERY trend. So true. Dress in what you like. I bet you look lovely.

I've only just started wearing the white trainers, and they're out already?!

Although maybe people like me are the reason, given I'm over 40 and wearing them, probably puts the younger ones off 😂

I saw the same tiktok 😄

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 30/03/2025 20:26

Yeah op, it's out 🥺

Are the dresses with chunky sandals also out?

MidnightPatrol · 30/03/2025 20:26

It is technically out but IMO now ‘a classic’ that to some extent is always ok.

I may be in denial.

Smoothandsmooth · 30/03/2025 20:27

I love a white trainer and I will keep wearing them. BUT I can’t stand floral dresses and would never combine the two. Very glad if less people wear the dresses now. But I do think you should wear what you feel comfortable in.

notacooldad · 30/03/2025 20:27

So what is the outfit ans shoe combo trend for the summer?

vandelle · 30/03/2025 20:28

I only wear a dress to a wedding, so I think I'm ok so...

minnienono · 30/03/2025 20:28

Wear what you like! I do not change my wardrobe that frequently, eventually I’m fashionable again

andyouwillknowusbythetrailofdead · 30/03/2025 20:29

Not for me. I like it so I'm going to keep doing it. For me it's comfortable and practical and I like how it looks.

It makes no sense financially or ecologically to chuck out decent stuff just because someone whose job it is to sell us new things says we should.

MrsWhites · 30/03/2025 20:29

I love a floral dress and trainers, I’ll probably still wear it, I’ve found my 40’s has brought with it a f*ck it attitude to what is on trend, I’m wearing what I like rather than what is in. It’s so wasteful apart from anything else!

HiCandles · 30/03/2025 20:30

Surprised to hear white trainers are out. All the baby groups, soft play and farms etc I go to with the children, everyone is wearing Veja white trainers.

If they are, what are the cool young things wearing? Surely dolly shoes/ballet pumps are not back in with dresses?

SparkyBlue · 30/03/2025 20:32

I absolutely love dresses. I'm not even 5ft and I find dresses can be way more flattering on me than trousers so that look has always been my thing. It's dresses and boots in the winter lol. I always get compliments and people often ask me where I bought such and such item so I'll stick with it.

I have this question too 🥺, I'm still a young woman in my head 😅 and want to be semi cool

SpringHasSprungg · 30/03/2025 20:33

I only saw a very few women wearing this look last year, complete with cross body bag so I think it’s definitely out. It’s a shame as it’s one of my best looks, I’ll probably still wear my dresses but with different footwear and bags. I’ve also bought a few belts so will try these with the dresses to see if that updates them.

CollaterlieSistersSister · 30/03/2025 20:36

Bloody hell.

Wear whatever you like.

Personally, I don’t give a toss about “in” or “out”. There are no rules, just what some nauseating influencers or whatever decide will make them more money.

You do you.

InMyMNEra · 30/03/2025 20:36

Yes, totally over

It’s all bright coloured gazelles now, and floral dresses are no longer

I still wear both, though. 40+ and don’t care

Pussert · 30/03/2025 20:39

White trainers definitely out.

Young uns are wearing bright trainers and ballet pump style trainers.

Well thank goodness if we are seeing the back of white trainers at least!

I'm sick of the sight of trainers.

They are OK in their place and I understand they are comfortable but I don't understand how women were brainwashed into thinking they actually look good with dresses. Give me a pair of Roman sandals or chunky sandals with a dress any day.

I just can't get away from thinking wearing trainers in summer must result in disgusting smelly, sweaty feet.

But everyone should wear whatever they like anyway regardless of what's fashionable or not

ChompandaGrazia · 30/03/2025 20:55

I’m 50 and fresh out of fucks to give. I like dresses and white trainers.
